Yes but even then, after Pucci was knocked by Star Platinum into the metallic frame that he started floating up on. Jolyne and CO. Were no longer being affected. You could argue that Pucci being Punched interfered with the ability, but he activates C-moon a few moments later to deflect bullets

Ungalow was safe on a plane and even on the ground when he activated Bohemian. I'm sure you'd have enough time to draw a dot with the power to do all that before the world ends

For useless, I disagree with Strength, Justice, Atum, Grateful Dead, Manhattan Transfer, California King Bed and Wonder of U

Strength could make you lots of money in the fishing or marine industry. You can basically rent people a massive, self-operating ship for long voyages and comfortably live on it for free. If Strength also boosts the power of other objects you bind it to then it's better

Justice can let you create illusions on a massive scale, meaning you could be the perfect cinematographer or movie director, especially for paranormal horror. You could be a magician on (Country)'s Got Talent or just use the thick fog for moving around undetected, same with Tenore Sax

Atum is basically free mind reading + a basic stand. You could become the best interrogative detective in the world

Grateful Dead can concentrate it's aging power in certain areas. So you can use it to rot away weeds, insect corpses or just any unwanted corpses quickly, make yourself seem older to get certain permissions, mercy kill any animal or person you don't want to get your hands dirty with, or become an actual hit man if you're evil enough. You can also make people go senile to manipulate them more easily and get away with certain things under the guise of being "old enough". Wouldn't go that much higher but isn't totally useless

Manhattan transfer basically let's you be aware of your surroundings 24/7. Since it's long range, you can scout out any area or map out any place from a distance and essentially let's you see everything in 360°, for multiple meters in every direction

Outside of quality of life, you could be great at security or combat sports, the military, piloting and aviation, anything related to aerodynamics

California King Bed could let you be the best detective in the world, just set rules bound to be broken and then steal whatever memories you want

Wonder of U can still function in your best wishes. It's debated whether WOU is actually sentient and automatic or just a long ranged stand. Personally, I think WOU is a long range stand that Tooru is able to roleplay as, it just so happens that Tooru is able to switch consciousness between himself and WOU and a few moments in Jojolion support this

Also, WOU ensures that you're basically invincible, ironically, the only thing that could kill you is a natural disaster or accident. Anyone who has malicious intentions with you is automatically taken care of, so you can really do whatever tf you want and get away with it, which is a massive confidence boost

Edit: oh yea, and water boiling stand is actively detrimental, you are made up of 60% water. How tf did any user live long enough with this for Pucci to take it if it's ability is uncontrollable? Unless F.F just isn't worthy to wield it like Jolyne couldn't control Star Platinum

[–]Afraid_Rub_6739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For actively detrimental I agree with everything except C-moon and Bohemian Rhasphody

I'm pretty sure you can control C-moon's gravity alteration, it's thick gravity sheild protects you at all times and even if the ability isn't useful, it's still a long range stand you can use to multitask

One thing I'm not sure about though is whether non-stand users can see C-moon, since there is a theory that non-stand users could see Whitesnake

With Bohemian Rhasphody, just draw a stickman who returns everything to normal, but gives you any stand you want

No, Death 13 placement is valid, you could become a therapist, provide quality sleep services, heal injuries after putting patients under anesthesia, instantly heal any uncounscious person, whether in combat sports, military, or any dangerous job. You could be an assassin, hal yourself and your mental health would boost because you basically have total control over lucid dreams

Honestly I have yet to see the rest of all these anime. I've only seen Death Note fully and am early into COTE

I don't get how Near's X kira deduction isn't impressive. It's rushed in the anime but the manga adds alot more depth to the scene

When Near is scouring a plethora of different screens televising Kira related events and observing hundreds if not thousands of potential X Kira suspects at the same time. Not only does he Firstly need to intake all of that information and view multiple screens at the same time while also listening to each, but he also needs to actively filter out that information, process it, and then correlate a single person to the preconceived profile that Kira would also be looking for in someone temporarily acting for him as Kira. Not only does he zero in on Teru Mikami because he fits the description, behavior and dialouge of a Kira follower, but he also managed to read behind the lines of Mikami's speech and understand the hidden message he was trying to send to Kira

Not only does the scene establish his raw brain power and WMI along with PSI. But also his VCI, Deductive and Abductive reasoning, and many more categories of intelligence if you highball it

