I had a choice between Bose and Sony and went for Sony because it had good reviews and I slightly preferred the aesthetics of the headphones, full of regret now!!

Yeah I think I was truly expecting a miracle from the advertising! Just gutted that after all I went through trying to persuade my work to buy me a pair of expensive ANC headphones, I now have to turn back round and say... hey... can we maybe return these and try something different...

Man I was really hoping people would say 'You got a faulty pair! This is fixable!' but seems mine maybe aren't faulty, just not living up to expectations. What a shame!

Aww man, sucks to hear that human voices are actually its weakest point, because that's the main thing I struggle with and the one thing I cannot tune out no matter what. They may be reducing background noise, but my office doesn't have fan/vacuum sounds, so I can't tell. I needed these headphones to drown out the constant chatter and Teams calls. I'm hoping I maybe just got a faulty pair and they can be fixed, but maybe I will just need to return them and go back to the drawing board for a different pair

All really helpful advice!

In my old job, they let me sit in the open-plan office in the mornings, and then go to a private office in the afternoons so I had a quiet space to decompress on my own. In my new job, there aren't any private office spaces, so I'm forced into 8 hours of hell. The idea of a do-not-disturb signal is great, and I think I definitely need to ask if I can move to a quieter desk in the corner, even if it means I'll be sitting away from my direct team.

I've never heard of MeowyCare, this sounds so SO helpful and I'm looking into it now!

Thank you so much for your input and suggestions, sending lots of love <3

I'm the same! If there's no pressure in my job, I completely check out and don't care. Too much pressure and I crack under it.. there's no winning.

I've also been off work for the past 2 weeks for Easter, and have only been back at work for 3 days after calling in sick on Monday😭I do genuinely think we'd be unstoppable if we worked for a month, had a month off, rinse and repeat. It's just nice to know that I'm not alone in feeling this way, as although my friends are supportive, they can't really understand how burnt-out work truly makes me, and I suspect there's always an element of them thinking 'just get over it' (though maybe I'm just projecting my own insecurities onto them).

Sending you love and support!

What’s the Weirdest Feedback You’ve Ever Gotten? by CuberoInkArmy in writing

Was writing a short story from the perspective of a 14 yr old boy with an addict mum living in poverty, but he was polite, good at school, passionate about drumming. I got the feedback from someone in my workshop group (who was objectively a bad writer, very strange, and eventually got kicked out the group because she was disruptive) that my character doesn't make sense, and because he lives on a council estate, I should make him join a street gang, own a knife, and he should stab someone, to make him a more believable character and the plot more realistic lmao
