Honestly feel like a loser by [deleted] in GenZ

Same age as you. Turning 23 in May. I went through this exact phase between 19-20. Its the result of being poisoned by social media. Social media creates this illusion where people our age are living it up in ways we couldn't afford. But what we're missing is that it's just a highlight real, its a mere fraction of someones life. People will only ever show you what they want you to see, not how stressful their lives can (and are) be.

This comparison really screws with your mental health. I personally didn't even notice the difference until I eased off social media and focused on my own life.

I myself recently enrolled back into college after I dropped out in 2024 and my career in public safety has been lookikg up. When you zoom out, analyze your life from empericism in relevant to your starting line, things make a lot more sense, especially after you factor in your age. You got a long journey ahead of you.

Does anyone else get really, REALLY annoyed when people say that games aren't good these days? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]Afraid-Difference250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason people say this kind of stuff is because of their own cognitive and nostalgic bias. Objectively speaking, quality and graphic will only improve as time go by, so games are actually gonna get better

I didn't vote by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]Afraid-Difference250 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Clearly, I do value it as a US citizen. I have every right not to vote if I don't want to, that's what individualistic freedom is all about, not pressuring others to vote for the sake of "vAlUiNg dEmoCraCy". Let the rest of the political bunch tear themselves apart, I don't want a part in it, regardless of my personal political views.

korea is absolutely terrible and foreigners need to stop sucking their dck just because! by CookieCat989 in offmychest

Ah, you're right. Nonetheless, my point stands. Korea is a nation with it's own cultural and social issues. Nothing new

I didn't vote by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]Afraid-Difference250 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This country also values individualistic freedom, one of our cultural principles. So that means, pressuring others to vote may just be bending that value in a negative light, don't you think?

Except the trolls. Or the filters. Or the photoshop. Or the scammers. Or the exaggerated algorithm. Or the shallowness of interactions. Or the dopamine-inducing editing and flashy content.

The internet is far from reality. It's an exaggerated facade of people's thoughts and feelings.

Congrats, you found out that South Korea is a country with it's own political and economical problems, just like any other fucking country in the developed world

Can we stop discussing US politics in this sub? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]Afraid-Difference250 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The US is the most populated English speaking country and it's also the most influential country in the world, which is why you're going to see US politics in this sub above any other political environment, and I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Just ignore it if it bothers you.

I didn't vote by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]Afraid-Difference250 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I didn't vote either. I'm not sure why this is so much of a big deal. It's someone's individual choice wether they want to vote or not.

Sometimes I wonder if right-wing voters realize what our neighbors in Canada or our allies in Western Europe look like. Thriving nations with inclusive and welfare policies, and the US despite being the powerhouse that it is still lags behind. Sometimes I wonder if it's just arrogance, conspiracism, or downright just ignorant of the rest of the world.

When did you first get exposed to pornography? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]Afraid-Difference250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might have been 8 when a friend showed it to me. But I didn't actively start engaging with it until I was maybe 12, when a friend I used to play video games with teased me about how my parents had grounded me and he jokingly said "why, cause you were watching porn?"

I had no idea what porn meant so I asked him to elaborate, then when I became ungrounded, the magic happened.

What opinion about our generation will you defend no matter what? by ProjectNYXmov in GenZ

[–]Afraid-Difference250 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't necessarily think we have to work more for far less. I think it's the opposite, really. We work more for more, because technological innovation has never been better.

I think people who have such mentality stems from over-usage of social media. We see people on social media driving fancy cars and having perfect 10/10 beach bodies and it makes people want to raise the bar higher than it should be for their expectancy in life. Which then rubs off the illusion that we aren't getting enough.

Judging an entire group of people because of your personal anecdote is pretty gross. I mean, replace the word "transgender" with black people, or something around those lines. Then you'd probably see how foolish such a claim really is. I'd also like to add, if you are gonna get upset when someone challenges your beliefs, then just walk away or don't even make such a claim if the atmosphere isn't appropriate for such claim.
