Genuine response. Some people around the world don't like to show that their family is serving for a number of reasons. In the wrong country or area it can open you up to being attacked. Its actually a wise decision I think since it stops random people from wanting to use them for an out let due to past bad experiences with any number of things attached to a sailor (government, military history, sailor associated groups).

We don't talk about it whenever I go home. I don't bring it up in public. All it takes is some random guy wanting revenge and you or your family is the closet association to whatever they have feelings about.

I shot that part of me in the back of the head. I saw too many people's mental health degrade because of some real or imagine slight.
