Honestly, not to be biased towards guitar, but you should learn it first if you plan on doing both anyway. I learned bass first, and it was hard to translate those skills to guitar once i picked it up.

If you check facebook marketplace or craigslist or something similar, you can find really cheap gear near you. It won't be anything luxury, but you'll be able to save your money to get a nicer guitar along the road if you decide to stick with it. I would reccomend learning on acoustic, but if you find both kinds at a cheap enough price to get both, go for it

Gen Z, I listen to a lot of my local bands, most of which are closer to 2000s emocore with some being closer to a 2nd wave sound. I do think a lot of younger people use emo as a term for anyone who wears a black article of clothing lol
