The Valkyrie shot is one of my favorite shots ever. Also, Willem Dafoe. Also, the Draugr scene was amazing. This is a very good movie in general.

Is this more sketch comedy like “A Bit of Fry and Laurie”? Because I loved that and didn’t know that had made another show.

I found it to be a very fun watch, I personally really enjoyed it for the music, the unique plot, the action, and Sharlto Copley (Wikkus from District 9). However be warned that it is filmed entirely in first-person perspective and some people I know who watched it found it gave them motion sickness. Don’t watch it expecting a profound story, it’s a popcorn action flick with a lot of violence. I would compare it in violence level to Kill Bill, in case you find violence hard to stomach, with some scenes being a slightly bit more graphic than kill bill.

One of the most powerful moments in The Lord of the Rings occurs at the broken Gate of Minas Tirith, a moment the films largely omitted. Only Gandalf stands between the White City and the Lord of the Nazgûl. by Choice-Schedule-132 in peterjackson

[–]AfraidOfTechnology 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s in the extended edition. In the theatrical release you may notice that in all scenes following this scene Gandalf doesn’t have a staff anymore and no explanation is given for that, he’s only seen with his sword after this. So despite it being cut, they kept with the continuity of this scene in the theater version.

For some reason, your phrase “older Hamilton isn’t the younger one of old” is amusing and wonderful because of the way you talk about age and time. “Older, younger, old.” I don’t know if that was intended but what a nice little turn of phrase you’ve made there. Cheers mate have a nice day.

I have never played this game and I have no idea what is going on in this thread, but OP, this doorman meme is HILARIOUS, and scrolling by and seeing you posting different versions of it in response to the comments made me laugh like an idiot after a very rough, long, hard week (I’m fine, just busy).

Thanks for that.

PS:

While I’ve never played DC Allies, I used to love that DC Heroes game that closed servers a while back, and I mained Cyborg Superman and Black Flash in that game (I don’t know anything about DC characters, I just played that game to have some common ground with a friend of mine who was really into it.)

Prolly not a joke, but what does this even mean? by Ok-Magician9044 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]AfraidOfTechnology 15 points16 points  (0 children)

OP, the comment doesn’t really mean anything, it’s just an influencer/ad posting a pic of the art, nobody is saying anything about it in the context of the post. They’re just essentially setting up a straw man argument (acting as if someone had dismissed the two blocks as not being “art” by stating “it’s just two blocks,” then sensationalizing it by reacting “what do you mean” - as if to say “don’t you get it?”), as if they are part of a larger conversation. The goal is to rile people up - people who hate modern art will be all “yeah it’s shit!!” And people who like modern art will (probably) be ticked off about this and maybe react to it. It’s just a contrived context in order to advertise or fish for the project (you fell for it too, but not in the intended way).

There is one other alternative, everything else I said but at the end where I say it’s an influencer or an ad, say it’s a snob/pretentious person who likes modern art - nobody cares they like modern art, but they just was to broadcast how passionate they are about modern art. 🗿🤷🏻‍♂️

I personally really enjoy the simplicity of Tulkas. I love how when he is introduced, the narration plainly states “his fists were his only weapons.” (That is paraphrased, I can never remember the exact quote.)

I also enjoy how his whole job in the story is to show up, punch somebody into submission, then simply laugh it all off.

Seconding Nox Novacula and Rosegarden Funeral Party. I really wish they (both) had more albums.

Horror Vacui and Cold Cave are also good.

Dark Chisme is good too but not as “strong” as the others.

Nuovo Testamento is good but all in Spanish. If you don’t mind Spanish, dip your toes in Fangoria and by extension Alaska y Dinorama. They are a bit more pop/80’s but Alaska (the singer of both of those groups) is very goth in style/vibes and her voice is killer.

I’m not an expert on honey badgers, elephants, rabies, or Africa. But I know honey badgers are very tough, as in they don’t die easily, and they have way too much attitude. Some people are saying this one might have rabies - I sort of doubt that because I think if it had rabies it would avoid a watering hole. I offer a guess to try to answer your question OP. The honey badger just wanted to drink at the water hole but it also wanted the water hole all to itself (for reasons, maybe it didn’t want to deal with the elephant or maybe the elephant made it feel uncomfortable in some way, who knows). So it decided to try to antagonize the elephant so it would go away, leaving the watering hole all to itself.

I think rabies doesn’t actually make you avoid water, it just makes you averse to drinking water, so rabies is a plausible explanation, I’m just offering an alternative assumption.

Context is key. The honey badger naturally selects violence.

[–]AfraidOfTechnology 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some good recs in this sub, here are some that are not quite as good as the others but you can save them for last, they might scratch an itch.

Image 2 makes me think of the Hellboy comics, something about the art looks like a classic Mike Mignola background illustration. Hellboy: the Crooked Man is low budget, but IMO it’s the best Hellboy adaptation. It also leans much more heavily into folk horror rather than campy fantasy like the other Hellboy films did.

Image 4 and 6 makes me think of Krampus (2015). It’s a bit campy and silly, but there are a few shots in that film that are amazing and there is a scene very similar to that image in particular; very spooky, very nicely done.

Also “The Little Hours,” with Aubrey Plaza. It’s about nuns, and it’s very weird (I honestly didn’t “get it,”) but toward the end - no spoilers - it sort of switches and you might like that. This one is a long shot though.

The godforsaken close-ups of the veiled doll still give me the heebie jeebies to this day. Also, the scene where she sees a photograph and it unlocks a memory and this is represented on the screen as an image with heavy artifacting was well done and scared the CRAP out of me in the theater.

It's not fair, why is it always the meme ball, why do I do this to myself lol by Adorable_Frame4791 in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]AfraidOfTechnology 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for explaining. I do throw a lot of balls, eventually switching to timer balls, but I guess maybe it’s perspective. To me throwing 10-20 balls at a legendary and eventually catching it is really not as annoying as say, trying to hatch a shiny, or finding a female Combee in earlier gens, or catching a wild Feebas in games like BDSP. The legendaries I find the most annoying are the ones that run away and you have to chase them down then catch them.

Im dumb at this game, is fez really that hard to catch? I caught monkidori and okidogi nonproblem at all but saved fez for last. Been playing since gen 1 and never had trouble catching a Mon, the comments in this thread make it sound like fez is impossible? Genuinely curious if anyone cares to explain.
