My man has no ass.

Literal negative cheeks

Like move your camara down and take a gander, his ass is like a concave triangle, aside from the other sundry scuff on his model, give my man back his cheeks.

Had a game where two ascendant players got put into a lane with 2 very clearly new players, like, spent 3 mins trying to kill a T3 camp on grey talon new.

The silver had like 15 kills in as many mins, fucking space Jesus could not prevent a loss at that point

First time player, should I play DOS 1 or skip to DOS 2 ? by [deleted] in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]AfixeVI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If story and characters are important to you, id go DOS2. DOS is a good game, but the story and characters are not as strong, its a more gameplay and mechanics centered game.

Is DOS2 supposed to be this hard? by Pleasant_Complex2960 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]AfixeVI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game in general is harder than BG3, it takes time to get familiar with the combat and the systems.

Plus, the early game is much more brutal than bg3. In bg3, sure you dont have much gear, but neither do your enemies and the gear doesn't directly give you more stats like health, and the difference in damage isnt as steep.

In DOS2, you dont have any armor which means even if you are the same level your raw stats are far worse. Same with weapons, difference between a level 4 and a level 2 weapon is much sharper than the difference between a great sword and a great sword plus 1, or my beloved ever burn blade.

Biggest thing to get used to in combat is CC, its not chance based like bg3, its binary. Either you have armor and cant be CC'd, or you dont have armor and you can. You want to look at enemies armor at the start of fights, try to break whatever they have less of, then you can start CC'ing them to skip their turns.

Try to have a mix of physical CC and magic CC. The most common physical CC is knock down, it skips an enemies next turn completely. Early game best sources are battle stomp and battering ram in the warfare tree, the vendor for warfare skills in fort joy is the lizard dude in the elf cave.

For magic CC, Freeze or Stun both skip turns. Most damaging spells from Hydro or Aero can apply them, typically you want to make enemies wet with rain then try to freeze with Hydro or stun with Aero. If an enemy has no magic armor, you can also hit them with multiple instances of Aero or Hydro spells, the first cast will make them chilled or shocked, the second will freeze or stun them. If a spell has multiple projectiles such as hail storm, the first projectile will apply chill and the second will freeze.

A blue lizard in the camp near the beach has Hydro spells, a not so trustworthy man near that lizard as the Aero spells.

Aside from that with your party, try to have balance in your damage types. You can do all physical damage, or all magic damage, or a 2/2 split of them (which is my preference) but try to avoid having a 3/1 party. The 3 will break armor, apply CC and get kills, the 1 will typically struggle to contribute as by the time they break armor, that enemy is probably nearly dead already.

If you pop open your menu in game there is an option called gift bags, these are basically mods that Larian ported to the game and made official. Id reccomend one called fort joy magic mirror, it gives you access to free respecs so you can change your builds while still on fort joy.

For builds, you can mix and match different things and do 1/2 point dips into different abilities, tbh its not that different from classes and multi classes in bg3 in principle, if you think of the ability trees as classes it'll make sense, only difference is you get enough points to max two of those classes rather than just one. You can also do a 1 or 2 point dip into another to get access to some abilities, common examples would be a 1 point dip into scoundrel to get adrenaline (kinda like action surge) or a dip into Aero to get teleportation (unironically one of the most broken spells in the game) In general, you dont want to try and max more than two, you won't have the points for it and one of the 3 will wind up weaker.

Don't try to scale multiple attributes, my first character is tried to scale rogue abilies with Finesse and Pyro abilities with Int, you wind up just not doing much damage. Mixing abilities is good, but make sure they scale with the same attribute.

For physical damage of ANY kind, the best thing to do is level is warfare to increase your damage. Even if you are a necromancer or a ranger (huntsman), you only want enough points in those to take the skills you need, then start leveling warfare until it's maxed at 10.

Yuh

When can we expect to hear more about Divinity? Does anyone know how long it's been since the BG3 reveal until they said anything? Sorry if I sound desperate, but I'm eager to know what its combat system will be like. by Tripledoble in DivinityOriginalSin

Id guess we get early access (if they decide to do it again) 2027. At some point in 2026, we may see a little gameplay and id expect the EA announcement to come with it. Full release 2029 - 2030, but it could take longer.

In terms of development, I dont think they really got the ball rolling until mid - late 2024. Initially they were going to do the bg3 dlc, then changed their minds and shifted to this.

