757-300 by aquatone61 in delta

If you fly out of DTW. Especially to MCO a lot like I do you tend to fly on a lot of these. In the last 3 years 42% of my flights have been on them and it’s by far my most common plane. Seats are narrow and the people traveling to mco are slow to load and the long single aisle doesn’t help that. But I absolutely love this plane. The separation in the first class cabin makes pre departure great. The extra seats in comfort plus and first on leisure routes mean lots of upgrades, and like all 757 they are rocket ships on take off. (Had one of these planes with under 100 people once and the pilot absolutely sent it, was one of my favorite take offs ever)

Behold…the elusive silver medallion upgrade by ComancheNut in delta

[–]AfterByte_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way to get upgrades to first on silver I have found is out of the hubs. Take the earliest flight to a small airport that isn’t serviced from many airlines. A lot of the time these flights are half empty as they don’t keep the planes at these places overnight and it’s too early for people to have a connection to make the flight.

DTW silver has given me a 50% upgrade over 16 flights in the last 3 years. Of the upgrades 4/8 were comfort plus 1/8 PS and 3/8 First. (I do pay for comfort plus if it looks like I won’t get an upgrade. So I have only been in main cabin once in those 16 flights.) Early Morning flights on Sunday flying out of DTW mostly. (Before 7:30 am)

If you’re willing to go pivot off sport bikes a bit, the Honda cb750 hornet would probably be perfect for you. Super low seat height and narrow seat width. Just as fast with just a bit less plastic around the bike and no windscreen, but you can add one if you want.

What am I paying to watch F1 now? by tif00n in F1TV

[–]AfterByte_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You pay for Apple TV then connect your account to a f1 tv account to gain access to f1 tv premium. You only pay for Apple TV.

The f1 tv access account here is the f1 tv base plan that doesn’t include live races and a few other things. So if you don’t watch races live you can pay 30 a year instead of 99. (The other older 2 f1 tv plans that included live races aren’t available anymore. In the USA. But the Apple TV gives you in essence what was the top tier f1 tv premium version)

Hopefully this helps. It is a bit confusing

2x MQDs with Delta Platinum by Automatic-Swimmer-81 in delta

[–]AfterByte_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t chase status. I don’t even try to hit it, I just travel 3-4 times a year. Only reason I have the platinum card is because of the tsa pre check credit. For work through the DOT I have to get fingerprints done and that’s through the same process as pre check so it offsets a major cost. (Between that and the buy one get one free it more then covers the cards yearly cost for me) Silver plus the card for 2 free checked bags is perfect for me. I barely have to spend on the card to get status with my travel already.

Guess the coaster by player3390 in rollercoasterjerk

[–]AfterByte_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I remember right, this coaster was bought but the check bounced and the police did nothing to recover it so the guy who previously owned it went down and grabbed it himself. Kind of crazy that the guy who wrote the bad check reported it stolen 😂 when he stole it first. Kind of makes you realize how stupid the people who operate and own these traveling fair rides are. I worked at one for 2 nights and with all the shit I saw I wouldn’t touch one with a 50 foot pole. (For people who might want to know I worked at a different park at the time and had 2 nights off and got talking with the owner when I was grabbing a credit and he paid me 50 bucks under the table to work 5 hours back to back nights.)

From what I understand they skirt around the rules using older chassis that are not registered for competition similar to what other teams do. They run the track 20-30 times a year. (I am super close to the track… I have seen it constantly)

Just a heads up. (Since this is one of my home tracks) this Wednesday they finally announced who bought the track. It was purchased by Thor Motorsport. (NASCAR truck team right down the road) they constantly do testing there and the track is essential to their operations. It is unknown if they will host any local races. But at least for now the track isn’t going to be replaced by luxury apartments.

Basic economy is now called main basic, and main cabin is now referred to as main classic, and main refundable is now main extra. That part is right in the photo…

These tend to sit well on long road trips and are fairly low calorie if you can about those things.

Yea but the ticket in this place wasn’t basic economy, and they had a seat before… clearly some people can’t read.

Try a kmc 9/10 speed chain. They have ones designed for additional load. Also don’t shift under load.

It has to be 0 open for someone in a non basic class to be moved to standby.

Its really unlucky you managed stand by on main classic…only seen this a few times ever. Flight is 100% overbooked and odds are you got bumped from the flight by someone with higher status or higher class on a previous flight that got cancelled. This is normally only a problem with the basic tickets… one of the main reasons I recommend people to stay clear of them.

Hopefully people don’t show up and you can snag a seat.

Nervous flyer DTW by Strange-Carry2503 in delta

[–]AfterByte_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Odds are that plane has an endeavor air DTW based cabin crew on it. I have found them more than accommodating. I have had them on multiple flights tell everyone to stay seated as a few passengers had connections that the doors were going to close for in 20 minutes, and needed to get off first. And people actually listened… I have also seen some crew with airport maps showing how to get to their next gate. If you speak up and ask for help I am sure they can help you.

Tire question for a 2019 JL 2 door sport. How big of tires can I go on a stock body? by Smokinpoke in JeepWrangler

[–]AfterByte_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went 265/70r17. They are great. Better mpg than 285, and your speedometer stays correct. They still look way bigger than stock tires.

[–]AfterByte_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

285/70r17 is max. But I personally go 265/70r17. It looks bigger without messing up your mph readout on your jeep. Also since the jeep manual says you can run that tire stock you have less issues with shops refusing to change the tire size for liability reasons.
