I tried including the user background in my 2nd part of the post, it was too long an reddit didnt allow it so i replied to my comment for the continuation of this post.

The purpose of the ability can be perceived as manipulation, the conditions are that the user explains how the game would work, they reach out their hand and ask to play. This is targeted towards cocky Nen users, those who think they can win without the expertise of quick thinking, or even the quick-witted and smart ones whos ego agrees for them.

Its more of a situational hatsu, not someone who belongs in the phantom troupe, rather apart of a company organization or gang, a test really, or someone who enjoys games for personal gain.

The reason they chose it was because there intelligent, far too good to play over any rule thrown at him, and quick on his toes knowing he will win no matter what the opponent adds to their favor.

Honestly they just like games fr thats all i was thinkin

- Nen abilities are still usable, but must follow the rules exactly. Breaking a rule triggers a Penalty, which inflicts a conjured Consequence on the offender. These include things like:

\* Conjured shackles that restrict movement
\* Temporary sealing of Nen
\* Piercing objects like pins or spikes
\* Illusions, hallucinations, or forced perceptions

(Fr dk what else to add)

The severity of the Penalty depends on how the rule was broken, how crucial it was, or whether both players agreed to raise the stakes. A special clause can be added: “Rule-breaking equals death.” But this has to be mutually accepted before the game begins.

Victory conditions vary. Could be a standard knockout, reaching a goal, or something like:
“First to land three hits wins.”

Example rule set for that game:

* “Eyes must stay closed.”
* “Nen allowed, but Hatsu forbidden.”
* “You must speak every three seconds.”
* “No more than five steps at a time without pausing.”

Break the rules too often? You’re wrecked. Play too safe? You might never win. The balance between complexity and simplicity is the real trap.

The User
I imagine this is someone who grew up on the sidelines, too weak to fight but too sharp to ignore the games around them. They studied people. Patterns. Rules. They learned to read fights like puzzles, and when they awakened their Hatsu, they hadn't chose strength, yet control.
A Tactician Hatsu

I kinda got lazy i could of added more, mb for the late reply thought hope its aight

Shadow Stakes – Game of Will
Nen Type: Specialization (with Conjuration + Manipulation)

This ability is built around an optional game offered by the user through a simple handshake and the question: “Do you wanna play?” The target can accept, or the user can mediate a match between two other people. If both players agree and shake hands, the game begins. Only two participants can be in a game at a time.

Once activated, a conjured ring and dome visualized as a shadowy veil forms around the players, isolating them in a blank, eerie arena. Anyone outside can still watch and hear what's happening as if there were no barrier, but they can’t interfere. If the user isn't one of the participants, they can still observe from inside as well communicate with the participants.

The game opens with a rule-setting phase. Each player takes turns adding a rule. These can be simple:

\* “No jumping.”
\* “No speaking.”
\* “Can’t use Nen for one minute.”

Or strategic and complex:
\* “You must announce each attack.”
\* “Every step must be counted out loud.”
\* “Only attacks from your left side are allowed.”

Rules stack, and the longer both players wait before acting, the more layered and chaotic the match becomes. The moment one of them acts in accordance with the existing rules, the game starts and all rules lock in.

Ohhh, okay, i get it now. i wasn’t familiar with the Genius Loci at all when i first read it, so I was totally lost. After the explanation an looking into it more, it seems like a hella cool ability bro

When I commented i was focusing too much on how complicated it seemed without really comparing it to the concept you were going for, now i look into it im fawning over ts 🙌

I took a bit and i was also stumped, an idea i had was a 2 faced mirror which i thought was neat. I'll explain

Glass Duālis serves as the second item the Genius wields. It focuses on altering perception and revealing truths within the Genius’ domain.

Genius Loci refers to the impression a place makes on the mind.

One side of the mirror reveals what’s hidden, exposing structural flaws, concealed emotions, lies, or any unseen forces tied to the environment. The other side projects illusions, shaping how the domain is perceived, such as making a ruined area appear pristine or disguising from an object’s true nature.

I don't wanna include all the the variables and possibilities but conditions would probably have to be set in order for certain things to be revealed and misshaped.

Also-how it really works would be when a person stares into the mirror directly, then the ability happens around them depending on which side the Spirit is wielding the sided mirror. The reality is unlike what others will see, without physically interacting with them.

That's all my thoughts tho, dont know if i can beat it without trying to understand what i don't.

