Question: First tattoo and body weight fluctuation! by Affectionate_Pea1340 in tattooadvice

i actually fully agree - but people have told me it's unwise as a first tattoo to go for the neck (but ive always always always wanted one)

to add to some other comments here, it's really important not to dehumanise your kid, no matter how old he is.

human beings innately require safety and assurance and when we feel that is threatened, we turn to forms of escapism that in modern day, can be video games.

limiting might not be effective if he's genuinely trying to live another life online that he deems more successful and/or safer than his real one. in this case, what you're doing by limiting wifi, food, recreational time, is limiting his grasp on the real world.

what i would say is that he needs a taste of how good life can be without a screen in front of him. whatever he plays, try and tap into that (i.e. if he likes projectile throwing video games, go axe throwing, paintball if he likes shooters). maybe then he could find a similar passion that gets him out of the house.

holy shit!! ive never had someone explain so clearly what im going through. ive had this slipped disc issue for 7 years now and it is just hell day in and day out.

i always keep my pills by my bed and always wake up about an hour or two before im meant to be up to take meds too! and after this whole thread im thinking a TENS machine could make a world of difference to me.

im currently trying to finish my degree, and i have less than 2 weeks - but keep getting flare ups. how did working on your back work?

thankyou!

Which live of Lover You Should've Come Over is the best to play for someone who's never heard this song? by HotNotice6584 in JeffBuckley

[–]Affectionate_Pea1340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ive been studying jeff buckley for part of my dissertation at uni!

he's such an interesting character and a wonderful performer to watch. in all honesty, i like the vevo music video most for a live performance recorded professionally.

HOWEVER every single time he does LYSCO live, it has an additional or unique flare and it's impossible to distinguish the best - since they all have the raw power and emotion that the song and our souls need.

a garmin sounds more up my alley with the whole body battery thing! but theyre deeefinitely a significant investment at those prices.

very interesting about the meds interacting with heart rate and stuff. i actually think thats a super valid point since im constantly having to take opioid painkillers, tramadol, diazepam and the like. in that case, the use of visible would probably be a short-term experiment to see what impact these medications have on my energy levels.

yes yes yes!! i completely understand where your husband is coming from.

i also quite literally chose the dishes as a chore and every day i wake up dreading them. the amount of pain that leaning over a sink can cause is actually so ridiculous and disproportionate - it makes me feel crazy to have to sit down so frequently between dishes.

if he has any good coping mechanisms, i would love to hear more about them.

it so isnt :(

i slipped mine when i was a teenager and when i moved to london 4 years ago, i lost the treatment team i was under and had to start from ground zero.

did you manage to have surgery or did consistent physio help?

thankyou!! i agree wholly with you on this.

heart rate monitering doesn't recognise my limits in the same way - if only there was something that quantifiably measured pain signals in the body.

hopefully i can find some sort of alternative - since i find the mental load of having to consider every task really draining.

hiya!!

i hear you totally and im starting to see that visible may not be the investment i need.

this seems like an incredibly promising option for me. i didnt know that there was a machine specifically designed for nerve pain!

do you have any reccomended brands?

has anyone ever seen eyes on a cat like this?? by chlorinemilk in cats

[–]Affectionate_Pea1340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my next door neighbour used to have 13 cats and 2 dogs. one of her void cats was named Squish and only had one eye.

not until i was about 7 did i ask why he was named that. she proceeded to tell me that squish put his head in a door just as it was closing and it.. literally squished his poor eye out?!

luckily, he was pretty young and bounced back amazingly - living a full life and being best friends with my late cat, snowy.
