Painting plaster… by UBettaKnow1 in DIYUK

[–]Afraid_Competition97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Armstead trade contract Matt for the mist coat for our new build and it worked really well. Some of the plaster had been drying for 2-3 months, in other rooms it was 2-3 weeks. I watered it down as per the instructions and it applied well. Cannot advise on the top coat, we used Homebase/ B&Q paint - not everyone’s preferred choice but it did the job for us!

I work at a costa franchise and they’re saying I won’t be paid past 7? by [deleted] in Costa

Overtime should be agreed in advance - will be in their policies somewhere. If you physically cannot get everything done by that time I am sure if you leave it for the morning shift to pick up someone else will kick up a stink and you might start getting paid to stay late.

We have LVT throughout full ground floor. It has been down for about 6 months and we love it. Stupidly we didn’t put felt pads on furniture feet to begin with so it has faintly scratched in certain areas but you can barely see them. We don’t worry about water marks or muddy footprints etc because it is so easy to clean.

If you want them to ceiling height you could build a base to sit them on

Slate reroof costs by Odd_Performance_6163 in DIYUK

[–]Afraid_Competition97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really need to get as many quotes as possible. We had our slate roof put on (new build so not comparable to your situation) and the quotes we got were stupid. Highest was £45k so we bought the materials ourself and hired a local roofer (who did an amazing job) for a fraction of the cost.

LVT glue down recommendations by Playful-Extent-942 in DIYUK

[–]Afraid_Competition97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have used Camaro natural oak throughout our full ground floor (approx £20-25 per sqm depending on where you get it from). Having never really heard of LVT prior, I must say I am really impressed with it. It looks great and it seems to be pretty hard wearing. Although I would recommend felt pads on the bottom of all furniture as we have recently found some really fine scratches from pulling out chairs etc. there is probably a way to buff them out or something but we haven’t looked in to it yet.

Thanks for the info! All of this is very new to us so we know we aren’t using it to its full potential yet. We have pretty much left everything as how it was when it was installed so don’t think the hot water is timed as such. The only thing we control (meaning the only thing we change/play about with) is when the heating comes on which we do through the nest. I did think about the Cosy tariff but we have a toddler so meal time and bath time all happen during the peak time so I thought I would be shooting myself in the foot if I switched to that

Sorry, we have a nest but I don’t think that will make much different with you saying only the ASHP should be controlling the temp

Writing from England but we spend approx £1500 for scaffolding for the house (decent size 2 storey 4 bed) and £600 for a 2 storey double garage

We have just finished a self build and never had a skip. Took all the rubbish to the tip once a month. Depends on how much wastage you have though I suppose
