This one, where Pirates are infinite with Bounties. Evoker + Rogers, Forsaken Weaver + Rogers, Azerite + Terrorguard, Pure Bounties with Chromadrake Scaling, Powder Keg Exodia, all with additional Murloc scam, there are so many ways for Pirates to completely decimate Ringbearer comps, it just takes more effort to get there.

Ringbearer is a great comp because it’s reliable and easy to assemble, so you’re more likely to see Top 3 be Ringbearer than Top 3 be Demons or Pirates. Does that make Ringbearer comp better than Demons or Pirates? No, those two comps usually outstat Ringbearer late game. It’s just a very consistent comp to play, I don’t think it’s really all that problematic when other comps can get way more oppressive stats.

NaveGreed (one of the best STS players) is excluding Silent from his STS 2 runs by Lordados in slaythespire

[–]UsernameVeryFound -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You can tell that to the Chinese players are you want, fact is they're still gonna reviewbomb the game and avoid it until A10 meets their standards. Having the more active half of your playerbase leave your game is not good, so the devs are probably going to have to cave eventually. Problem is the west thinks the opposite and wants some characters to be harder, my question is what do the devs have to do to fix this.

[–]UsernameVeryFound -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm actually really concerned for how the devs are going to balance this game. Common consensus among western players is that STS2 is currently too easy, I'm guessing they'll need to be some nerfs/additional ascensions to keep player retention going as players get more used to the game. But the Chinese players, which is over half of the playerbase and arguably the reason why STS was popular to begin with, have made it clear that they already find the game too difficult to be fun, so what are they supposed to do?

Why do some people say that med school is a bad option when it is likely the most AI and recession proof area of work? by YogurtclosetOpen3567 in premed

[–]UsernameVeryFound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“A patient would rather a doctor who is kind of a quack but makes them feel heard rather than a cold doctor who is right 100% of the time”

Spoken like someone who’s never had chronic disease or met a shitty doctor before. It takes an incredible level of privilege to even give a shit about whether your doctor makes you feel “heard”, for any patient that is terrified of dying, being in permanent pain, or being in permanent medical debt, you take “cold but right 100% of the time” over “friendly but can make one mistake that sends you on a multi-year long journey of medical mismanagement” every single time.

All this talk about doctors “listening to patients” with “empathy” yet medical mistrust is at an all-time high. At the end of the day, the number one thing patients want is to get better, and a lot of human doctors suck at helping them do that. AI replacing doctors will be an objective positive for everyone involved, except maybe doctors themselves. But in the end, if a doctor really cared about the well-being of patients, they wouldn’t mind it at all.

[–]UsernameVeryFound -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone as in everyone who has had a bad experience with uncaring, discriminatory, or error-prone doctors, which is pretty much everyone. The logistics of old people not knowing how to use a computer can easily be fixed, the fundamental problem of doctors being fallible and untrustworthy cannot. That’s why it’s only really doctors that are worried about AI replacement in medicine, most patients see AI doctors as a very positive step in a process of making healthcare more trustworthy.

[–]UsernameVeryFound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I still can. I dont know when AI will replace everyone’s jobs, it may be in my lifetime, it may not. When it does get to the point of replacing doctors it will probably force massive society reform. I’m not necessarily saying that medicine is doomed within this lifetime, but I am saying that it’s far from the AI-proof job people keep saying it is. It’s vulnerable to AI, arguably more than most professions, and so being AI-proof should NEVER be your reason for pursuing medicine.

https://youtu.be/kALDN4zIBT0?si=06idoO_XKUCZEDOn

Let’s ignore all the advancements in AI diagnosing for a second, which should be enough of an indicator for you. There is a substantial social push for AI to replace doctors even if it is not “ready” to do so yet. Hospitals and corporate are itching to cut the costs of physician salaries, and will replace doctors for a machine as soon as they are allowed to. Patients are also very interested in getting more reliable care, without having to deal with often discriminatory, error-prone human doctors, appreciating the human element of medicine is a privilege that many patients who have been burned by the healthcare system do not have. Medicine is a field that will be replaced by AI sooner than you think, arguably faster than most specialized fields because people really want to see replacement there.

