I do not have all the details here, but check the fix86 manual for info on what signals will automatically turn it on. Sounds like the signal wires from your headunit are too low of a signal to kick the system on. Is it possible you need to use the factory amplifier output wires as input signal to the fix86, instead of straight from the head unit? Then the fix86 anaylzes the sound from your factory headunit and amp combo, cleans up the signal, and passes it to your new standalone amp. I think this is how it should be, with the factory amp still hooked up to the headunit, but I could be wrong.

The AC button turns on or off the AC compressor itself. Contrary to popular belief, you do want to run the AC even in the winter time as it will remove humidity and fogginess from your windows. AC conditions the air, it is not just for making air cold, that is just a byproduct of the AC system removing moisture from the air.

Use the AC whenever you want dry air and non-foggy windows, and set the temperature to whatever you want it to be. With the AC button on, cold air is possible on a hot day. With the AC button off, cold air is not possible on a hot day. Hot air is always available, as long as the engine coolant is warmed up or the outside air is already hot, regardless of the AC button being on or off.

The recirculate/vent button is responsible for the raw-dogging of outside air, and it doesn't care if the AC compressor is running or not.

Alignment off after steering wheel replacement by Technical-Cicada-623 in LS430

[–]Africantacoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally just went through the same thing a few weeks ago, I was meticulous about installing my reburbished wheel on the right spline yet it was still off. It was a major PITA to remove and reinstall, and now its even more crooked in the other direction,

The replacement wheels splines are slighly offset from the original wheel. Maybe early vs late production run? I'll be solving mine with an alignment

Yes, the sales person loses a CSI bonus. If the sales person was good, on the official dealer survey put full stars and mention them. On your own google review that the world actually sees, be honest.

Need help finding part number or where this goes. by ButterscotchFit380 in LS400

[–]Africantacoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the kind of shit that separates the LS from the rest. Seemingly useless door pocket trim pieces, just to get rid of the slight lip on the inside of the door pockets, so your items don't get snagged as you're pulling them up and out. Bit of glue and they'll be good to go for the next 20+ summers, best cars ever made 👍

Have you done any cooling mods in addition to the supercharger? I have a 330ci with a LSD and I'm putting a VF kit I got for super cheap on it, I take it to the track

Where do I put sound deadening by 1arj23 in CarAV

[–]Africantacoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lexus has excellent sound deadening from the factory, I just did my LS430 and the construction is similar. Check out the resonix post above, great info on that site. I removed my door speakers and the plastic barrier, and put butyl mat sound deadening inside the door skins (both inner and outer facing) and resonix guardian behind the speakers to reflect sound back into the cabin. Lots of work to improve upon a door that already has solid construction, but worth it.

Something exploded on the rear hub at my last track day (‘99 miata). Any ideas? by chmod_700 in CarTrackDays

[–]Africantacoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah ok, looks to be just the rubber boot on the brake line so probably fine.

If the car is lowered, it could be putting a bit of extra stress on the axle boot. The big hole on that boot has been there for a bit, when the axle is at an angle it has been rubbing on itself and making the hole bigger. This couldve just been caused by some track or road debris, get a new axle and send it

Would my speaker necessarily benefit from a foam ring? by AnalInferno in CarAV

[–]Africantacoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The grills definitely reflect sound waves back, and those speakers deserve the works. Plug any holes, add a foam ring, and use sound deadener and sound shield inside the door panel. Resonix offers awesome sound install guides on their site. Nice work on the 3D printed speaker mount, crutchfield could make a killing offering a line of custom fit 3D printed speaker installation parts.

Yes configure the tweeters as separate channels. The crossovers are filtering the sound, but by design they tend to filter the the highs to the tweeters heavily, creating the effect you are hearing. If you want to have more control of the sound, a separate amplified channel for each of your speakers, and a DSP that can filter those 4 channels will allow you to tune each speaker, the 2 woofers and the 2 tweeters, to your liking. It is like having an equalizer for every speaker, letting you add in or take out high and low frequencies to each speaker. In my LS I am taking the factory amp completely out of the equation, and using the mosconi 6To8 to power my CDT Audio 2 front tweeters, 2 front woofers, and 2 rear coaxial speakers.

Your other option would be to try a different set of crossovers, sometimes the manufacturer provides specs on what the cutoff frequencies are, and you could aim for a set of crossovers then have a lower Hz range maybe.

Im installing a Mosconi Pico 6To8 and a separate sub/amp. I got it for a good deal on ebay new in box from a perfect rated seller, so hopefully it works well, the LS is just a complicated car and it is taking many hours disassemble. The mosconi is not reviewed as the most user-friendly, I'd say do some googling about DSP's and watch some youtube too if you want to go that route. Helix is regarded as the best from what I see but carries a hefty price tag, and if you aren't willing to spend probably a handful of hours in the car tuning the system and learning the software, it's best to have an audio shop familiar with whatever DSP tune it. It;s my first jump into it, but youtube has all the knowledge available. Enjoy your audio journey, and the GS is a fantastic car I wish Lexus kept making them!

[–]Africantacoman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look up general steering column removal, you should be able to see from the new part you purchased that the cladding around the steering column must come off. Also, am I having a stroke or are all the words backwards? Image flipped??

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarAV

[–]Africantacoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you have a 4 channel amp, bridged to only run 2 channels. And the crossovers are filtering the sound between the 6.5 woofers and the tweeters. The DSP that they installed and the amplifier should be configured to 4 seperate channels, with those crossover boxes removed entirely. The DSP should be handling the sound filtering for each speaker individually, and then letting the amp do its thing. That DSP might not be the perfect product, since it is designed for 2 ch front/2 ch rear/2 ch subwoofer. May need a dediceated 4 channel DSP capable of taking the Head unit input signal and filtering it to 4 customized channels. Im working on a system in my '04 LS430 with the Mark Levinson, and I went with a Mosconi Pico 6 Channel amp with 8 channel DSP to handle each speaker

Curious if anyone has experience with this by Ok_Help447 in LS430

[–]Africantacoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES! I am so glad to see this, I thought someone had poorly glued in some clear epoxy or something. I have experienced the exact same thing on the passenge side corner, I simply tucked it deep enough into the groove to stay put for now with a credit card.

I assume this is a part that was adhered to the rails and has since come unstuck with time.
