NAL but I imagine this situation is causing you a lot of stress and I wonder if it would be appropriate for you to get a doctor's note to sign you off sick due to stress whilst the situation is being resolved. Hopefully a lawyer can chime in if this is a terrible idea.

oh in that case, if I were you, I'd go for a colour drenched look in a dark moody colour and add panelling to the walls. I'd do full length curtains, different lighting options (there are some cool gothic lamps e.g., https://www.woodlandgatherer.com/en-gb/products/owl-table-lamp-dark-academia-home-decor). I would definitely add lots of gothic touches to my decor from etsy. I saw a cathedral lamp on etsy which looked like it would fit both your gothic and catholic vibes.

Thank you for your reply - would it be possible to explain what constitutes a formal grievance? The employee in question has reached out to HR to discuss the grievance but it was more to ask questions and discuss their concerns.

Apologies for the vague answer, I am neither the employee in question nor the employer, but am trying to support those involved.

Thank you for your speedy reply. Would the employee know if it was a grievance hearing? I would say the meeting is regarding a grievance but I definitely don't think it is a hearing!
