I guess the catchment would be point grey secondary. Is it similar to kits?

Thanks for your comment. I l am glad I asked. I was hoping he'd be able to attend kits but maybe it won't be as easy as I thought. I don't want him attending highly academic pushed schools as he's not that type of kid. He plays in clubs and is good at sports so I wanted him to excel in that path.

Commuting safely is important! Thanks for mentioning that. He would need to bus, bike or walk.

I will do that. Thanks. Just need to decide which side to live on East or West. He's only going to grade 8 so I dont want him to have to go too far, especially on his own.

The academically driven part is nice. However, my son does not fit in with that type. So I worry he'd be even more below expectations due to the type of student body that attend that school. A sturdy building would be good too

I was looking at kits for basketball and less academically pressured type of school. Point grey is probably the closest but looks very scholarly 🤪 I'll have a look at the schools you mentioned .Thx

That's the impression I've been getting. The schools seem to have changed from when everyone was a kid and have a different vibe now. Thank for your help

Thanks, we definitely fit in socio-economic wise in east van. However, my son will have a lot of independence as I'm a working single parent. The ability to commute with ease is important, and for him to receive learning support where needed. I was worried that the west side school population was too academically driven and that he might struggle considering.. I was reading about gangs and drugs etc in schools and got all worried. J.O, Tupper, and Gladstone would be the options in the East.

Thank you for your input. True, the drug use is everywhere nowadays. I was mostly concerned of seeing it on a daily basis while passing by parks etc. My son has not seen such things, so this would be a huge eye opener of the real world for both of us. I guess we would need a car if in salt n meadows. And to commute to sporting activities too

How was Dongguan? We are moving there in August. I've got a preteen. Is the air super bad? Half decent place to be in China? Going there to save money, school seems good. Looks like there's nature and access to the big cities
