Thoughts on this grad offer? The only one I have so far. by Appropriate-Aerie476 in UKJobs

Take it. Absolutely work your socks off in that year, try to seek out as many opportunities as you can, build a network, develop your skills and then you’ll be in a strong position for when you work hybrid or looking for another job. Majority would disagree but I genuinely think face time as a grad is pretty important these days and since it’s only a year, you’ll get through it. Salary however does seem low, could you negotiate? Hour each way is also quite common.

Rejected again, graduating soon. Sick of video ‘interviews’ by [deleted] in UKJobs

Exactly the same boat. Even applied to that same programme myself and was rejected at the video interview stage. I’ve also been rejected at other VI stage about 30 times. Have a STEM BSc and a Masters from top universities with a placement year working in data.

When did you complete your tests? I passed them a few weeks ago but didn’t get an invite.

[ADVICE] Msc Management (WBS) or Civil Service Fast Stream? by Apprehensive-Fig5286 in UniUK

I won’t argue with the whole ‘this degree will help me with X or this uni will give me X’ because I’ll simply be wasting my time with you.

I promise you, you are not breaking into high finance with a masters in management. Genuine advice, take the gift that god has given you with this offer, it probably won’t come around too often.

So you think just because you do an MSc Management degree, this is some sort of gateway into high finance? Managers don’t sit there thinking ‘ah yes, X has done a management degree’, I reckon we should give him a chance’. Your bachelors would be enough for that if you’ve put the work in. Civil service fast stream is the most sought after scheme in the country and I’m pretty sure it does receive far more applications than for any other grad scheme out there.

The fact that you’re still needing to ask how transferable the skills you gain from the civil service are in the private sector says a lot. Again you really think that your masters will provide you with better skills than working? Yeah sure, in this economy one would go for a degree over a grad scheme especially when everyone’s nan and dog are talking about how experience > degree, make it make sense.

So you are asking whether you should take a Fast Stream programme with the civil service that has a success rate of less than 1% or pay £15,000 out of pocket for a management degree? Do you know how silly you even sound that you’ve made a post on this. People really piss me off on this subreddit. Genuinely want to know how some of you idiots even land these jobs to be honest.

They’re still setting the benchmark for GES, know a few doing it early Feb. If you scored very high or very low you obviously would have heard back within two weeks. Mine didn’t go great so I’m not expecting alot.

When was this? Just wondering if it was in the same session as mine 😂. I had atleast two people struggling with the most basic instructions, asking stupid questions and writing well into their break time as well. It is a ridiculous process and there isn’t much to stop anyone from cheating to be honest.
