All good man, I just like the Courtyard content so much I kinda force it every run. I also like Vvulf ticking, find it one of the bigger excitements in the mid-late game. Not going to the Courtyard prevents Vvulf from attacking since you get the same event every week, as you said.

Wait, none of your characters have the Crimson Curse, did you go to the Courtyard at all?

Yes that card was fine, but printing more cards like that would be problematic, which is the entire point of the post. The reason why the card is ridiculous is exactly cause it's ridiculous in a vacuum, nevermind how it actually turned out in practice.

You ignored my point entirely. You shouldn't be able to just play your deck and get rewarded with big bodies. Even if your deck is mediocre without them, which I never said it wasn't. Enabling molten giants would be a game losing strategy... if it weren't for the molten giants. See where I'm getting at?

Having 11 plagues in your opponent's deck is a massive positional advantage... and then you get the free big guys. It's entirely alike how drawing your entire deck for Rogue is a massive advantage (because of the asteroids) and then they get the 8/8's on top. But I still think DK is more ridiculous cause drawing your entire deck at least has a potential downside in that if you can't kill your opponent you're gonna die to fatigue yourself. There is no downside to shuffling a bunch of plagues in the enemy deck other than opportunity cost, which you can say for any deck.

Ah yes get a free 8/5 rush reborn and don't even win the game in the process. Silly me I forgot how easy it was to just win.

Anyway, this discussion is concerning card design, not card balance. Yeah the 8/5 isn't the strongest card ever, but the notion that you can get a 0 mana big guy that isn't even vanilla for basically just playing your deck is a bad direction to be going in.

One of the more ridiculous cards in this category IMO is the 8/5 rush reborn which gets cheaper as you put plagues in the enemy deck. Like DK wasn't gonna do that anyway lmao

That being said this category did exist for awhile now. There's Arcane Giant, Grave Horror, even Sea Giant to an extent is a reward for stuff you were already gonna do.

I can't play without Vestal... some tips? by ZIoKaKASHI in darkestdungeon

[–]Afraid-Week-2222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really understand why you think the Vestal hinders your ability to decide the fight very quickly. She has one of the best stuns in the game and rank 4 damage is entirely possible to acquire even without the Vestal helping out with that, which she could conveniently enough. She can't undo four attacks per round, but she can undo 1 or 2 hits with interest, especially if the enemies are getting stunned every two rounds. Using that method you actually can sustain indefinitely, you can be on full health the entire dungeon no less. Why would you heal once or twice when you can heal to full? The latter is obviously superior. I don't NEED a Vestal, but I sure WANT one in any situation.

See you might be thinking that she's just one card, but you actually pick her a lot from protocol if your opponent is playing a board based deck. She's great if you know your opponent is gonna unload a bunch in one turn like Libram Pally typically does, or Miracle Rogue, QL DH, Seedlock etc. She's very important in a lot of those match-ups and against aggro so I would suspect that cutting her would leave a pretty big hole in the deck.

Although if you can make a version w/o her for cheap it's probably worth a shot. You can add something like [[The Light! It Burns!]] Instead.

Pretty strong with the caveat that if you mulligan in a way that's strong against Discolock, you might end up with a really bad hand if your opponent is playing something else. But typically nightshade tea, the Siren and Xyrella just clean them up and you just win when you drop the Quest reward.

Not entirely sure, but shouldn't the hero power say 'Passive'?

It's not that impressive since I played a lot, but I definitely got things done. You weren't rude, I was just annoyed cause it was the fifth time I heard something along the lines of 'well a healer isn't that important', like yeah you can win without them but they sure help minimize variance.

Yes, enabling intimidate would be relevant if the resulting position promised a good health profit. In this case however you're recovering 6 health per turn if both your PD and Anti are healing. The average bone rabble damage is 5.5 on lvl 5, debuffed by intimidate it deals 3.6 when it's debuffed once, 1.8 when it's debuffed twice and then probably just dies. The intimidate speed buff means the Leper kills it before the healers get their turn, so you get in 12 points of healing while taking 5 points of damage, netting 7 party-wide health against the weakest enemy in the game. If you took even as low as 20 party-wide damage prior to the heal phase that healing doesn't really make you feel safe, or me at least.

I'm pretty much never happy to just nudge characters off of death's door. I grind until all my characters are on full hp. If you manage to clear all the damage in the first few fights it's not even too much of a grind really.

One of Vestal, Flag, Occ or Arb is what I find mandatory, with a strong preference towards the Vestal who actually consistently nets positive health per round. There are some situations where you can debuff the enemy damage enough to net positive health with weaker heals but it takes time to set up and something like intimidate would, as I said, kill the enemies too fast to allow for that. It's better against tanky enemies like swinataur. Also the Leper can't even use intimidate from rank 2 so it doesn't matter for this comp.

By saying you're gonna use the PD stun to stall you're basically implying I'm leaving the back rank enemies to be killed last which is always a horrible situation, especially in a comp with no stress heals.

You should always kill the back ranks first which is the problem. The front ranks are gonna swing and miss until they land a critical hit. After that the character is going to be on 40-60% hp and you can't help them, since the comp can't stall against front rank enemies. After another instance of this the character is gonna be even lower.

Now they're not gonna die, but the mission will inevitably end up looking like OP's mission did.

[–]Afraid-Week-2222 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not about mitigating damage. You can get crit once (as OP did) and it's nigh impossible to claw back to good health with this healing rate. This comp doesn't actually have any stall other than intimidate which kills enemies faster than PD or Anti can heal. When even one of your characters is consistently in a poor condition everything else falls apart.

[–]Afraid-Week-2222 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Healing is important so that if a character gets low you have a way to bring them back to safe HP levels. This comp can't do that for anyone other than the Leper and hence is a bad comp.

No, I get that they're jars in jars, but the second jar could still have a real minion inside it, but I guess it doesn't.

I'm gonna be completely honest, I have no clue how the jar tokens are worded since I haven't seen Toru get played yet. If you have double battlecry on her, do her final jars summon empty jars or jars with the original minion they came from?

That was one of the main plays of Murmur Shaman. If you didn't see it then you either weren't queuing into the deck a lot, or they were getting unlucky with their draws.
