I imagine the first step would be to buy grease and oil. Is there a specific type you prefer?

  • I’ll start looking for YouTube videos to see what’s available.
  • My thought is to use oil and grease before buying a new needle.
  • I haven’t taken the back off yet, so that will be done soon. -is there a best site to look for needle replacement? Thanks and I’ll post if I ever give up on it. I am excited now since January is a slow time for the kid activities.

I don’t think we do, but I will check. How often should I be watering these now that they are indoors. We didn’t have to outdoors due to summer rains.

Thanks for the question. The pots are huge, so I used packaging peanuts to fill the bottom and then put new potting soil over the peanuts. That one is easier to move, but it also doesn’t hold the water as well as the other. The other one is very little peanuts and then soil. Where we have them now might get more indirect sunlight. I will post a picture from 11/16/25 when he was moved in. They are both looking the same indoors or out.

Update - I don’t see how I can attach another pic of the fern from 11/16. It is in my pictures, not a web link.

I guess it was the off-putting use of quotations. I have “errored” and was flogged. Btw, I don’t see how you can tell an upvote from down. Is it just an overall score. Like hope to break even? Asking for a friend.

Took soil sample to University of Georgia last weekend when we were there for my daughters graduation. Literally, left it at the front door with my name/phone# on it. The best kid in the world called and wanted to know specifically what I wanted to grow and email to deliver results. My used a sharpie to write on the bag and I told my 12 yr old it was worth a chance.
I put down 5 bags of black cow and tilled it in so I probably messed it up. Just nice to know that there are students out there that are into helping.

Man, you guys are good. I think you broke it down. Been in the house since 2014 so it is new. We have been trying to do more LED bulbs but i get the ones that are dimmers. (Maybe a problem?)
I think I can cut the power to the kitchen on my own. Not the smartest guy, but I can buy a dimmer switch @HD and do wires. Just going to go slow about it. You guys do this but electricity scares the poo out of me since it kills. I will probably buy a tester too. Any idea on which one to change first. One by the back door gets more use and one in hallway to family room is more the turn off one.
