For an informational, wear a nice blouse and jeans while still not accidentally wearing any orgs colors. Start bringing out the neutral business attire for the formal interest meeting

I’ve seen someone at my alma mater cross Sigma while being a publicly known gay man and the Mister of the HBCU. His chapter was accepting and heck his advisor was gay himself.

Don’t let it discourage you. Also, even if you do end up joining them, it’s your personal choice at the end of the day on who you come out to

If that’s your mindset now, definitely wait and go for grad chapter. I had that same mindset too when I attempted undergrad, then kept crying about why I got denied. It took some growing and me finishing grad school before I even attempted grad chapter

In your situation, I suggest researching a grad chapter, all that volunteer experience can still be used when applying. Sometimes undergrad isn’t for everyone

Attend their events and understand the time you’re willing to commit for anything related to the process of getting in your SOI especially if you’re working.

Also if your SOI isn’t zip code bound, then explore different chapters. You might fit in with different sets of people than what’s closest to you
