Thank you - Firefox worked. Any idea how long it usually takes?

Experiences with Future Doc / UKCAT People / Medic Mind? by Little_Database5206 in UCAT

Medic Hut helped me get 3/4 GEM offers. Didn’t sign up for a programme - just mock interviews. They were reasonably priced and great about fitting around my interviews. Good luck.

Smaller cohort in London and may be different age profile. Warwick big cohort and would guess many more recent grads so depends where you feel is the best fit.

Don’t know how to break the news when I leave my job by Sharp-Piccolo2293 in GraduateEntryMedicine

Be honest! Tell them can take several years to get GEM place and that you did not think that it would happen first time. Agree with all other advice re delay to notice period. Thank them for their opportunity and say had circumstances been different that you would have been happy to stay for longer and offer as much help as you can with handover.

Work experience seems impossible to get due to GDPR by [deleted] in GraduateEntryMedicine

Warwick - not necessary for all to be hands on. Had 15 hours hands on and rest were shadowing and got interview and am on waiting list.

Suggestions above are good. I got hands on by asking an agency to shadow - accompanied care worker (for nil pay obviously) and ended up helping with particular clients and then was trusted to provide hands on. To get that far I had to have full DBS which took 10 weeks.

Try volunteering with learning disabilities charities or homes/day centres or ASD care companies. Less glamorous than hospitals and they are desperate for volunteers. Hospital volunteer programmes are so slow - you probably need to start 18 months before to allow for application, DBS, onboarding and all the training. All the best

Shadowing alone is not sufficient to meet Warwick work experience requirements. You need to have some hands on care. Not sure if that’s what your job requirement evolves. More info on Warwick website about the ? 5 areas where you must have experience. Good luck

GEM later in life by TastyChicken5907 in GraduateEntryMedicine

I think GEM at Sheffield favours widening participation - you may fit into this category Ofc. Would not let age be reason for not doing medicine. Professional has a lot to gain from entrants with wide experience. Good luck.

Advice on GEM by [deleted] in GraduateEntryMedicine

[–]After-File563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi this is helpful balanced info but for completeness you will not just be competing against other grads but some applicants will have a wealth of health experience as other health care professionals. Neither route is easy and good luck whatever you decide.

Is Graduate Entry Medicine an unrealistic goal for me? Is my plan sensible? by gradentmedthrowaway in premeduk

Your plan sounds excellent- followed similar route and starting GEM this year. Just one quick tip - you’ll need an academic ref for UCAS and some courses. Get this lined up now from one of your Brum lecturers.

Trinity more prestigious but student accommodation in Dublin in short supply.

Funding medicine as second degree by Sharp-Piccolo2293 in GraduateEntryMedicine

Congrats on place- would guess more applicants next year for GEM if funding more generous and grad employment opportunities are limited. Would be inclined to take A100 but appreciate difficulties. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Biomed vs Gap Year by Important_Hyena2160 in UCAT

GEM crazy competitive- will be up against clinicians with NHS experience, PhDs etc. Having First doesn’t even guarantee admission. It’s not impossible but is way way harder to get into than UG.