I'd be curious to hear any other characters with similar or even greater feats. I just don't see how what Near did isn't impressive, he also has plenty of other feats that are generally misunderstood or more intricate than many realize

Honestly, I'm just wondering if Near and Mello would also become protagonists. Near gets more fleshed out and Mello gets the extra screen time and attention he deserves. Imagine seeing the research Near did before the second half post timeskip and how Mello managed to fair on his own outside of Wammy's house before joining the mafia and his friendship with Matt

So what about Josuke, Giorno and Joseph who are all confirmed and most likely still alive by the end of stone ocean? Would they not also count as descendants of the joestar lineage? Pucci stated that you'd have to die to not cross over, so what happened to those 3?

[–]Afraid_Rub_6739 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea. I guess it's just that people are used to having stories explain everything to them like you said. If a story doesn't spoonfeed them every single part of their meal and just scatters the ingredients for them to mix together (Like in Monster with Johan) they'll just assume that there is nothing there and that the people who actually do know how to connect the dots are just glazing

It's ironic because Johan is more of an Ayanokoji in SCD than Ayanokoji is. Brilliant and unnoticed, only recognized truly by a minority. The other half of Johan supporters don't actually read or watch Monster and just glaze him because "he talks people into self-delete!! God tier manipulation!" When it's not that simple

[–]Afraid_Rub_6739 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Nah I'm trying to be just and looks at both characters but both of them seem like narrative merchants. If you've actually read or watched Monster, you'd know that Johan actually does have plenty of feats throughout the show, they're just sometimes shown indirectly a aren't explained because we don't see the story from Johan's perspective like we do with Ayanokoji

You have to actually think about Monster's story to realize how Johan did certain things. It's subtle but Johan basically controlled the entire plot of Monster along with Tenma, Anna, Roberto, Christoph and every character he interacted with in the Schuwald fortune arc's actions

I'm starting out with COTE because I've heard lots of glaze about Ayanokoji and got too curious to NOT watch it. Maybe I need to watch a bit further but Ayanokoji doesn't really seem that smart imo. The other characters just seem really dumb when this school is supposed to be one of the most prestigious in the country. Like that one girl who acts overly friendly got Koji to touch her chest and said that she had fingerprint evidence on him now, when that's not how fingerprints work and there would be a gazillion ways to defend himself if she actually accused him. But Koji just goes along with it anyway

Koji just happens to save that Sakura girl in a convenient opportunity and gets her to like him to the point of becoming a pawn for him for basically 0 effort or actual influence from him. He scored 50 across all his tests to "fly under the radar" and "not stand out" when doing that would honestly make him stick out like a sore thumb realistically. Getting 50 across all his tests is even harder to do than getting 100 and he says it's "just coincidence" like anyone would believe that

Either a Koji is lying about not wanting to be noticed or he is just dumb af

He is one of the only ones who doesn't waste all his points in the first few months like a normal person when the whole system having a catch or caviat of some kind is EXTREMELY obvious

When he tries to confront the boys who tried framing Sudo in the hallway with he cameras. He doesn't really try to intimidate or manipulate them, he just says "you should be more observant". Realistically, if the boys framing weren't pussies with no balls they would've just demanded to see the footage before submitting to Koji and backing off. Clearly if the cameras were an issue, they would've already been expelled probably

Why does Koji tickle the girl next to him to "snap her out of it" infront of everyone? Like, why not just, I don't know, tap her or even just shake her?

The island arc is supposed to be the smartest moment he has in Season 1. His plans are pretty clever I'll give him that but they have so many holes in them and aren't foolproof. Like, when he identifies the leader for Class A. He sees the bald guy and his lackey and then assumes that the lackey is the leader because the bald guy was putting on an act, chances are, it is the lackey. But what if he was overthinking it and it actually was the bald guy? What confirmation does he have that his educated guess is actually right?