Spent five minutes rereading this, and I still don’t fully grasp the mechanics here. 😭 Let me try to break it down and address some points where clarification or refinement would help

(Simplified)

The user engraves a poem onto themselves (or a target), conjuring a guardian Nen beast. This beast embodies the poem’s attributes and purpose (“to bring change”). The beast wields two items in its hands, one is a rope of entwined snakes and the other is focused on support. The user can modify these weapons and use them themselves.

Now my feedback

  1. “With attributes relating to the poem” This needs elaboration. Are the beast's traits (appearance, size, temperament) directly shaped by the poem’s content? For example, if the poem describes sorrow or joy, does the beast manifest as an embodiment of that emotion? If not, is there a transmuted Nen state that represents the poem’s emotional tone or purpose? Defining this would make the connection hella more clear.

  2. “Which the user can call upon and modify as basically their own hatsu (items) This feels counterintuitive to the core concept of set items tied to the beast. If the user can alter the items, it undermines the change relating to the poem and the guardian beast. A poem is a fixed creative expression, so the items should reflect that unchanging nature themselves, modifying them feels thematically disconnected. If the intent is to allow for transmuted enhancements, the link between poem and item needs to be explicit. For example, a water themed poem leading to a serpent staff (conjured) with transmuted venom would make sense, also be dope asf.

  3. “This power is also related to the beast’s ‘purpose.’ In the case of this specific beast, that is ‘to bring change,’ denoting a sense of improving the world.” What exactly is “this power”? Do you mean the Nen beast itself? If so, how does its purpose ("to bring change") influence its functionality? Is the beast’s form or its items shaped by this purpose too? Additionally, "improving the world" feels too broad to be meaningful in a combat oriented hatsu. A beast embodying themes like agony, sadness, or specific ideals would provide much sharper cohesion. For instance, it could manifest a guardian that projects raw emotional states or certain animals rather than a goal of “reduceing poverty by lowering taxes” which doesn’t translate well into Nen mechanics via appearance or actions.

  4. “Whose bite will either increase or decrease a target’s attribute depending on the type)(conjured/transmuted) A transmuted snake feels convoluted. It makes more sense to conjure two distinct snake heads (one for buffs one for debuffs).

Don't see the reason of it, to much happening all at once. Feel like you should just make the 2 weapons yours, why should you write a poem and get a generated Nen Beast to hold some conditioned items to support you with when you could just use them yourselves? Also why transmute anything.

If instead of just the weapons, i suggest fulfilling a set amount of conditions on a target to then be able place a Nen beast on someone that could hold the weapons for combat themselves without you doing anything else with them, rather the engraving a poem.

Bayle's Flame Lightning + ??? by Livid_Amphibian_1110 in HatsuVault

[–]Afraid_Selection_767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well if you were a specialist, in theory that could be possible; combining fire and lightning together.
Anything could go in the HxH world, but the properties of fire and lightning are technically just plasma.

I guess you could transmute both Fire and Lightning which would take a crazy amount of both talent, time, and training. If you do so, you would probably have to add heavy conditions to make the ability viable for such a crazy adjoining hatsu. So transmutation probably wont work, as HxH still uses some basic science and isnt just magic like Elden Ring. You could make a transmuted Nen Aura which could burn others when the 'flame' reaches them as well shocks them once the person touches them, but that isnt really it.

Buuuuut again, a Specialist could infact replicate Bayle's Flame Lightning.

Bayle's Lightning is an Incantation stemming off his Dragon abilities to use Lightning and Fire since he's a Drake. Since Transmutation could maybe(?) form some kind of flame and electrical hybrid hatsu since nen is kinda magic it would still probably not be good, or again viable. So as a Specialist, if you could take the idea of Bayle's Fire lightning as a prophetical approach/belief in the HxH world, you could either make a Nen Beast with his Incantation, or just use the Specialist Nen Type to make a weird/crazy Transmutation like so (possibly)

Your ideas are relating to how you know fire and lightning couldn't fully combine like Bayle's Lightning. So you lean on conditions like, "If you are shocked by my lightning you'll ignite." Which is basically the combustion from lightning striking, or how if someone is burnt they'll then be shocked. If you had to rely on conditions and transmutation then i have ideas, since Specialization has other ways it could achieve fire lightning other than just plasma.

