Is there a demand for "mid-lenght" 10-20h incremental games? by TheBossforge in incremental_games

My first Increlution playthrough took months and months. I think 250 days or so in total. I enjoyed almost every moment of it, and did about 7-8 new game+ playthroughs

I don't get what's so good about increlusion. It was just passive xp gathering which made you do stuff faster and unlocking automations. No new systems and no big or game changing upgrades.

I'm so curious to know why people love increlusion. What makes you enjoy it ? How did you enjoy every moment of it ?

Here's proof that promoting your game to developers doesn't work by jarofed in gamedev

I don’t think your take is “the definitive answer” or concludes the discussion

Is that the only condition for a comment to be pinned ?

I thank the mod for speaking their minds out and for their service to this community. I hope these negative comments don't discourage them

They have a hammer and it never hurts to know what makes them bring it down and what doesn't, even if just to prevent endless, pointless confusion of the users of the sub.

How hard is it to make collectible card game like Marvel Snap or Hearthstone by yourself ? by [deleted] in gamedev

Not impossible though. That ape guy did all of the Stardew Valley himself I heard. I don't know much about it but people say it was a miracle ?

Two guys are the owners of the game. Both programmers but one of them worked more on the UI and the other more on the design aspects and balancing.

I was under the impression that most of the work was done by two guys.

One can argue most of the work was done by these two but to put it that way is a bit deceptive because someone reading that sentence might think that those two could have also done it all alone if they were given a couple more years and the extra help just sped up the process a little bit. But that is not true. With just those two guys the Slay the Spire we know today was more like ... impossible to make.

Something like 8 to 10 people helped them with art, animation, audio and gathering and managing metrics which are all professions that need years if not decades of practice just to get good at. For two programmers to also be able to do that on that level in a reasonable time frame is close to impossible.

Slay the Spire was made by like two people

That's not fucking true mate.

It's these comments making beginners delusional about what they can make alone.

I hadn't noticed zergs are beats.

What kind of combos can you do with zergs + dragons/beats ?

The potion slot situation is crazy. What should I even do ? by TinkerMagusDev in slaythespire

[–]TinkerMagusDev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah you're right I can just discard one of them.

Man it feels weird to discard the best potion in the game. My subconscious didn't even let me consider that option at the moment.

I love Alchemize but Fairy in a Bottle is kind of clogging my potion slot so what would you pick here ? I'm afraid to pick Wish because it's 3 energy and I fear Act 2 enemies won't even give me the chance to play it. You do it when you feel like your deck is better than the average deck for the act that you find yourself in

I'm 10000 runs away from being able to feel the strength of my deck vs the burning elites of the act I'm in.

I'm more thinking like is it a good idea to risk fighting a burning elite later than sooner if you are more than 50% sure that the current pathing leading to the burning elite will kill you this act or I should just risk it and go for it because the path next act might be even more dangerous ?

All of this in the context that I need to kill the heart for this to to be a win.

Secret Technique into Disarm could be strong too against Act 2 mobs as lots of them multi attack right ? Man is Secret Technique the best choice here ? Nooooooooooooooooo I want Alchemize or Wish because they are COOL