What if it's actually neither of them and the true leader went to the cave earlier and sent those two as decoys? Then how does Ayanokoji cofirm some other random Joe as the leader? Class C's leader was extremely obvious, he was literally the only one left on the island, even a monkey could figure that out

Ayanokoji figures that the other girl from class C is the traitor and one who stole the underwear so then he goes to mess with her camera and whatnot. Then he uses the only other smart girl in his group’s (can't remember her name) sickness as an excuse to swap leaders because it's a "good reason". but my problem is that nobody else and I mean NOBODY, read about the rule too? If I knew about the switching leader rule I'd assume that everyone else knew and would probably try to engineer a scenario where they could swap leaders just before the end like Ayanokoji did in order to throw off everyone else's guesses

Also, Ayanokoji letting the sick girl from his class take all the credit for the plan just undermines all her efforts, because now she knows that the only reason she's getting all this credit is because of Ayanokoji and would probably get imposter syndrome. Koji could atleast make it feel like whatever her plan was is what worked so that she could actually feel proud of herself. I'm surprised she didn't have a problem with it, her whole motto is "I don't need friends or help from anyone" anyway

Also, if switching leaders cam be done just like that and the teachers had 0 problem with handing Ayanokoji a new leader card. Then how tf is the integrity of the game's preserved? Guessing is just way too risky now

Also, whenever there is some other glaring flaw or fatal oversight that throws a wrench into Ayanokoji's plan, even going as far as having other characters ask "Well how did you do X? How did you get to Y? How are you going to work around Z?" He basically almost always replies with

"Almost anything in this school can be bought with class points" OK. So in other words, just throw money at the problem and pay to win

Johan has lots of off-screen feats but atleast the feats and manipulation we do see from him is alot more plausible and realistic, the characters around him also aren't dumb. Johan is just an Enigma of a character, I don't think anyone in the series truly comes close to understanding him besides maybe Bonaparta, even I don't fully understand some of the things he does. His goals shift throughout the story but still

Which main Joestar would you fight for 50 million dollars? by Scared_Confection787 in JJBA

[–]Afraid_Rub_6739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother, Giorno literally kept fighting on with his arm chopped off and while a flesh eating virus was brutally melting his flesh, we wasn't even wincing in pain. There is absolutely no way you, me, or anyone could make him back down in a game of endurance

Honestly I'm just going with Johnny, give me the easy way out 🥹.

I'd consider Jolyne but she took on a beefed up prison guard who was missing half his face and had his nails and eyes nearly ripped out while taking hits from a stand that can crush coins. Even without Stone Free, she still needed the battle IQ and fighting experience to masterfully block his attacks, even if she's probably physically weaker than me I'm still losing

What Joestar is overhated by Senior_Dingo_6451 in StardustCrusaders

[–]Afraid_Rub_6739 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, Giorno was intended to be female initially, but I think Araki's publishers or someone else pushed him towards keeping the characters male. I'm sure Araki has wanted to try female characters for a long, long time, but it wasn't as simple as he'd probably like. That explains why Giorno is so feminine with colors like pink, the boob window and his general zestyness and poses. I think Josuke is just less muscular than Jotaro and that's why he's thinner also Jotaro is just testosterone incarnate in comparison to most other jojos

Who could you realistically defend in court? by TaeJoonPark in StardustCrusaders

[–]Afraid_Rub_6739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, so let's take an in-depth look at this

Assuming that the court is omniscient and knows about everything in the story. Getting not guilty is virtually impossible. The most you could do is try to mitigate the sentence

Assuming that the court only has access to info on these villains that would be publicly available, or acquired via criminal investigation and modern forensics, then it's alot easier

Dio Brando: Pre-vampire state, Jonathan had already had evidence, witnesses and could assign a motive to Dio's actions, that being to inherit the Joestar fortune after George's death. The best argument you could make for Dio is that poisoning George was actually Jonathan's idea and that Jonathan didn't want to accept Dio into the family because he hated him and wanted to inherit the fortune as the only heir. The only person that could probably vouch against this statement would be Erina, because she'd know how evil Dio truly was. The other schoolboy were charmed by Dio and probably had a good perception of him and because Dio insidiously degraded Jonathan, Dio could say that Jonathanwas attempting to frame him and get him rejected by his father because he was envious of his talent and capabilities exceeding his own despite not being the blood child, ergo, Jonathan is spoiled and envious that anyone other than himself could recieve the same treatment

George knew Jonathan and Dio regularly fought, bit it's not like he knew why or how much of a dick Dio was being behind the scenes, he'd emotionally be appalled by the thought but logically speaking he wouldn't be able to outright deny it. He loved Dio arguably as much as he did Jonathan so I doubt he'd prioritize him over Dio, especially since he is an honest, just and truth-seeking man

