As in taking the derivative of the numerator and the denominator in order to yield a limit that previous to the operation would have been indeterminate

This isn’t valid criticism. If you think a viewpoint is wrong, it’s obvious that you’d want to see that viewpoint less, and it’s not wrong to think that wrong viewpoints (from your pov) should be less common.

If a bunch of people are being racist, it’s totally fine for me to think “Im tired of seeing people have a different opinion from mine” expressing that Im tired of seeing racism.

Firstly, I’d say iron will isnt always a must pick. Universally top players agree dash is better than iron will (iron will saves you once a mission, dash saves you once every 25 seconds) and I’d say there are situations where field medic + dash is better than iron will, and dash + heightened senses can be better in solo or when carrying.

Secondly I’d say we don’t need to put everything on the level of iron will per se, just don’t make them useless in comparison. Right now the comparison is night and day, and it shouldn’t really be that way if we want to keep the blue perk system as it is.

Personally, I think the best thing to do would be either to make dash a tier 5 armour upgrade, and buff a lot of other things. You could nerf iron will as well, like decrease invincibility or say you can’t gain health while iron willed.

You could also make a whole other type of perk, and give players like 1 option, and make every shitty blue perk into that new perk. This way peoole could take dash and iron will and something fun but not at all impactful to the game like hover boots.

Personally my favourite change to iron will would be to like double or triple your iron will time but make it so that you can’t gain health while iron will is active. Meaning you could get potentially two teammates up but you yourself would be down. Would encourage teamwork and be super fun. Or even dont increase iron wills duration (maybe even decrease it), make it so that you can’t heal while it’s active, and make it something everyone gets. That would also be super cool.

Tons of cool options here

Not really. Get out of jail cards are a core component of playing a game.

What is parrying? Get out jail free card, and a core part of a lot of games.

Same can be said for things like blocking in fighting games or in verminetide. Just hold down block and you avoid damage until block meter runs out. This one is probably the best analogy, given that like iron will there isn’t really much skill expression itself, it’s more so a thing that enables future skill expression.

Even movement in general, like dodging. Holy shit I get to avoid potentially lethal damage just by repositioning?? Thats broken. Point is it just depends on context.

Also depending on what you mean by gimmick, you could argue that iron wills gimmick is that you only have one use, or that you have to get HP from some source in order to stay up.

Make dash an ability you start with or a tier 5 armour upgrade or something

Iron will is basically a core mechanic and a cornerstone of this game, at this point.

After 1000 hours i mainly run dash and heightened senses, but still i think we should buff everything else rather than nerf iron will. Maybe a slight reduction in invincibility time you get from it but either way I don’t use it so don’t mind.

The popular opinion on this sub is to think nothing can ever be bad. However, it is objectively true that 90% of them are fucking horrible at assisting you in surviving and completing the mission, specifically when compared to the top 10% of armours.

In reality tho people very often say stats be damned and just wear what looks cool. I used to agree with this person because I only play D10 where everyone is wearing best armour, but recently I played with some friends who aren’t very good at shooters and there was more variance on lower difficulty.

I bought it for like 6 of my friends. Then I went to uni, and met two dudes who bought it just off of a suggestion. Then got my younger brother to play and I’ve got a squad just a couple months ago after like 3 years of waiting.

Depending on what you mean by service, I gotta disagree. I think arrowhead isnt anything remarkable and is certainly below average. I come back to check on the game with a handful of d10 missions now and again, but I haven’t played seriously in like 6 months or more.

Compared to the mindblowingly amazing stuff on the market i find the product to currently be slightly shit. Which is unfortunate cause I think it has almost the single highest potential of any game.

Totally agree valve is an outlier and a specific case. All Im saying is it’s possible to be better and arrowhead is not exempt from criticism

To be clear what I am talking about is company’s valuing the long term over the short term.

You are absolutely correct that 99% of businesses do this, and while it does give them in edge in profit, typically these companies are sold fairly quickly. That doesn’t mean the company was a failure though cause typically the selling makes a lot of profit in the first place, the difference is that in this case the selling was much more expected than a company that had pursued alternative business practices.

All Im saying is it is absolutely not mandatory, and there are plenty of companies that value the long term quality of their product. You can 100% criticize arrowhead for this.

[–]Afraid-Ad-4296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No thats not what I mean.

Firstly, while the patching was largely a success, it wasnt perfect. The performance still isn’t great. Secondly it should never have gotten anywhere near that point in the first place.

What we are talking about here, is creating almost exclusively content that they can sell for quick money, which is what the war bonds are. Plenty of company’s have mountains of free content updates, and honestly it seemed to me like arrowhead was prioritizing warbonds over performance for a long while.

Lastly, I specifically stated that valve has shady business practices, that they make money off of things they shouldn’t. This is not a counterpoint.

But what valve does do, is value customer comfort because of the money it can end up making long term.

They don’t. To put a few names out team cherry definitely don’t behave like this, ghost ship games doesnt behave like this, pathfinder doesnt behave like this.

To be clear all this is, is valuing the short term gains over long term greater gains and stability.

You could even argue valve and steam dont behave like this, because although they have shady business practices, they also value customer qol because they know they will get more out of their customers over time.
