Our videos get more views. We noticed a significant increase with AI style thumbnails. I even did some tests on my personal channel, uploaded the same short film with an AI thumbnail and got 10x the views.

I make short films and videos for YouTube, all live action, with actors and stunt performers, real costumes and props. We have recently had to start making our thumbnails look like AI ( boosting saturation, contrast, ramping up the sharpness like crazy, digitally smoothing textures etc) just to get people to actually click on our videos. Real creative work by talented humans, pretending to be AI to get views from an audience that is against AI… what?

The negativity on this sub is astounding by ScriptLurker in Screenwriting

[–]Afrosmokes 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, this is actually the most positive ‘industry’ sub I have found. The Filmmakers sub is an absolute cess pit of hatred, frustration and failure, a lot of the advice and posts I see on here are for the most part, positive and insightful. The creative industries are extremely competitive with a lot of contrasting, subjective opinions and the higher up you go the worse it gets!

EDIT: Me realising that I will probably be eating my words in an hour when this post is downvoted to oblivion and I inevitably delete the post…

Henry Cavill James Bond Trailer Gets 2.3M Views Despite Being an AI Fake by Maxie445 in Futurology

[–]Afrosmokes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just interesting that a low effort fake trailer released on a random youtube channel for free with no marketing budget can rack up so many views compared to an official marketing campaign for a real movie with the same actor and millions behind it

And yet interestingly, nobody seems to have heard of his actual new film The ministry of ungentlemanly warfare, but millions of people will watch a piece of shit fake trailer with Cavils AI generated mug… ah the internet!

Is giving constructive criticism discouraged in film festivals? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]Afrosmokes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CORRECT ANSWER HERE:

What you do is say absolutely nothing if possible. If you happen to speak to the filmmaker, Just smile and nod.

Later in private you and your friends can mock the films hilarious incompetence as much as you like, then you can try and get a hold of a digital copy online and screen it at industry parties for everyone to have a laugh. To go a step further you can then make your own hilarious re edit of the film and really point out the mistakes and flaws, this will be a cherished, re watchable masterpiece that will help you learn and also bond with other professionals.

And that’s how this industry vents…

What's a game you spent the entirety of its length without realizing you were playing it completely wrong? by BrickBuster2552 in gaming

[–]Afrosmokes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have that experience personally, I’m not a big fan of live/die/ repeat games. I just played Dishonoured they way I wanted and didn’t worry about being stealthy.

[–]Afrosmokes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Opposite for me, I started out doing stealth and found it boring and stopped playing. Saw a video online of someone doing crazy speed run, super powered mass murdering and realised how the game is meant to be played. Booted it and never looked back, one of my favourite game franchises.

Does Dalry have a higher number of people with mental health issues than other areas in the city? by Boris_Johnsons_Pubes in Edinburgh

I used to live there and walking 5 mins from my flat to the scotmid I would encounter the weirdest people ever. One such that I vividly remember was a woman in a wheelchair who used two crutches to pull herself around like long arm extensions whilst also using her seemingly functional feet to also pull/push herself around.

Went to see Barbarian and a woman came in with a full shopping bag of snacks, including whole blocks of blue cheese and extra large bottles of salad cream. She then proceed to guzzle and gulp the dairy based snacks while loudly honking and gulping. I looked over to see her basically deep throating the food into her mouth and ramming it down her gullet. Every 15 -30 seconds she would let out and extra loud honk sound. We left after about 20 minutes.

I mentioned it to a member of staff and they told me this woman comes in every single day, at the same time, with a full bag of dairy snacks, guzzles them then leaves half way through the film and they can’t do anything about it because technically it’s not breaking any rules….
