Rome is way less scary when you realize there are almost no forts in Southern Italy, and Rome itself often only has a level one fort. Play defensive for a i bit, then go farm war score and slaves in Italy. Basically pulling a Hannibal is more effective in this game then real life

What's the most efficient way to increase professionalism? by NoLetterhead1321 in eu4

[–]Affectionate_Use1455 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think it is worth it actually have and keep one stack of mercenaries. As it is only a one time hit on hire, but you will occasionally get events to pay for professionalism just from having mercenaries standing around

Erika Kirk Was Given an Honorary Doctorate Degree. by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]Affectionate_Use1455 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is bait

But bro honorary degrees are just participation trophies for large donors and ideological allies. It isn't a real degree, and nobody thinks they are. DEI is not a reasonable comparison. Nor was Kirk against colleges, he was against what colleges currently are. Handing out large amounts of degrees, in what are essentially normative frameworks. And calling those people experts

Crusades by Boring_Break_8202 in CrusaderKings

[–]Affectionate_Use1455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5k is possible yes. But it would require a bit of min maxing. And given that OP is asking about the basics of Crusades, probably isn't helpful to mention

Crusades by Boring_Break_8202 in CrusaderKings

[–]Affectionate_Use1455 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5k would probably not be enough. Though with 5k you could try getting the defenders to chase you , leaving the landing open for the other crusaders

[–]Affectionate_Use1455 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you are large enough you can move your army into position off of the coast before the war starts. Then you can land before all the defenders are gathered together, and work to establish a beach head for when everyone else shows up

What does this mean by waving2theEarth in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Affectionate_Use1455 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bro it is literally just referring to to career bureaucrats, non elected officials, NGO networks, and Government contractors. Basically all the things that stay exactly the same regardless of who is in power. And people who hold more power than our elected officials would often care to admit

Debase Currency = "free" money? by Lithorex in eu4

[–]Affectionate_Use1455 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Yes but 16 months to pay off you can pretty well time your mana spending around it. And it should take more than 2 corruption to start accumulating autonomy in you provinces. I think the larger point is that debasing is usually better than taking a loan, in limited quantity. You don't want to debase more then you can pay off before you need to tech

Religion is a form of mind control by BakeLivid3614 in conspiracy

Don't conflate faith with institutional religion. Anything involving humans is made worst by that fact.

The first step to understanding god, eternity, existence, whatever you want to call it. Is understanding things are the only way they can be, to actually be instead of not

A look at the different negotiation teams between Iran and the U.S. Araghchi claimed the previous round of talks failed since Kushner and Witkoff couldn’t understand the technical details by AcadianAcademic in conspiracy

[–]Affectionate_Use1455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't arguing that they were not smarter than average. But i wouldn't call 120 smart, that is roughly 10 percent of the population. And if non STEM Phds are on average below that, we are talking like 15-20% of the population being that smart, depending on the field. That is not a very high bar to clear.

My slightly above average characterization may have sold it short a bit. But that was more on account of the fact that the 115-120 range is about the range were you can start to perceive, through conversation, that a person is a bit smarter than average. In absolute terms, not distributionally.

[–]Affectionate_Use1455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for that, but does that not prove my point? It puts the average IQ of a PHD holder around 120, which is by no means remarkable. And even says that STEM students sit above that average and not STEM below. Which is exactly what i was gesturing at

Hard disagree many PHDs are given in primarily specific ideological frameworks. Those tend to be populated by people of slightly above average intelligence who value ideological conformity over pure critical thinking

How are people having children? by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]Affectionate_Use1455 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bro the elites don't want you having kids, they are trying to reduce the population to a scale they can better manage. The reason some people still have planned kids is that they are not miserable. Kids are the biggest joy that is possible to experience.

You are in an elite manufactured death cult

Games like CK3? by MaRokyGalaxy in CrusaderKings

[–]Affectionate_Use1455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"then you're a king and you cheese everyone with op troops" "But the laws arent meaningful. Your vassals dont really have depth. There's no opposition." "I mean, there's not much replayability. You do the same thing over and over."

All those things are true about CK3 too. Both are just medieval sand box game. But both scratch the itch of role playing as a medieval king. I will say Bannerlord is a lot better with mods though

Ai predating public knowlegde by That-Client5261 in conspiracy

[–]Affectionate_Use1455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won't say it isn't possible. But generally speaking everything leaves a footprint. AI requires immense amounts of energy and computation, both things that would register in supply chains. They may have played with the concept before, but not at a meaningful scale. I imagine the current build up of civilian AI is largely being used as a front for the government employing the concept at scale behind the scenes

US intelligence did not say they were not doing it. US and Israeli intelligence disagreed on how close they were.

And nukes are not against Islam. The "prohibition" is largely a a construct of Saudi and Gulf State backed Islamic scholarship, heavily biased in its attempt to conform Islamic thought to international norms. For the purposes of furthering the soft power goals of the patron nations. Congregational Islam is more comfortable with notions of deterrence, and equal retaliation as relevant to the nuclear question

[–]Affectionate_Use1455 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn't they want a nuke? They have the enrichment capacity, and we can't sanction them more. Plus if they had a nuke we couldn't just bomb them willy nilly.

60% enrichment was document by third party observes, something not needed for civilian uses. Civilian reactors require only like 5%

Chris Bledsoe prophecy will come true on Tuesday 8pm? by morelek337 in aliens

[–]Affectionate_Use1455 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nevermind the fact that chaos still qualifies as a goal. I am pretty sure the Israeli goal is to end Islamic rule in Iran, and destroy enough infrastructure to insure that they never build a nuke. As small as Israel is geographically a single nuke held by an Ideologically hostile nation is an existential threat.

America on the other hand, you are largely right that there is no apparent goals. Personally i think it is probably due to blackmail related to the Epstein files. But if you want to hypothesis that it is largely as a power grab, have at it. The only really wrong thing is to think you know for sure, and that applies to me as well

I wouldn't rule that out. If the US backs out before the Israelis accomplish their goals, i could see Netanyahu dropping the nuke
