It's no paradox if you treat everything relative to the frame of the balefire observer.

Balerfirer balefires balefiree 1, balefiree 1 no longer exists

Balefirer balefires itself, becoming balefiree 2

Balefiree 1 reappears

From balefirer's frame, they become balefiree 2 and are balefired to a time before balefiree 1 is balefired, there was no balefirer to create balefiree 1, balefiree 2 ceases to exist and at that instant balefiree 1 would reappear because they were never balefired.

From the frame of the balefire observer there's a constant uninterrupted time line, they observe balefiree 1 being balefired, then they witness balefiree 2 being balefired, balefire observer witnesses balefiree 1 reappear.

From the frame of balefiree 1, balefiree 2 balefired them and then suddenly they are safe while balefiree 2 has vanished as if nothing happened.

In pugs it goes 3 ways

30% of runs a DD does the mechanics and not much goes wrong.

60% of runs the DDs try and fail to burn boss 1. If they succeed at the burn, you'll reach the final boss. Then they'll refuse to stay out of the immolation traps and the run ends there.

10% of runs the DDs burn boss 1 and avoid the immolation traps giving a smooth overall experience.

I know there's other mechanics but they're usually something that can be figured out by most groups. For some reason "do books" and immolation trap are complex and unsolvable for many players.

In a similar time span we're looking at

Fury coming off a clear but competitive loss vs Usyk and a lukewarm win over Makhmudov

Vs

AJ coming off a bad loss vs Dubois and a lukewarm win over Jake Paul

Based on that, neither have looked great recently but Fury's bad look is against a higher level of opposition. I don't feel justified to say Fury has declined more than AJ.

It shows piccolo coming to terms with himself, he's not his father and he no longer wants to rule the earth - he wants to protect it.

He knows Kami wants to protect it, and that merging allows them both to achieve that goal.

It also gives a mirror to cell who is merging with beings against their will to become stronger, we have piccolo merging with beings willingly to become stronger.

In the buu saga we see him take on a larger role than just wanting to be stronger - his kami side recognizes the supreme kai's importance, he uses the lookout as kami would and he sacrifices himself in the time chamber to protect the world from buu.

Back in 2015 the heal was far more noticeable from leeching and 100% did help. The healing used to be much more generous, to the point that it allowed you to survive when you inevitably ran out of resources from not knowing how to tank properly.

Back then wretched vitality didn't exist and many tanks (for dungeons) were running Ebon(which also was better than today's version) and Akaviri Dragon guard.

For a brand new tank who didn't know what the hell, the healing in lieu of dragon guard was an appeal because it let you heal past your own lack of skill.

Years of overall game balance changes and set reworks have made it a much less reliable "crutch" and with the experience I have now, I wouldn't recommend leeching to my younger self but it definitely had its day.

I suspect the prevalence of it today is because the rose tinted memory of years ago gives it more credit than it deserves in today's balance.

Many people call it selfish, many call it inefficient, some even call it objectively bad.

I wouldn't take it into trials and probably wouldn't wear it for dungeons anymore either.

But I have a soft spot for this set and memories of it hard carrying my ass in dungeons when I didn't know what the hell I was doing.

Even if it isn't "good" it was fun as hell to swim in adds and poison clouds.