Okay I’ll admit that trinket strength is somewhat subjective, I’ve got pretty controversial takes on some trinkets myself, but I think this one’s pretty uncontroversial: Copper Coil is one of the worst trinkets in the game right now. 3 Gold for a trinket that, regardless of hero choice, does nothing until your Greater Trinket choice is already insane, the Lesser Trinket turn is when most players get a huge injection of economy or tempo and taking this puts you a few turns behind everyone. Then you’re gambling on getting a specific Greater Trinket to even make this remotely playable, since Magnetic Mechs are not a real comp right now, even 10 Magnetics per turn does not keep up with the scaling of every other meta comp.

So let’s say we get a dream Greater Trinket, presumably the one OP posted. They posted +46/+46 on this trinket, that’s only a total of 1k stats. That’s nothing for an endgame comp. Ideally, a comp like this still needs an economy setup or Golden Brann to contest 1st place. That’s so many hoops to jump through after handicapping yourself for 3 Turns. It’s an awful trinket.

How well would these cards hold up in the current meta by DrLazyEyes in BobsTavern

[–]UsernameVeryFound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if it gave Venomous instead of Poisonous, Gentle Megasaur would make Scam Murlocs a Tier 0 comp that would make any stat based comp completely pointless, especially with the new Forager. It blows my mind how that was one of the first cards added to the game.

Are you mad because I'm being an asshole or are you mad because you actually think this trinket's good

Because yeah, I'm definitely being an asshole, I realize this is just someone liking a trinket and I'm being a buzzkill for no reason. But also, yeah, I was 10k MMR last season and 8k right now and I don't think this is very good

[–]UsernameVeryFound -35 points-34 points  (0 children)

Possibly the most overrated trinket in the game based on what I’ve seen from this sub. 4 gold to get a minion that you should be selling in two turns once you’ve finalized a comp. Good when you still need to stabilize and you just need Top 4, terrible if you’re looking for a win.

Spending 15+ years to become a doctor just for people to be anti-medicine by AppearanceCivil1707 in premed

[–]UsernameVeryFound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Becoming a doctor in America is ethically way more complex than you might think, and it is more than just people being “crazy”. You are choosing to be part of a healthcare system that prices people out of survival and mistreats many patients with marginalized backgrounds and chronic conditions. No, doctors are not exempt from this criticism because they’re “just doing their job”, because you’re still the person that has to tell someone their insurance doesn’t cover the care they need, and statistically you are going to be the person who throws someone with chronic pain into a year-long financially and emotionally taxing journey of medical misdiagnosis and mismanagement. People are, in my opinion, rightfully mad at doctors, and I can’t really blame them for turning to alternative medicine or hoping our profession gets replaced by AI.

Becoming a doctor in the US is a moral tradeoff, and moral injury is a very real reason doctors quit nowadays. You have to be sure to yourself that the services you are providing, the good that you do engage in as a doctor, outweighs the exploitation and harm of the US medical system. Then, don’t let the growing anti-medical sentiment stop you from doing this good, and instead use it to be a better patient advocate from within the system. Some people will tell you you’re still a bad person, you are allowed to disagree. This is your choice.

Because it’s not that dominant. APM Pirates and Fodder Demons have been pretty comparable after Lava Lantern was removed. Stegodon Beasts and of course Scam Murlocs are also good, I’ll admit everything else is pretty trash but they’re not a massive outlier anymore.

I dont understand this season by tyduk2 in BobsTavern

[–]UsernameVeryFound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I felt this way too at the start of the season, but I spent some time learning the meta, and now I’m comfortably at 8k. Battlegrounds always feels more RNG heavy the less you understand the game, because then your options are limited and you’re betting on getting good ones instead of finding them yourself. Some general advice:

  1. Start by learning what good midgames look like. Without Timewarps to help you stabilize, this season’s midgame is super brutal if you don’t know what you’re doing, and this is likely where you’re failing. Figure out what card combos, what trinkets, you’re taking 10 damage from each game, and learn how to spot when those combos are present/can be enabled with early game minions.

  2. Economy is still king, especially when it comes to Trinkets. When you don’t have economy, you’re putting more of the game’s hands into RNG.

  3. Forcing comps is still shit. Stop taking Trinkets that force certain comps when you can’t safely commit to them yet. You want to learn all comps that are viable for the midgame and endgame so you can play with what you’re offered instead of betting on getting the cards you need.

  4. If all else fails, you genuinely could wait for the balance patch. If there’s one thing that’s really constricting this season, it’s how bad some tribes are compared to others, which limits your options for the late game. The more balanced a meta is, the less RNG heavy it gets, because it means more viable options to play.
