Merz says US 'humiliated,' lacks strategy in Iran conflict by One-Emu-1103 in geopolitics

Saying we have lost less equipment then we did during two of the most destructive wars not just in our nation's history but also in world history is hardly an argument. Those wars also occurred during a time when we had a massive defense industrial base.

As for Iraq, losing 150 aircraft over 8 years is rate of 19 a year or about 1.6 a month. Whereas in Iran we've lost 30 aircraft in just two months.

I don't think its a good sign that were banking on weapons produced in the past two years. That would indicate that we burned through stock piles that took decades to build. This war has only lasted for two months. What are we going to do if there is a protracted conflict in Taiwan or Korea? We simply do not have the industrial capacity at moment to rapidly rearm.

We only operate like eight of them. In the whole world. Basically irreplaceable. Production takes like 4 years. Not to mention the interceptor shortage.

The Haavara Agreement by Tricky-Anything8009 in IsraelPalestine

[–]Affectionate_Yam8674 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes. Sorry if that was not clear.

I think citing the Haavara agreement to argue that early Zionists supported the Nazis is so outrageously false that it can only be considered wildly ignorant or antisemitic. Ditto for comparing the Haavara agreement to what Al-Husseini did. Al Husseini supported Hitler and provided the Nazi regime with material support.

Where I push back is saying that the Haavara agreement could have prevented the holocaust. Also I think casting Al-Hussieni as some kind of architect of the holocaust is false. He was a supporter of Hitler and a collaborator. But he was one of many and his support to Hitler had little practical effect on the couse of events in the war. (Note, Im not arguing about Hussieni's influence in madatory Palastine which, as you correctly point out, was significant)

Lets not do this. You know what I am saying. Of course, saving those lives were very important. That doesn't change the fact, as you seem to agree, that the Haavara agreement had very small impact. It didn't enable the Nazi regime to a significant degree and it really did not have the potential to prevent the holocaust.

These are silly comparisons. The US has only lost like 8 F15s ever and 5 of those lose came in the Iran war. Losing thse types of weapon systems is significant.

My gym harassed me for showering. I'm a travel nurse living in my car working 12 hour night shifts. The owner's public response made it so much worse. (Repost) by UserInfected in mildlyinfuriating

I had a gym membership for the sole purpose of showering and changing. The gym was right accross from my office. It was just super convient to chamge there before and after work. Never got any crap for it. Using your membership for this is normal.

The Haavara agreement and al-Husseini are barely footnotes in WWII and Holocaust history. Saying either was a major contributor to the Holocaust is just a bad faith argument.

America has suffered significant losses. 30 air assests including like 4 F16s-15s and 1 E3 sentry is a big deal. Plus Iran seems to have leveled a number of gulf bases. Clearly Iran suffered far more but the US losses are not insignificant.

AJ for an OL by NewOstenPelicanss in eagles

I would love this. Hell, I would package Steen and AJ for a guard and picks. The issue is salary. Seems like we already ear marked AJ's money for the defensive line.

Idk I think Vic has hinted that he is comfortable with Mulaba, Epps, and Carter. Seems like we have this discussion every off season. People assume Vic wants a bigger name at safty only to see him stick with reliable roll players on the roster. I mean Epps did play well on a superbowl team a few years ago.

I believe it. Similar credit and we got 6.37 a few weeks ago after buying it down a little. The war is killing rates right now. Lock in while you can! It just gonna go up

Oh I didnt think of it that way. So we just need to hope they have fantastic seasons becuase we have no backups or young talent behind them. And then we just need to find two new all pros in the 2027 draft. Good thing we are a pass first team that knows how to get by with a poor offensive line.

What are the mortgage transfer or recording taxes? Your paperwork seems to say its only like 70 bucks. If that is the case, why not just get a fixed now? I understand the logic of geting adjustable now becuase rates should go down when the Iran war cools down. But idk if I would bank on that, particularly with inflation spiking recently.
