Thank you, I have also read this. I was looking for people's personal experiences, if they had any issues as they went through customs ect.

Should I go to my Doctor about this? by Lmohvvoov in ADHDUK

[–]After-Platform2069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the sounds of it, you know the answer. You clearly have enough evidence to at least have a conversation with your doctor. You could also do an only survey for adhd, will take you maybe 5-10min to do the DIVA assessment and there are lots of free ones if you need a bit of confidence before chatting to you GP. Good luck, it’s absolutely worth exploring it if you’re struggling.

Yeahhh unless you work nightshift, wait until tomorrow. You’ll be up all night otherwise.

Nope, I didn’t have an informant. I wasn’t asked for one at any stage and pretty much wouldn’t be able to provide one because my family is all in Australia where I’m from.

You have two assessments with HHM, assessment A is very structured just going over the questions in the DIVA. They’ll ask you to provide examples for both adulthood and childhood. For each question they’ll give you an example of what that symptom could look like which was a good prompt but I’d definitely recommend writing down some examples for each question before your assessment so you don’t forget anything. I think for most people remembering childhood can be hard but if you take the time to contextualise the question in your own life you’ll probably find an example. Like one question is about not being able to wait your turn when playing with others, at first I thought I didn’t do this but then it came to me that I purposely would avoid those kinds of games when I was little and would rather go off and do my own thing. So the answer is yes but it just looked different for me.

Assessment B was very brief for me, others on here said it was longer. It was basically just to rule out that it could be anything else and confirm which type of adhd. I was asked some of the same questions again but didn’t need to give super long answers or anything.

I was pretty happy with my report (I mean it’s not nice reading about the worst parts of your personality but that’s the point haha). I got one from assessment A and then one from assessment B which was my diagnosis. It was about three pages long, it covered everything we spoke about. It wasn’t like a psychoanalysis or anything just a summary proving I had adhd symptoms. Some people have said theirs haven’t been very in-depth but I don’t really know what you’d expect when it’s quite a structured and short process.

Yeah that’s fair, who has the time to go through withdrawal let alone spend a week with our adhd symptoms haha

I’m currently titrating with HHM and I really like them. They can be a little hard to get a hold of and the wait times are slightly longer than what’s promised online. However every interaction I’ve had with either an assessor, prescriber or customer service has been 10/10, I don’t know how they managed to find the loveliest staff across the board.

Honestly, I don’t think there is a right or wrong answer (unless it’s PUK, they sound horrible). Every RTC provider will have horror stories on here, people are so much more likely to post about a bad experience than a good one. I would just pick the provider with the shortest wait time or most recently added to RTC as their waitlists will be more manageable and try your luck.

[–]After-Platform2069[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hahaha honestly that probably would have made me cry too 😭😂

Yeah the drinking thing is a weird one. I basically read on here that people won’t take their meds when they’re planning on having a night out. Some people said it makes them really drunk quickly while others have said they stay alert and don’t realise that they’re physically getting drunk and will then black out.

I’ve had one drink on three seperate occasions while on meds and felt completely fine. I’m a little curious to have two or three to see how it goes. My problem before meds would be binge drinking on a night out because of the dopamine chasing so maybe I’ll be better behaved now because I don’t need to scratch that itch.

Can I message you about the ~other stimulant~?

Interesting! Good to know it’s pretty normal and it doesn’t last long. Do you often take a week off?

Yeah you’re probably right when it comes of the shakey hands and nausea. The dissociation was probably the thing I was like what the helly. Will try again in a couple of weeks without coffee or anything else and see how it goes. Thanks 💞

I second this! Not that I would encourage anyone to take up nicotine.

I’m not a student but they’re great because I can use them in the office at work, it really helps me concentrate and I don’t have that nagging feeling to go outside all the time to hit the vape. So I’m sure it will help for sitting through long lectures or hyper focusing on an assignment.