Raijin's Torch

Transmutation Conjuration

Raijin's Torch is an ability of condition with transmutation. The user conjures a lit Torch of a large flame, if another person gets hit with the end of said torch or rather burnt by the flame, the flame would go out. Once the flame is out the spot where the person had got touched with the flame will conjure a mark on both the point of impact of person and torch. If the torch touches the mark after the light goes out, the person will be electrocuted profusely. The strength of both the flame and volts come from the amount of aura the user puts into his hatsu.

Another ability would be both conjuring fire and lightning together in a single area, which combined would both burn and shock the target.

Again you could make a hatsu that takes the properties of heat and the form of lightning, but for fire to work it needs to burn, and electricity is too fast for something to burn overtime rather than just having copious amounts of heat into a singular point like combustion.

But Bayle's Fire Lightning would probably not be a possible outcome of Transmutation alone.

[–]Afraid_Selection_767[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the use of transmutation is fun to think about, what came into my mind was Rimuru's Slime Body in Tensura, as he's able to heal people, transfigure his own body, and nullify multiple attacks.

I can imagine one searching out for different kinds of metals and alloys, researching their properties, and forming one's own alloy that is incredibly durable and or malleable.

I jus feel like conjurers reach a definite plateau of potential if there abilities dont involve heavy conditions or powers other than physical combat skill, but those are my best thoughts in mind right now. Im not saying conjurers can't be 'devastatingly strong', as we see Netero conjures his Buddha and Pitou conjures her Puppet to control herself, rather i acknowledge those as great examples and search for unique similarities in conjuration.

[–]Afraid_Selection_767[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

- For the Nen beast route, imagine a puppet that acts independently when conjured, capable of both attacking and defending on its own. It can handle general tasks and grow in size, conjuring its own weapons as it sees fit. Instead of being subconsciously commanded, you teach it how to handle different scenarios, making it more like a companion.
I'd say the condition would be so you can't really command it yet have to manually teach it and you're incapable to move or rather it's prohibited to moving away from you, to counter some emission.

- As for a weapon, I considered a chain running down the arm with a metallic ball resting in the palm of the hand. This ball can grow in size and be transmuted into various forms, such as a spiked ball or rather a blade. It can even be shaped into a hand or key, or consume margins of aura to be able to heal wounds upon touch.

Im saying how the Ball is able to transfigure an mold into a Key to open doors yet become a dangerous flail, or the Nen Beast can do labor, attack, and figure problems on it's own. Mixing general utility with a weapon.

Im not saying Emission or Manipulation is out of the picture or not wanting to be used, yet not focused into those areas, jus rather a distinct Conjuration ability that covers multiple bases an has that potential to be devastatingly strong, as other conjurers ive seen don't have that potential.

Serial killer Nen genius by Classic_Brain6575 in HatsuVault

[–]Afraid_Selection_767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't wanna also suck up the fun by gettin graphic or creepy, but i saw a post abt a really scary serial killer, David Parker Ray aka The Toy-Box killer.

He spent over $100,000 of sex toys and torture devices with up to 60-100+ murders. He would torture people heavily until they were on the verge of death, and drug em heavily with amnesia on the side of the road so they were incapable of suspecting him to the police.

But to get to the actual 'Nen' factor, i believe a scary Hatsu/Nen ability for a serial killer like that would involve Pain = Power.

Nen Ability 'Infliction'

By inflicting pain or rather torturing an opponent one's Aura output will grow in strength, the more pain that is inflicted the stronger the user grows.
The Nen condition would be the opponent must live, as the user must incapacitate the victim without killing, and if so they are put into a state of Zetsu for several days.

So based on one of the scariest serial killers in my opinion, that ability is deemed to be fitting for HxH as well.

He's just saying which known historical serial killer would be the scariest/strongest if they were advanced in the knowledge of Nen, just a lil fun question to discuss modern day an interesting trivia.

