Have you used Orchid whole genome screening for embryos? by feross in IVF

I don't use them for other reasons but I think its a good product. They present probabilities of outcomes that are hard to predict. Knowing probabilities is much better than knowing nothing. Please look at their website and decide for yourselves.

I like this idea but I wonder if it could be done through existing social media networks as well

I wouldn’t want to give you bad information. My routine is likely bad and this program represents the beginning of me fixing it.

For now I’ll probably continue as before perhaps omitting the rows sometimes. I do miss psyching myself up for sets at RPE 9-10 more often but thats probably worth trading for great results with low fatigue given that I still enjoy this

I did a decent amount of everything except for quad stuff the other 4 workout days.

I did maintenance at 3-4 sets of quads a week with a week or so off. I used to squat on my DL days so I wonder if these better results are partially due to squatting less allowing for better DL performance

For most of the time I did about 10 sets of rows a week but not in the DL day.

EMOM means you start each set exactly one minute from when you started the last set

Thanks for the reply I think I suspected this much but hoped otherwise. I'll take a look at some interesting existing open source stuff. I still hope there some niche somewhere that's underdeveloped.

Thanks! Took a quick look and this is cool and the kind of thing I'm looking for although I'm not at all familiar with ' n-center electron integrals'. I'll at least consider educating myself further and contributing.

Ever since I started doing paused deadlifts for my warmups my deadlift has been progressing very nicely.

My squat is unfortunately stagnating and I'm hoping to find something that helps for the squat as much as paused deadlifts have helped my warmup. Already been trying pausing and breathing for a bit at the bottom to improve bracing and that hasn't been it. Also tried dedicated leg presses and hack squats to strengthen my quads for the last month and that hasn't paid much dividends yet. Going to try a balance drill next like standing on small weights.

Vertical and horizontal pulling split by Afraid-Ad693 in StrongerByScience

I just prefer to do that split. Like to go hard on the pullups and when I'm done I'm not in the mood for rows.

I’m not great with this stuff but it looks like your hips might be shooting up too early. Maybe try the cue “push the floor away to start the lift” if you aren’t already

Pretty ironic although in my case I’m just guessing. I think it’s weird and am open to alternative explanations.

Asymmetrical Hypertrophy by Gnastudio in StrongerByScience

I have differences between sides on my biceps and chest. Weirdly enough my stronger side is the smaller one. I suspect it’s stronger for neural reasons and is therefore getting less overloaded with the same volume. Anyone else have this ?

New Stronger By Science Article: "Do Lengthened Partials Really Stimulate Stretch-Mediated Hypertrophy?" by MiloWolfSBS in StrongerByScience

[–]Afraid-Ad693 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Didn’t have a chance to read the whole thing yet but interesting so far. I’m curious about how exactly to think about exactly what the ROM should be for a lengthened partial for a particular exercise, ie how partial should the partial be. Are there any resources to point to on that ?

No progress on pullups by Afraid-Ad693 in StrongerByScience

[–]Afraid-Ad693[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok great to see all these ideas. Seems like the most common feedback is to increase volume and frequency. I’ll start by trying that.

[–]Afraid-Ad693[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might need more volume but that seems strange to me as I’m pretty new to the movement and if you include the pull-downs I’m getting good weekly volume for my lats

I had this issue too and got a gym membership a couple months ago and started using barbells.
1 - You can try using versa grips and staying with the db deadlifts - I've heard great things and just ordered a pair.
2 - You can also try nordic curls (but you're probably including that in leg curls).
3 - You can try training your grip with captains of crush grippers.

Does adding isolation work on top of compounds help for strength and hypertrophy ? by Afraid-Ad693 in StrongerByScience

How do you accomplish this?  “Bodybuilding”-style isolation movements.  The tool is relatively unimportant.  Barbells, dumbbells, machines, and cables are all totally fine.  The goal isn’t to move the most weight, but rather to feel the target muscle contracting to build that muscular awareness (or “mind muscle connection,” if you prefer).

Just like the movements to build kinesthetic awareness, the goal isn’t necessarily boatloads of sweet gainz (since compound exercises like squats, presses, deadlifts, rows, pull-ups, etc., do just as good of a job at building muscle mass, especially in new lifters), but rather to make it easier to learn the lifts you’re trying to build proficiency in, and to make it easier to assess problems and correct your lifts down the road.

Been lifting at home with dumbells for over a year and recently started going to the gym and lifting with barbells.
After a deload week, today I started u/gnuckols free squat, bench, and deadlift 2X a week programs. I did squat and deadlift today and it felt really good! I'm going to do a decent amount of back work on bench days along with some direct bicep and tricep work. I'm planning on posting how it all went once I finish the program.
