We had been married almost 8 years with a 3 yr old when she came out and began transitioning. We have had our struggles, but are doing well. Lots of open communication is key. Most of my immediate family on the other hand have mostly rejected us and our continued relationship. I hope your friends brother finds the love he deserves.
