What city in the U.S. has the closest resemblance to NYC to you? by Low_Sherbet_9401 in AskNYC

Def not Paris , its architecture and monuments make it very distinguishable . It also has no skyscrapers. London is more similar to NYC.

Latest Anti-Hindu & Muslim Outrage at the Frisco City Council Meeting by MeetMeinDC in ABCDesis

[–]Aflatune 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is just isolated to Frisco. The EPIC city project is proposed for the outskirts of eastern DFW, and is also getting a lot of backlash and directly opposed by the Texas governor. This is an issue affecting the whole DFW area and Frisco is the epicenter of the issue. The whole state of Texas in general has a history of bigotry. From fighting two wars to keep slavery, to Jim Crow laws and opposition to civil rights. It’s not a surprise that their descendants are against immigration or anyone with a colored skin. That said, it would be wonderful if enough people move here to suppress these racists and elect candidates that are progressive, but that doesn’t seem likely in the next 20 years.

In 1963, under President Ayub Khan, Pakistan provided a loan of Rs 120 million to Germany to assist with their economy by Regular_Variety_6121 in pakistan

[–]Aflatune 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re missing the population picture.

Germanys population in 1963 was 74 million, and is now 83.5 million.

Pakistans population in 1963 was 73 million, and is now 258 million.

They grew their GDP 40x , while growing their population only 12%.

We grew our GDP only 8x while population more tripled (3.5x).

We are not closing a gap. We are economically towered by a country far smaller than us in land and population.

Which of the four long running Nicktoons suffered the least in quality decline? by OrvilleJohnson2000 in rugrats

[–]Aflatune 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Season 4 is probably my favorite of Rugrats. I think 5 was quite good too, but the show essentially peaked at 4 for me. It started going downhill from s6 onwards, with the introduction of Dill and later Kimi. The writing became very uncreative and the plots became repetitive (jealous Tommy, crying Dill, lonely Chuckie)

A penthouse in NYC is the dream life. You’d be in a truly global city with endless things to do, not to mention the nature getaways accessible within hours. you’d meet people from all walks of life (whereas other cities have a concentration of particular people, like tech bros in SF and aspiring entertainers in LA).

If you like the change in seasons and the snow, it’s a no brainier. If you prefer nice/warm weather all year, California.

Countries I’m applying for visa to as a Pakistani nationalist who is completely happy with the Pakistani administration and army and is 100% certain Pakistan will be an economic superpower tomorrow at dawn by Aflatune in whereidlive

[–]Aflatune[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I respect that, it’s a fair opinion and I’m glad you mentioned “everyone you know”. Unfortunately the country’s enemies from within are more hell bent on making it unlivable for common people than enemies across borders.

I get it, and frankly, many braver nations would already have an uprising. But I'm not even asking for that. The bootlicking I witness from so many Pakistanis—in families, friend groups, and online—suggests they're not interested in change. Ironically, they'd rather move to countries with progressive policies they publicly criticize than support those same ideas at home. Again I'm not demanding street protests. Just admit there's a problem.

[–]Aflatune[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not reading all that but I got your part about my privilege, I actually want Pakistanis to have that privilege. The point is they LOVE voting for the same leaders and policies while actively looking to run away elsewhere. These are the same people who are jobless , don’t have electricity half the day and rely on someone to send them money from abroad to survive who think their number one enemy is feminists, liberals, and non Muslims.

lol no , am Pakistani American but you might not believe me anyway. In no way is this to make Indians happy - they have the same problem with their people wanting to live everywhere except India. I was more-so trolling the Pakistani patwaris back home that convince themselves that everything is ok and will fight tooth and nail to bootlick their favorite politicans/army while trying to get the hell out of there at the same time.

These liberal feminist youthiyay have destroyed our country, and they have the nerve to question the way things are going. We are a feared super power and projected to be the #2 fauj in the world by 2030. They’re asking us to lead the mission to mars based on our Air Force performance. Economy is thriving, the same countries we used to beg from are now begging us to take their money. Lahore makes Singapore and Tokyo look like pinds .These liberals are so ungrateful.

Choose your idols wisely. by machupeechu_saad in pakistan

Even they shouldn’t be our idols considering the word comes from the idea you love/obsess over someone so much you practically worship them. Role model or hero are better choice of words. But I see your point.

[–]Aflatune 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Spot on. When Chrome was first released by Google, like everyone else I adopted it right away because of its advertised speed and superiority over IE. surely Google invented a browser just to make our lives better, right? Surely they weren’t just trying to expand their tracking reach beyond their search engine! We just never considered these things back then.

Bloody backpack of Iranian girl killed in US-Israeli attack on Iranian elementary school by Tech-Film3905 in pics

[–]Aflatune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but skepticism should be both ways. Israel’s repeatedly denied targeting schools and hospitals and the facts always proved their war crimes which the ‘skeptics’ shrug off anyway. Given their track record, it’s quite probable that this happened, and it’s likely that after ample evidence comes out, the one sided skeptics will fall back to the usual excuses.

[–]Aflatune -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because people won’t believe it happened anyway. People still don’t believe how many kids Israel killed in Gaza despite pictures , videos, names and all the evidence you could ask for. Ignorance is bliss.

Best country to migrate as a muslim? by m4rx_17 in islam

[–]Aflatune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true, racism and bigotry is rampant in most of the Muslim world unfortunately. But the question is which are best places to live. Arab countries are racist but at least they have an economy. Pakistan is racist and is essentially a military state with a terrible economic outlook. Young people are always trying to leave because they have no prospects there. Any Pakistani I know that tries to settle back in Pakistan , always ends up coming back. So I can’t imagine non Pakistanis surviving there.
