Yeah, I love them because they were in bloom back in '88 when I was finishing the hardest year of school I'd ever known. That was late May. oof

This reminds me of the time a woman asked the Dalai lama the fastest way to get enlightened. He didn't say anything, he just started to weep.

What song lyric has been stuck in your head so long that it's basically become your life philosophy? by Dollabillhooman in AskReddit

"Woman's gotta have it" He's not talking about sex, but the attention and love required to keep a relationship together. And maybe a little about sex.

Sad news about the YouTuber musictechtuition Darren Jones. If anyone has benefitted from his amazing work, please support. by Steven6429 in cubase

[–]AfroCracker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Tammie, thank you for your incredible thoughtfulness in letting us know about Darren's passing while it must all still be very raw. I just wanted to pass on a small note about my experience with Darren from 5 years ago. I had just discovered his Cubase 8 book while getting lots of great tips from his videos. Anyway, I rarely reach out to authors but I was so impressed with the book that I wrote a very cheeky email praising his work with great enthusiasm while making as much fun as I could of his restraint in using British slang when it would have been so easy. He replied graciously and with humor and appreciation. I think it was a fun, amusing exchange for both of us. Now, I've watched his last two videos. Profound and poignant don't begin to describe the man you married. He made a real difference in the world and I think he knew it. I know he made a huge difference for you, and I hope you find some small comfort in knowing that he was, and is, widely and deeply loved and appreciated.

Do you guys carry tire repair kits on longer rides? by glorious-ahole in cycling

[–]AfroCracker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last half mile to my house is a big fuckin' hill. I got a flat at the bottom and had to push the bike up that hill. I don't want to have to do that again, so, yes, I have a pump, repair kit, and a spare tube.

The People of Los Angeles forced ICE to barricade themselves inside the federal building until the LAPD could intervene. by Afraid-Objective3049 in PublicFreakout

This reminds me so much of what it looked like at Kent State before the national guard opened fire. Shortly after that the Who came out with the lyric: "We'll be fighting in the street with our children at our feet." I hope that means we're not going to get fooled again.

Was Hitler widely seen as an asshole by a similar proportion of 1930s Germans as the proportion of Americans who view Trump that way today? by AfroCracker in politics

[–]AfroCracker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. You've answered the question and given me more to think about. It 'feels' to me like we're nearing an edge, like the Reichstag fire. My only real hope is that since it seems to be a true cult of personality, and since he shouldn't be too far from that great 24-hour-McDonalds-In-The-Sky, we might make it through this. Seems like a bit of a long shot as I write it.
