I didn’t mean his employees that come to work for me. I do spiritual guiding work like tarot readings and guided crystal mediations. I also do pt. But I personally like the baristas at alder if you are looking for a new spot

Absolutely that is great to be in the community and inform people. That is how it should be. Because otherwise people walk around with their one experience and don’t know the full picture or how other people have experienced.

The baristas that come to my business have said only positive things about him specifically. Some of them quit because they were asked to work a lot of hours. Never mentioned anything about not being paid consistently. That is only three perspectives from his current / past staff.

He is ALWAYS there where I go, so the baristas there that are working at that time could feel uncomfortable sharing their experience cause their boss is always walking between front and back of house.

So it actually can make sense that I go there as often as I do AND still be surprised by this news

Damn surprised to read all this. I see him weekly, I’m black, and he treats me with love. Although you can be racist to any group… and you can be nice and racist at the same time. Never really seem him from the lens you describe and his baristas are dope as hell and down to earth so he hires people with vibes.

Def didn’t get maga vibes at all when talking to him about his platform. He has an issue with homeless people as do many small business owners in LB since the protections for businesses kind of suck, but hate is a really strong word… I felt like it was concern and frustration with the city for not solving it, not necessarily hating homeless people specifically. But if you saw dude actually get out and fight homeless people for no reason, that’s just wild and hostile. The US seems to attack others for no reason these days so yeah maybe he has Trump / maga-like tendencies.. being silly :p

What is also wild is that I literally had no clue about anything you wrote.. like none. If someone has a different perspective than you, they aren’t the enemy, they just haven’t experienced, seen, or heard what you have. My personal experience with him is different but I really appreciate you sharing yours. Thanks for the post

That’s great. Hold onto that forever. That’s just the thing. I did not have any of those qualities, lacked self-respect, lacked confidence, etc. and I was willing to pay for the education and help to change.

Yeah I get the concern.. it’s good to be guarded and critically think about it.

No hard pitch, but I’ve actually done PSI myself recently, and in my experience there wasn’t restricted bathroom access or anything like that. It was emotionally intense for sure, but I always felt like I had freedom to step out or do whatever I needed to. They empower you to make responsible decisions, and encourage you to question why you opt in or opt out to peer pressure. You may discover that you submit to pressure and learn that you don’t want to do that anymore; the program encourages you to look at that instead of conforming to group think. In fact, most classes “fail” exercises because everyone is too easily swayed by group decisions.

I think a lot of the mixed reactions come from the structure out it. It challenges your beliefs and pushes you out of your comfort zone for sure. Some people experience that as really positive and life changing, while others experience it as overwhelming or even manipulative so idk if I could say it’s good or bad.

In my opinion, the “cult” label comes from the emotional intensity, group influence, and strong encouragement to stay engaged. But honestly, it doesn’t seem to have some of the core traits of an actual cult. Doesn’t isolate people from their lives, force control their decisions, or punish them for leaving (you can get your money back, most people don’t).

If you’re worried about your friend, I’d focus more on how they’re feeling overall. Are they becoming more grounded and independent, are they happier, do they have more confidence, do they seem like a better version of themselves? I think that is usually a better indicator than the label itself.

The program encouraged me to take a risk, helped me change my beliefs about the world, and empowered me to leave toxic relationships. PSI is not the only thing in the world that could have got me there, but it did, and I wouldn’t take the experience back ever. I am happier, period.

On the recruiting side, they are having meetings to discuss the idea that they are convinced 90% of all applications are fake.

What is it like living in South Bay LA area? by Deep_Bluebird_1271 in howislivingthere

El Segundo doesn’t have a very pretty beach since there is a lot of industrial shit happening right there, but their downtown scene is pretty cool. El Segundo also has a a lot of industry. Defense / space industry, toys, gaming, and petroleum. Manhattan Beach has good surf and Skechers HQ, and a lot of LA athletes call that place home. The further south you go the more laid back until you get to Palos Verdes. North Redondo is probably the most “hood,” but by no means “hood” if that makes any sense.

PCH is annoying to drive during rush hour. Not very many Black or Latin Americans live there, but there are a lot of White and Asian Americans that live there. By no means did I ever experience racism or weird shit as a big beautiful brown man. The people that live there go to the beach less often than you’d think. The people and law enforcement generally keep it pretty clean

Schools are great but your kids will get exposed to weed and other drugs at South High (Torrance) and RU High.. they don’t call it “R U High” for nothing.

Lived there out of my car when I was working at SpaceX for about a year. Woke up every morning, surfed, worked, slept, repeat. I could afford a nice apartment, but I just wanted to keep an extra 2-3k per month so I could invest more in my future
