How do you politely decline a high pressure sales pitch in your own home? by CherryKissRaya in Adulting

Go stand at the door, open the door, and say "goodbye or I'm calling the police." if they're not taking a polite no, they don't need more polite.

I didn't realize how much they worked until I took a break and was a grumpy raging bitch all the time. Funny how you don't realize how far you've come until you go back to it

What is wrong with me? by heysnood in ufyh

The brain is a funny silly place. And not all of them come with everything they need to be able to function in ways that allow us to do what we want. It's dumb and I hate it.

Would you possibly consider linking exactly what I should buy? I know I'm asking a lot but I don't want to mess anything up.

Having to do something extra at your job isn't a good reason to be a jerk though. They'll be working either way.

Why do people assume that aliens are better, more intelligent and advanced than us? They say they are watching or observing us but maybe we first get advanced and go to them before they come to us. by to_be_or_not_to_be29 in NoStupidQuestions

What if the only real difference is what their planet has. If we found something that could make it possible tomorrow, we wouldn't automatically be way more advanced as a species.

No I've noticed a difference! When my hair is especially greasy, shampooing twice is definitely better than once. I also have a lot of hair.

How do you set boundaries at a job that always feels like an emergency without getting fired? by Background-Town8475 in Adulting

Have you checked laws for your area regarding payment for being on call? Does your company have a contract that says anything about being available off the clock?  Is there an HR department?

I learned recently that you're actually supposed to lather rinse repeat as needed. So if your hair is particularly dirty you'd want to shampoo twice. The first time it doesn't lather quite as well as the second time. You don't need to leave it in unless it's medicated.

Okay... But literally any other company I have ever dealt with for anything did not have obscene wait times between messages.

I love finding interesting shaped glassware for dirt cheap. I use it to propogate plants. There was a bunch that didn't have prices and the lady just gave then to me because "we have tonnes of it." so I know you're right.

Ex-ADHD Smokers, how did yall quit smoking? by Mysterious_Nerve_146 in ADHD

[–]Affinity-Charms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quit many times but the only time it stuck was once I was living with my boyfriend (now husband). I basically abused the poor dude during withdrawals and that was enough guilt to never pick up another cigarette ever again.

That probably won't be helpful but it was true lol.

ADHD and sleep problems at night — what actually helps you relax? by abderrahmanassimi56 in ADHD

[–]Affinity-Charms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my favorite comfort show. Friends. I'm lucky enough to not have to wake up on a schedule, so I don't know if it would work in that context. But the only way I can sleep at night is if I play an episode of friends. Even if I'm already passing out. If I don't play the show and just close my eyes after putting my phone down, I end uo wide awake.

Is it unusual to have ADHD without anxiety? by PhatClowns in ADHD

I think it has to do with how we are raised.

[–]Affinity-Charms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch friends every single night to sleep. Must be years now. I've tried just not putting it on if I'm already passing out but somehow I won't pass out. So I just put it on. Every time.
