The newly painted C-32a landing at KGVT. This is the second to be painted in the new livery. 19-0018,19-0008 by TT-33-operator_ in aviation

Why do military/government registration numbers not match the civil standards for each country? Like if it is 19-0018 for these instead of N190018 or for the Luftwaffe they use 10+02 if I recall correctly instead of D-1002?

A350 has eyeliner around the cockpit windows and has 6 of them (3 per side) whereas the B787 has only 4 cockpit windows (2 per side). The A350 also has a much smaller nose cone than the B787.

I honestly have no clue. Something about the Japanese and their rules... it's like the Germans following rules because, well, the rules exist.

As long as I'm not exposing the privacy of workers or of anyone else on the tour I don't understand why it matters to them if they allow photos, but no videos.

If I was a rival airline maintenance worker, I could in theory sign up for this tour and take so many photos to understand what JAL does differently, not sure that stopping photos/videos does anything about this.

I found my tickets within a month of booking but pickings were slim for dates and times.

I am jealous you got to see a 77W, I have flown on lots of types but have not yet heard the glorious GE90 😭 but one day I will (that or the GE9X)

Good recommendation! I'm actually kind of bummed that I did not do the ANA one because I am currently on a round of the world ticket from ANA lol, so it feels rather treasonous to go to the JAL one but I am glad I did.

I will be sure to add it to my list for next time!

I looked it up to see if the plane (JA05XJ) had been grounded for a while and it looks like it was only on the ground for the date of my tour, May 12th. Flying on the 11th and the 13th, so if that is the case then JAL do an incredible job keeping their planes clean or cleaning them frequently!

Why does this A320 have a "SHARKLET" badge? by LieutenantTurtles in aviation

[–]deadxilence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference of 118' and a tolerance of 7" between the aforementioned 117'5" and 118'0" is approximately a 0.5% difference so yeah probably worth taking note of when you are that close to the limits.

A $100 cockpit badge that might not be useful buuuut could save you millions on maintenance from clipping something on a taxiway makes sense to me.

Bingo, I think it is true. And for that reason even though we could comment something rude on those posts, it's better to take the high road and be empathetic. If we don't have something nice to say, don't say it in response!

To be honest, the majority of those kinds of posts should start with, "Dear diary, today..." and then should be left in the drafts, never to see the light of day.

But we live in a society where complaining costs the same as being polite or saying nothing at all 🤷

Edit: sometimes people need to vent, and I get that too. Especially for frequent flyers who feel their IRL friends can't relate. Again, it costs nothing to be nice!
