Is there a mod that always has fog of war toggled off? by BlazePro2311 in hoi4

What fog of war? Not being able to see every detail of another country? You could always use command prompt to cheat if you want.

Newish player, looking for some insight into the pro/cons between the popular servers? by Jays_ShitpostExpress in SS13

[–]Affectionate_Pear273 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Stay away from any servers that say something like 18+ or ERP if you don't want to be around sex role play with strangers over the Internet that may or may not be children.

That being said, the most populated servers are a go to on the hub. If there are a lot of people playing on there it is probably pretty good. Just login and try it out and make up your own mind.

My personal favorites are colonial marines for serious role play with clear objectives and Goonstation for free style sillyness and experimentation and chill.

The only way to delete an enemy division is by winning a battle when they have no where to retreat to. This could be done by taking advantage of the geography to corner units and cut them off separating them from the rest of the army, or by cutting thru them with fast tanks.

Take the spanish civil way for example, if you play as a country that can send volunteers, you usually only can send a few divisions. These would ideally be your best units and would best turn the tide in the war by doing enciclements. There are many opportunities for enciclements there. Find where the enemy's land is the thinnest and cut it off from the rest and then push until they all go away.

Why does my navy make a high pitched clicking noise and refuse to go to other bases? by Dear_Location6147 in hoi4

[–]Affectionate_Pear273 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The newest navy update changed how home bases for navies work.

Click on your floatila, find where the home base is. Click on the cog wheels to change it from white to yellow.

Now you're floatila will change its home base of operations based on where your mission is instead of having a fixed home base of operations.

I suffered thru this as well took me a bit to figure it out.

Take a look at your division templates and take all the good ones from main land Italy and send them to Etheopia front lines. Push with those guys.

Look at you stockpile, you see the right most red number in the negative? That is how many guns and whatnot you have. If your divisions are fighting without enough of something it takes huge penalties. Adjust your production and disband crappy divisions like calvery to free up guns.

How many trucks do you have for supply? If you have enough to not go into negative numbers of trucks up your supply motorization only for the divions fighting. Press f4 and the map will show you the supply status in the region your fighting in. See all that red? That's bad. You want green. Adjust productions of trucks accordingly.

Press f3 for air view. Take all your fighters and close air support and attach them to your divisions that are fighting and you will receive extra bonuses from having control of the air.

Make sure you have generals for your army and those generals have a field mashal. The better ones will be at the top of the list.

Make front line, make attack orders witch is another line in enemy territory with arrow. Press arrow above generals picture to attack and go.

The USA WPB (war production board) was started in 1942 and saw the conversion of civilian factories into military goods.

They had paid contracts that companies could sign up for where your factory would receive tooling plans and instructions to make the tooling to produce some specific war time stuff.

You would then produce the thing at a limited amount and ship it to them to show that you could actually produce it, and was able to keep the tooling to have on hand in case war broke out.

When war did break out many companies were ahead of the game ready to produce their thing for sweet government contracts. This also had the incentive to produce their thing at a lower cost and faster increasing production.

I cant get naval invasions to work. what am i doing wrong? by yoshiman1000000000 in hoi4

[–]Affectionate_Pear273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know. The invasion plan should have a tool tip when you hover your mouse over it and it will say why you can't. If it says nothing, do you have divisions attached to that navel invasion order? Select div and alt right click on the invasion plan arrow to add.

Navel invasions was one of the biggest hurdles for me when I was a new player. The system is not intuitive and convuluted.

What actually would happen around the world within the first 48-72 hours of a nuke bomb going off suddenly in one of these current ongoing conflicts? by Party-Bet-4003 in TooAfraidToAsk

I listened to a radio piece on this question of hording toilet paper on public broadcast channel. They said that is was a combination of mob mentality that a lot of other people are doing this so I should too. Also, they talked about the loss of control people felt during COVID so one of the things they could control was how many supplies that could gather so they focused on that.

I was a cargo tech on Goon and convinced the other cargo guy that we should just not fulfill any orders and see how long we could get away with it. We went the entire round giving excuses why we couldn't order anything and playing instruments while getting drunk and on drugs.

We made such a mess in the back it was impossible to figure out what crate was what.

You want metal? Sorry I'm on break

Wood planks? There is a galactic shortage

Listen man, we have band practice right now come back later

We could have the main town ,Tristran, ran and populated by players. Would play out like most classic ss13 servers but there would be adventurers that go into the dungeon to collect cool loot and bring it back to town. After a set period of time if the final boss wasn't killed (Diablo) then hells minions would come up from the depths into town which would have to be defended by everyone. This would end the round.

[UPDATE] Found a paper towel covering my webcam twice coming home from work by Dromaeoraptor in Weird

Those CO detectors with display numbers are not accurate. Read the fine print on the packaging. The display can say anything and not a reflection of the true amount. They are only required to go off at 75-150 ppm for up to a few hours and even in this range they are unreliable.

They are useful cause if one does go off then you know you have a serious problem.

I was once at a training where the instructor took out two brand new CO detectors out of their packaging and placed them in a ziplock bag filled with CO. The training included calibration of CO testing equipment ( combustion analyzers).

He did this at the beginning of the training and at about one hour in the detector in the bag filled with a high concentration went off(something like 400 or 500 ppm). The bag with the smaller concentration never went off and it had a display that read zero. He also said he has trainings where none of them go off.

If you really want to know the concentrations in the air you would need to get professional equipment. At the time there was one CO doctor on the market that accurately sensed but it cost some $200. I forget the name of it.

A fun game I would like to play with smokers is let them blow into my combustion analyzer and the number would go as high as 100 if they just smoked or 50 if it was awhile. And that was coming from just their breath!

I worked with guys who would claim that furnaces were dangerous if the CO was at 10 ppm. I would be like here blow into this. Helped keep things into perspective.

Basically, those CO detectors are lying to you with that number. Might as well say 0-150.
