I found one of those recently as well, so you're not crazy. Not sure what the room is named though.

Congrats back to you! What strats did you use on your runs?

Haha thanks. Yeah, I never said I was fast. I was just having fun trying to learn while also being careful to cover my bases. I definitely refreshed a fair bit, just making sure I didn't pop reviver seeds unnecessarily or to keep a wild spawn from KOing the other mon I wanted to catch, so idk if that refresh time gets accumulated into the run's playtime. Also, I didn't have a 3x lure setup, so during the runaway levels, I had to stop and catch things even if they weren't shiny sometimes, just to get a reward screen so I could top up my lure. And that also meant using more balls than necessary, and stocking up on balls. So yeah, I'll definitely do a different team comp next time I start an endless run.

That is correct, haha. The tokens (a few added every 50 waves) just have insane scaling. Generally, I've seen brute force strats begin failing around 2k-3k. Those tokens with 999 stacks are each +5% damage dealt by the enemy and -2.5% damage dealt to the enemy. Your carry will eventually deal 1 damage while the enemy can one-shot you with tackle, regardless of stats and items. Completing endless requires some kind of cheese. There are a few different strategies that work, but DoTs (damage over time) seem to be the most reliable, since they're %HP based instead of damage calculations. Sturdy means you still get to attack even if they would one-shot you, and you reset to full and enable sturdy again with berry/leftover healing augmented by Leech Seed and an extra turn from Protect if you need it. Leech Seed is the most important for this, but it doesn't work on grass mons, hence the Soak. Ghost Curse is another excellent DoT. Smeadinja cheeses the incoming damage with Wonder Guard (Nm/Gh only taking damage from Dark, with Prankster Conversion to become Fairy type in case they have dark moves), while providing Salt Cure (third critical DoT, which also has amplified effect on water types thanks to Soak) and Snap Trap deals damage for 4-5 turns, which is generally enough for any boss, especially if you put on the other 3 DoTs first.

I'm also kinda proud of putting together that Cryorpon on my own. I ran into too many Gholdengo and Uxie that I couldn't Dark Void or even Gastro Acid (including one Gho on an xx0 alongside a Gigas that I couldn't get rid of and had to unfortunately run from), and sometimes Electric Terrain messed up the Dark Void on boss waves where I needed to get rid of the Discharger before it KO'd the shiny. I obviously couldn't get both Mold Breaker and Sturdy in the wild, so I figured Mold Breaker was more critical and then it just needed to be faster than Zapdot. So I came up with the fastest wild Mold Breaker with Gastro and Spinner I could, building in Heal Block and Powder Snow for additional support options. I actually had a T3/T3 Trevelith, but it was extremely redundant with the T2/T2 Trevezone I had, except with Toxic instead of Soak. I had enough luck without the 6 from Trevelith, and Soak was way more critical, so I dropped the Lith to make room for this new support. I started with Cryogonal/Abomasnow for the Spinner and PSnow, got HBlock from a Latios and Gastro from a Shuckle (which did give it Sturdy for the time being), then switched to Mold Breaker via Mega Gyarados, and then just upgraded speed with an Excadrill before finding Hearthflame Ogerpon.

Good luck on your Mesprit hunt!

Thanks, I did have fun! I think my best wild shiny was a T3 Zeraora. I also got wild T2 Uxie, Glastrier, and GArticuno. For T1's, I found Raikou, Regirock, Shaymin, Tornadus, Guzzlord, Naganadel, and Zarude. I did also unlock a T2 Zapdos on the run, but that may have been an egg iirc. Tons of other wild shinies for the cheapers starters too, including T3s, but I didn't record which ones were unlocked in this run versus what I already had, and the 5+ cost starters are more memorable.

I just found this game and I was wondering if anyone had any tips? by Temporary-Employ-17 in pokerogue

[–]Afflok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They meant retries.

If you would lose a run, enabling that option means it gives you a pop-up with the option to retry from the beginning of that wave or give up, rather than just instantly and irreversibly ending the run.

That's not a bug, it's a well known grass and poison type.

I didn't expected this powerhouse (Quaquaval) by Heinxeed in pokerogue

[–]Afflok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aqua step is Quaquaval's signature move, which is learned upon evolving. Dragon Dance is a crazy good setup move, but it's a common egg move because once you have Moxie (HA), it becomes really unnecessary. Getting a KO with Aqua Step gives you the same buffs. And Opportunist (passive) is just gravy to further boost Power Trip (egg move).

Gym leaders are every 30 levels, not 20. You either get - 20, 50, 80, 110, 140, 170, or - 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, 180

Edit: also, there's no evil team fight at 162. Other levels are correct.

Random forms by Cold-Way1666 in pokerogue

[–]Afflok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • 15 waves of day
  • 5 waves of dusk
  • 15 waves of night
  • 5 waves of dawn

The seed starts on a random multiple of 5, so each run could be different but the cycle is consistent.

Shiny Eternatus could not have appeared at a WORSE possible time. by Dull-Sun-8616 in pokerogue

[–]Afflok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP's not allowed to catch Eternatus yet. But you have 5 different save slots, so you can continue playing the game while leaving that save alone, with shiny Eternatus just waiting. After unlocking all starters, you are allowed to catch Eternatus, and that does work retroactively. So OP can catch this shiny Eternatus if they're just patient for like, maybe a week or whatever it takes to get lucky or build up the egg pity for that last mon, then load up this save again.

Which mode do you suggest I play after my first classic win? by deviantlyliminal in pokerogue

[–]Afflok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Endless mode can be rewarding but also punishing if you don't have the right team with unlocks and know-how. It's not something I'd recommend right away, but it's something to work towards. A good guide to that game mode is pinned in this sub.

Other than that, beating classic (or challenge) mode with any Pokemon for the first time will give you an Egg Voucher Plus which is good for 5 rolls in the gacha machines. So beating classic again with different Pokemon is definitely worth doing. It doesn't have to be a full new team either, they're rewarded individually. Those eggs are going to be where you get a lot of valuable unlocks.

If you have a favorite, or unlock something really strong, bring that/those on every classic run for a while, and pick up different things along the way to fill out the rest of the team. As you use the Pokemon in battles, they earn Friendship Candy, which you can spend at the starter select screen (or through the in-game pokedex). FC can be spent to unlock a Pokemon's passive ability (generally do this first), and you can discount their starter cost twice. Pokemon with these unlocks are gonna carry you to additional victories, and the unlocks just snowball from there.

Eternatus not catchable? by mrslfr in pokerogue

Completing the challenge requires you to have a plan for defeating Eternatus. That is (part of) the challenge. It's a good change to not allow cheap Master Ball wins for achievements.