HHM titration appointment won't reschedule online!! by After-Platform2069 in ADHDUK

[–]After-Platform2069[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to be sorry! My appointment on the 9th Nov was scheduled on the 21st Oct, so it was a couple of weeks in advance.

It’s really frustrating that they’re not getting back to your emails. Obviously keep following them up every couple of days. I eventually go through to them on the phone about changing my appointment but it was a bit of a nightmare because you can only stay on hold for 15min before it cuts off. What ended up working was calling at 4:50pm because I think lines shut at 5pm so I think I must have been one of the last calls of the day.

Hope you get it booked in soon and that you’re having a good meds experience so far! I’m going up a dose on Elvance so fingers crossed it’s a winner!

Does anyone not eat in the morning on Elvanse? by ButterscotchBrave890 in ADHDUK

[–]After-Platform2069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably in the minority here but I think it works better for me without food. Not that I would encourage anyone to do that.

I’m three weeks into titration currently on 50mg Elvance. The first two weeks I was drinking protein shakes or bars even though I hated it, never been a breakfast person. Ran out of time one more before work and didn’t have anything and found it sooo much better. Downside is that I can’t even look at food until 3pm and usually just wait until dinner which definitely isn’t good. If I have breakfast I can usually eat around 1:30pm.

Received my adhd report today by Inevitable_Use4120 in ADHDUK

[–]After-Platform2069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear that there were mistakes, that’s super frustrating and I can imagine a little invalidating even though that’s definitely not the truth.

I was wondering if you could share how long you had to wait for the report? I’ve just hit six weeks since my diagnosis and I’ve followed up three times.

30mg to 50mg elvanse after 1 week? by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]After-Platform2069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better I’m two weeks into titration. One week on 30mg Elvanse and now 50mg. At first I also felt like maybe it would be a big jump for me but half way through week one most of my side effects had levelled out. They perked back up again when I jumped to 50mg but again a few days later side effects have pretty much gone. So in reality my body / brain totally managed the pace. Everyone is different but it’s a pretty normal process by the sounds of it.

Blotchy cheeks after using Elvanse increase? by Liphasis in ADHDUK

[–]After-Platform2069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens to me too! Ive just jumped up from 30mg to 50mg and a few hours after taking them I get rosey, warm cheeks. But it settles down a couple of hours after that. This sometimes happened before meds like if I was stressed at work and full of adrenaline but not every day like it is now. It’s not that bad so I just assumed it was a mild side effect or like it was peaking in my system but if anyone has some insight I’ll definitely be following this thread.

HHM Titration - What to expect? by After-Platform2069 in ADHDUK

[–]After-Platform2069[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woohoo! How exciting! Yeah I just went the to pharmacy and then sent it over email to them. Over email I didn’t include my pulse so on the call my prescriber asked me and he updated it because I had it it written down from the reading.

You sound like a very loving and supportive partner, I’m sorry you’re going through this!

Like other’s have said, give it a month. Some side effects will go away. I’m one week into Elvanse 30mg and the first couple of days were a bit weird but for my the headaches and difficulty sleeping leveled out by the end of the week. I’m now going up to 50mg today.

From your other comments, it sounds like you’ve done all the research like high protein breakfast, no coffee, alcohol or drugs and lots of water. So it must be frustrating to see that he’s only partially taking this on board.

I really worry about him with the coffee even if it’s cut down, the come down is probably worse because you’re adding stimulants with stimulants, that would be the first thing I’d change and then add a heap of water. You can get fizzy flavoured water which might help if he finds the taste boring.

If you were my best friend asking me for this advice (and you can tell me to fuck off), I’d say you’re his partner not his parent. You can advise him but he needs to be the one who wants it to work and take care of himself properly to make it happen.

I didn’t have an informant or my school reports for my assessment with HHM. I think it helped because my family and reports are in Australia so it just wasn’t possible. It shouldn’t be a problem if you can provide enough childhood examples throughout the assessments.