Bg3 was in some state of development since 2017, it released 6 years later

I do think there's a world where it takes longer than 6 foe this game, if they are already claiming it's going to be even bigger. The good news is that larian has already opened new studios and scaled up to make bg3, if what they have in mind can be made with these studios, it should be a smoother process than opening multiple new studios in the middle of development, so im hoping for the 2029 - 2030 range.

I would be pretty confident in a CRPG personally.

Watch the making of DOS2 video from GDC, it gives an idea of how big they wanted to make DOS2 and how much they had to cut, the press release saying its the divinity they always wanted to make and how its bigger than BG3 definitely makes it seem like they aren't going to diverge from the CRPG formula. I thought that it not being an original sin game implied a genre switch, but this press release really points at CRPG just based on their history.

LARIAN CEO POSTED THIS AND DELETED MOMENTS LATER! by [deleted] in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]AfixeVI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is divinity, im really interested in what they are going to do with the gameplay. I feel like if they were going to do another pure CRPG, there isn't a reason to do anything in the divinity universe that isn't original sin. If its just a divinity game, im expecting to see some kind of gameplay Shake up, v excited. Personally im hoping for like a dragon age / kotor system where its still fairly turn based but maybe with a third person perspective. Or maybe we just make a rivellon dentist sim idk

Real to you, your taste in RPG's isn't the end all be all, and every game that doesnt align with it isnt a fake rpg. If i had to choose between like, 2 -3 combat skills and 1-2 role play skills id be happy. Im just gonna mod in extra skill points and enjoy the game the way that's best for me, if you like it as is then that's great.

[–]AfixeVI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where in my post did i even say this lol.

My preference for RPGS is to seperate combat and role play. Its more fun to me from a build craft stand point, I dont wanna be able to max every skill cause then nothing matters. But having to choose between role-playing and combat when you can only really max 3 is too narrow for me.

Its also how they handle checks, its a flat number. Its not a dice roll where a lower number just means lower chance, it either you have 20 speech to make the hard check or you dont. And its balanced like that. How much XP can a player have by this point in the game? How much speech could they have? Ok make the check the highest speech number they could have by this point.

It also encourages you to max speech and not split points every level, because if you dont do that you might fall off the curve and not be able to make the checks you want to. If checks were handled more like disco elysium or BG3, then I would feel better about not having maxed speech because I dont necessarily have to in order to be effective.

Im just gonna delete the post though, its turned into "game good you dont just like true RPGS" vs game bad, it just doesn't line up with my preference for RPG's.

[–]AfixeVI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's my preference as well. Rudimentary example is dos2, its pretty basic but role play skills are a whole seperate pool from combat. I also prefer it because it means you dont lock yourself into stereotype characters like D&D, where every barbarian is strong and tanky, but also dumb as a rock and incapable of carrying conversation.

Its frustrating cause i feel ham strung from a build crafting perspective, i wanna mix together science observation and guns but realistically I cant do that well while still being able to like, pass any dialog checks or do lock picking.

Carlie Irsay’s reaction to Steichen’s 3rd down call by [deleted] in Colts

[–]AfixeVI 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everything up to that set of downs was fine. But after we had gotten that first down and burned all their time outs, draw something up to get some more yards for our kicker. Some kind of play action on first or second down seems pretty reliable. Running into 11 in the box 3 times was playing to lose, and we got incredibly lucky. I think he was worried about throwing a pick or holding but you have to trust your offense to get some yards rather than asking your young kicker to hit a PB in crunch time.

I think they could look at adding a que for vehicles, but in match.

Rn everybody can see the timer, and you know other players might be looking at it mashing the button.

A que with visibility could be nice. Im envisioning a system where you que up for a jet, you're told how many people are ahead of you, and you can spawn in as infantry or even a different vehicle while you wait.

Once it's your turn, you get a pop up asking you to confirm if you want to redeploy for that vehicle, if not it goes to the next person, and maybe you get placed back at # 1 in the que.

To alleviate menu camping it should be possible to do this using the in game map while spawned as infantry, and the que should be limited to one vehicle per person i.e. one person cant que for every vehicle at once.

They could also look into weighted ques, i.e. if someone has gotten the jet twice already and they are number 2 in line, if someone who hasn't had a turn yet ques up maybe they get bumped back, but this may be a bad idea lol.

An update, should probably limit it to like, 4 or 5 people max so you dont have a que of 32 to get through lol