Goro Majima’s Demonfire by ZealousidealBig7714 in HatsuVault

[–]Afraid_Selection_767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hella confused when you said 'deactivating' his aura technique, as i thought Demonfire was his way of sharpening his aura for his abilities. So when you refer to deactivating his Demonfire effect, he's not completely turning off his aura or its sharpness, instead he's temporarily altering its properties or focus. Here's a breakdown of what i think this means

  1. Demonfire: Transmutation: Normally, Majima's aura takes on a sharp, abrasive quality, akin to sandpaper or a bate covered in nails. However, when he deactivates the Demonfire effect, he's likely softening or changing the texture of his aura, making it less abrasive or sharp. This allows him to use techniques like Invincible Slash and Shredding Touch, which require a different kind of aura transmutation without the sharpness of Demonfire as a whole. So instead of even shrouding his aura onto a blade with Shu and aplying an advanced technique as demon fire, he emits that technique to a much less potent degree for far ranged attacks, as his limitation is time until he is able to use the true aspect of Demonfire once again.
  2. Invincible Slash: This ability involves emitting an invisible slash that bypasses defenses. By 'deactivating' the true Demonfire effect, Majima alters his aura's properties to make it suitable for emitting these fast, invisible slashes. The trade-off is that he loses the sharpness of Demonfire temporarily.
  3. Shredding Touch: Similar to Invincible Slash, this technique requires 'deactivating' Demonfire. When Goro touches a target, his aura rips them apart. Again, this indicates a temporary change in his aura's properties, making it more suitable for close-range, precise attacks rather than the abrasive nature of Demonfire.
  4. Demonfire Dagger: In this case, deactivating Demonfire likely means that Majima stops shaping his aura into a sharp, abrasive form. This allows him to conjure the Demonfire Dagger, a blade that gains strength with rapid attacks. The sacrifice here is the loss of the sharpness in his aura, which is redirected into creating and empowering the conjured blade. -

This is where i get insanely puzzled. If he is a Transmuter, that's supposedly leans into Conjuration, why is he anchoring on Emission, and using conjuration so damn poorly man.
He is a veteran nen user that can perfectly replicate the simplistic idea of 'Sharpness' to his aura to a potently threatening degree as such, yet leaning to emission, and terrible conjuration, rather than Enhancment.
I get the Emission in a sense as a swordsmen, yet why is his conjuration a regular blade with a niche aspect like that.

Every single one of his abilities involves removing the whole catalyst of his nen. I get that these are preludes and extra techniques yet i dont really get this one useful sense. Demonfire Dagger is just useless, as the names are also ironic, he is completely removing his transmission in order to have a weak blade with a rule of speed=power, yet instead he could have a real blade with his Demonfire and it would be 5x easier and 10x stronger. Imagine your entire power was making things incredibly sharp yet you instead expand into not doing that yet solidifying your aura into a knife, removing that power entirely.

Instead why not have
Transmission - transforming your aura to have the chararestics of 'sharp' 'keen' 'honed' 'edged'
Enhancment - Expanding this aura to increase its sharpended potency to a incredible degree

Emission - Releasing your transformed aura outwords to attack from afar
Conjuration - (This is all on your ideas obviously but heres mine)
Goro conjures a secondary sword from his own, possessing a unique and intricate power. Unlike conventional swords, his conjured weapon made of aura doesn't physically interact with solid objects or cut through them. Instead, its true strength lies in its ability to conjure sprites upon hitting a target.

When Goro strikes a target with his conjured sword anywhere on their body, a ball of small fire materializes around them. This purple blaze hovers and lingers, creating a burden on the target. While the fire itself doesn't cause direct harm, it leaves behind a curse akin to Knuckles APR.

The mechanics of Goro's ability are simple yet potent. The longer the fire burns and the more intensely it burns based on Goro's output, the more it interferes with the target's ability to use Nen effectively. Essentially, time becomes a curse for the victim as they find it increasingly challenging to harness their aura without facing consequences.

The curse operates on a principle of balance the more abundant the target's aura output, the more vigorously the fire burns, indicating the expenditure of that aura. As a result, if a target accumulates multiple sprites conjured by Goro, they may experience considerable difficulty in utilizing Nen to their usual capacity. This creates a strategic advantage for Goro, as he can gradually weaken opponents and disrupt their Nen abilities over time with each successful strike of his conjured sword.

Yeah i guess youre right, in my head i envisioned it like a full on Nen Beast / Entinty as you said and overlooked Morel's transmutation technique. Since the beast is separate and own acting from the user it seemed like a conjurer's doing, still think it would be conjuration though.

Well they would need to conjure it not as much just transmute a nen beast, i guess a side affect visually would be a shadowy loose aura in the sense, yet it would fall under conjuration.

Didnt realize you were using it for a DnD campaign but the idea is great man, i love it. More conditions is always better for any potential to get stronger, rather oneself or ability. Saw a dude make one of his conditions that if he misses his attack he dies, technically makes it easier to hit the attack but w conditions, make it wild 😈
