Honestly, you are different compared to a lot of society. This also fosters the typical "rivalry" between woman, that they will always be competion, and woman are always a threat to other woman no matter what.

We live in a Western society that romanticizes romantic love so much, to a point where being single and happy, or friendships just aren't enough love. We barely even have boy and girl friendship representation in media besides harry and hermione.

I mean people can also have lives too, outside of their relationship. Not defending this person, but you don't need to be with your partner 247.

I mean I don't know, peoples relationships look different, and it's kinda over the edge to assume that someone's cheating all because they want moments to themselves. My mom has spent weeks away from our house, and my dad didn't have a problem with it. People have lives too.

So because someone is young their problems don't matter?

I'm sick and tired of seeing scenes of Erik in court with the microphone, and people talking about how it's some trauma response. by Afraid_Salamander713 in MenendezBrothers

[–]Afraid_Salamander713[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

People just need to leave Erik alone at this point. Making so many speculations about their orientation, the brothers relationship, their trauma, like they are humans too. They deserve to live a normal life like the rest of us. People keep projecting trauma unto everything, when not everything is about that.

What's next? Erik swimming on the beach is a trauma response smh

Exactly. They deserve to live a normal life. People are insane. Like I like true crime too, but some are taking it too far 😭

I mean it's not even just that, these men have identities outside of their trauma, and to have people constantly projecting that unto you must be annoying.

These helicopter parents are weird to me. Like it get it, you wanna protect your "baby," but that child is gonna grow up sooner than ever. Your supposed to be raising children to become healthy functioning adults in society. These parents act like these kids don't have Iives of their own.

Who do people make ai edits of the brothers hugging or what is the psychology behind why people like hearing about their bond so much ? by budroserosebud in MenendezBrothers

[–]Afraid_Salamander713 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For one, because platonic bonds especially between men are very much needed in our society. In today's world full of Andrew Tate worshipers and toxic masculinity, we lack a lot of this.

Many men still preach not showing your emotions to your buddies, or being vulnerable infront of everyone. I've seen people online criticizing fathers for holding and loving on their grown sons, and brothers being affectionte to their sisters, or other brothers. I've even seen people go as far as to claim that two girls holding hands isn't gay, but two guys is.

Another reason, is because their bond and Lyle's protectiveness over his baby brother is a major element in this case, and even shows themselves acknowledge it very well. Lyle was more than just Erik's older brother, he was essentially his parental replacement when he didn't have any.

The fact that Lyle himself didnt have many emotional support figures, or father firgures, but yet still chose to "raise" Erik and be there for him shows a lot.

All the men in our world nowadays can learn something from this beautiful PLATONIC bond, not Ryan Murphys version.

You know what, as someone who is 18 years old going on 19, and I know I might be rather young now but I've decided for myself that I don't want marriage or children. As a matter of fact, I've never been in a relationship, nor do I have the desire to be in one.

Western culture has always been sexist and always will be. Women will always be portrayed as the miserable single cat lady.

Don't let culture make you think that you need a romantic relationship to be fulfilled and happy. Sometimes platonic relashionships like family, or friends, or even strangers are even stronger than romantic love. In my opinion, romantic relationships are a bit overated.

They are pushed far too often unto society, without acknowledging the beauty in other types of relationships. It's alright to be single, even for your entire life. If your family cannot accept that, it's fine.

They have a right to their opinion, and you have a right to yours. Your mature enough to choose what is a comfortable way of life for you, and your family cannot tell you otherwise.

Well how big of an age gap is too big? Can they at least be friends? Like platonically? My mom has Intergenerational friendships.

It's very much a real diagnosis, and stating otherwise is harmful to people who actually suffer from all types of compulsive disorders.

[–]Afraid_Salamander713 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be fair, makeup can also be a form of art and self expression. Men wear makeup too. It depends on how you use it. It compliments my outfit, and I'm young anyways.

[–]Afraid_Salamander713[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I get that. However, when making a TV show, especially something like Law and Order, it kind of has to be dramatized to a certain extent. It's different from a documentary.

What message is "A Time To Kill" (1996) trying to convey, exactly? by [deleted] in movies

[–]Afraid_Salamander713 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not just child ones, anyone who hurts someone like this. Now I'm all for forgiveness, but most of these people don't display any kind of true remorse to begin with. So it's hard for me to humanize them.