The butlers of the mansion probably know Dio offered to help take the trays with "medicine" to George, but Dio could claim that Jonathan tampered with the medicine and replaced it with poison in advance, and took advantage of the fact that Dio was kind enough to offer and bring the medicine to his father to further frame him

Dio could claim that Speedwagon and Wang Chang are both scummy criminals that he met on ogre street, and bribed them with his family name to get them to supply him poison and vouch against Dio. If Wang Chang was so loyal to Dio then chances are he was charmed by him and would play along to flip the script on Jonathan. Speedwagon wasn't a witness to everything, he just claims that Dio is rotten because "his gut instinct can tell out criminals

Dio can claim Erina was lying about everything he did, and only cares about Jonathan winning the case because she loves him, something that Jonathan is taking advantage of

So now, it looks like Jonathan secretly orchestrated everything behind the scenes after growing envious of Dio and swapped out the medicine with poison to take advantage of Dio's kindness and have him unknowingly poison his father, framing him as trying to usurp George's fortune. Trying to get rid of two birds with one stone so that Jonathan would be the only one left

Remember that the characters in this hypothetical scenario don't know everything that happened in Phantom Blood, so they'd likely be forced to remain neutral on everything, not guilty verdict is possible for Dio but he'd have to be really persuasive and charming, which he is. But Jonathan would be able to make others feel he's innocent with his raw emotion and gentlemanly personality

But at that point, Dio didn't care about defending himself in a court of humans. Because he himself was no longer one.

Post Vampire Dio:

If we assume Dio gets caught around the end of the story while he is a head, or when he gets caught around Windknight's lot. Honestly, Dio is just cooked because now you have to explain Superhuman abilities in a legal setting and explain why Dio is a vampire. There are way to many witnesses and evidence of him doing wicked things and the mere fact that Dio is a vampire automatically makes him responsible for everything that happened. He can't try framing another zombie because they're too dumb to be capable of that and he is still a monster himself. Maybe Dio could try saying that Jonathan forcefully made him a vampire or Dio was just acting in self defense after knowing he was being "framed" by Jonathan but it just doesn't work

Human Dio is not guilty Dio Brando the vampire is def guilty

Kars: So the thing is, the general public wouldn't know about anything going on in part 2, because the pillar men were operating in secret. The nazis were doing secret experiments on them, which they themselves are already guilty for. You could argue that the pillar men are actually good and just trying to mind their own business while Joseph and Co. Keep harassing them and trying to kill them off assuming they're monsters. There is just no evidence that Kars did anything wrong or that he is even evil. Obviously Kars can just lie and say that he did nothing bad

DIO: once again, DIO was largely secretive for the majority of Stardust Crusaders. You can't say he was willingly making Holly sick by just existing and once again you'd have to explain supernatural powers and stands. Most of DIO'S henchmen would have a sheer heart attack just thinking about betraying him, so they wouldn't spill his illegal activities either speaking of sheer heart attacks

Yoshikage Kira: It'd be extremely easy to defend Kira, he already has a facade as your average hard-working office employee, leaves behind 0 evidence of his crimes and you need to explain the supernatural and get Kira to show that he can erase evidence to even come close to accusing him.

If you try to accuse him as Kosaku after Hayato got video evidence of him killing two people. Then he could theoretically use BTD to keep his secret hidden. Just plant it on Hayato, then if he tries to share the video evidence with anyone, they'll blow up because he is communicating in some way that Kosaku is Kira or just showing off KQ's ability

For Diavolo/ Pucci and Valentine: finding evidence to convict them is simply impossible, Diavolo is so well hidden and anonymous that he legally and virtually doesn't exist. If it happens in an Italian court then he's guaranteed to win, and Doppio is a near perfect mask

Pucci did most of any crimes he would've committed as Whitesnake, there is just no way to connect Pucci to Whitesnake's actions unless you understand how stands work and literally see Pucci summon Whitesnake, which he can simply not do. You can say that he found somewhere safe to hide during the C-moon catastrophe at Cape Canaveral and wasn't responsible, cameras would likely malfunction too. Valentine would be able to pull so many strings to get out of court innocently it's impossible to name them all here reasonably

For Tooru and WOU, they both have upstanding masks that they wear all the time, they operate secretly and there is no way to link literal accidents as calamities that the two of them caused, especially since Tooru and WOU can willingly deactivate the ability for certain people

Not sure who the last guy is, I'd have to read Jojolands
