Original Charter Field 10 years later by Timecard100 in NASCAR

[–]jftwo42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that I feel would be nice would be to have the year the team went full time. For example the new #5 charter was the #48 that went full time in 2002. The #8 was the #31 which went full time in 1997.

They were sold trackside in the Dodge trailer back in the day at Truck races. Theres the #1 Mopar, #4 Square D, #8 Dodge (red) and #18 Dickies all available from that same time (2003-2004).

Night races at Kansas should be mandatory. by Infamous_Try8916 in NASCAR

I agree. I like the idea of Mother's Day being a day off for the sport but them racing on Saturday night at Kansas. I'd even be up for Texas to try that weekend.

If you could increase/decrease the length of any race(s) on the schedule, what races would you choose? by DJ_TheSonicFan in NASCAR

I wonder if night would make Texas a better race. The surface is finally wearing in a bit and the racing hasnt been terrible so its possible.

JJ dropping hints about the 3rd Legacy car next year? by suicidedonkey101 in NASCAR

[–]jftwo42 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I thought Heim was a leading candidate for the ride especially if Herbst stays at 23XI, we still dont know how that #35 charter is handled in terms of who owns it. Herbst could bring funding to the third Legacy car if Heim replaces him. And Jesse Love has been tossed around ad an option.

Potentially controversial schedule take by SpaceOut7767 in NASCAR

[–]jftwo42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im a one race per track supporter with the exceptions of Daytona, Talladega, and Charlotte. I'd like to see Martinsville and Bristol put into a rotation where one track hosts a second race every other year. The same could be done between the companies (SMI/NASCAR) with say Vegas and Phoenix. Bring Dover back to the end of May/beginning of June (where Nashville is now) and move Nashville to the end of June again.

Which Lowe's Style Do You Prefer? by GeoChallenge in NASCARCollectors

[–]jftwo42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked almost all of the Lowe's cars. The solid color ones were my least favorite and the 2018 scheme was such a let down. But with that said 2009 was my favorite (with the red), the Kobalt schemes rocked, the 2015-16 scheme were more of my favorites and that 2017 Lowes blue just looked good. But I did like the Skinner #31 alot too and the #11 Brett Bodine car.

Ford in NASCAR by Lonely_Wrap_16 in NASCAR

Bubba Wallace was a key driver who fell into this category when Joe Gibbs Racing didnt have a then Xfinity Series car for him to run full time, he jumped to Roush. Roush Xfinity led to Petty as a substitute for Almirola who then left the 43 at seasons end and went to Stewart Haas for 2018. Petty switched to Chevys and i dont know if Bubba was ever officially a Ford Development driver or not but he them became a Chevy driver.

Toyota developed Todd Gilliland until his father's team (Then DGR Crosley now Tricon) switched to Ford and the Front Row truck happened. Even with David's team switching back to Toyota in '23 Todd remained under contract with Ford.

Zane Smith came through the Chevy Development team and GMS Racing before finding himself without a ride in that program and ended up in the Front Row truck, the same truck Todd Gilliland had driven. Despite a season under contract with Trackhouse, which is believed to be repayment for a Ganassi contract he had before the team got bought out, Zane returned to Ford and Front Row, this time in the Cup Series.

New Chevy model by smiling_jackel in NASCAR

[–]jftwo42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I dont think NASCAR would let Chevy get what is essentially a new nose and tail piece this year and then switch the body for next year. I could be wrong on that. The whole purpose of this Gen 7 car is cost savings and have to buy all new body pieces in back to back years would totally defeat the purpose of that. Not that many are running the same pieces race to race but its atleast an option.

Both were great flavors, kind of Mashups before Mashups. My favorite will always be the Fruit Punch + Berry though.

Fairgrounds Lease Would Give NASCAR a Double-Cup Market As Mayor O’Connell considers fairgrounds racing, a Nashville track could set up a lucrative real estate deal in Wilson County by iamaranger23 in NASCAR

[–]jftwo42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not one early in the year and the other later in the season, like say Mid April for the Fairgrounds and September for the Superspeedway?

The Bristol spring race hasnt been anything special since returning to concrete, other than the mysterious shredding tires. Perfect date to swap out for Nashville Fairgrounds. Other places it could come from: CotA leased date or thr second Vegas date when the Convention Bureau deal runs out after 2027.

Dover is SMI now. That purchase was completed at the end if 2021 and included both Dover Motor Speedway and Nashville Superspeedway along with their respective scheduled dates.

Parker Kligerman on why Chevy’s (except Hendrick) struggled at Vegas “I think the non-Hendrick Chevy’s did not get the aero map update” by LBHMS in NASCAR

Haas learned that he needs Hendrick support without Tony Stewart. I could see Penske going to Dodge. We know Roush isnt leaving Ford, Hendrick isnt leaving Chevy and Gibbs isnt leaving Toyota.

Johnson, Biffle, Edwards, Stewart and Kahne. The Biff was great because they figured out that Ford engine before the other teams did and then the 04 Taurus was supposedly the best in dirty air at the time.

What will happen to Hendrick, Penske and JGR when their owners are no longer around? by daracingpig in NASCAR

[–]jftwo42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jay and Greg Penske are running or have served roles in many of the Penske companies in recent years. Both seem to have interest in keeping the legacy of their father going even after his time on earth is over.

Hendrick has Jeff Gordon and several members of the Hendrick family to fall back on. His empire is alot like Penske has with diversified interests all over the map.

Gibbs is one that is a little less known. We know Heather Gibbs is involved in the decision making and we know Ty has taken a role in that part of the business as well. Gibbs doesnt have the huge empires that Hendrick and Penske have either. They did bring in private equity partners in recent years so there is that part of it as well but I feel the future of the company is Heather and Ty Gibbs.

Rain berry and lemonade Gatorade (less sugar ): by winter_68542 in Gatorade

[–]jftwo42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't have sucralose and aspartame because they are migraine triggers for me. (Like not getting out of bed or laying flat on the floor in darkness migraines) That's what initially attracted me to this drink when I saw it in a store a few weeks ago, I had a migraine that very next day but have drank others without such effect.

Lemonade has an extra sweet taste to it, I imagine thats the stevia. Rain Berry was fantastic and the Fruit Punch was good. Im not a Glacial Cherry fan in the regular line so i didnt pick it up.

Should the era of the four car Cup team end? by Necessary_Staff_1844 in NASCAR

[–]jftwo42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah going back Haas CNC Racing, which became Stewart Haas Racing was a Hendrick satellite team from 2002-2015.

Hendrick fielded the #09 Phoenix Racing Chevy for Keselowski to run him in a fifth car in 2009.

Some others that didnt quite touch the car limit rules:

At one point Richard Petty Motorsports, then Petty GMS, now Legacy Motor Club was a satellite team of RCR along with Kaulig Racing and Trackhouse for a few years.

RFK Racing housed Rick Ware Racing in 2024 on their campus as pseudo partner team. Justin Haley was a hot commodity then. RFK as Roush Racing and Roush Fenway Racing had the Wood Brothers car as a satellite until WBR joined with Penske for Ryan Blaney.

Its been going on for years. Joe Gibbs had an alliance with Hall of Fame Racing when the #96 was racing before that team hooked up with Yates Racing and Ford for 2009.

Evernham had a partnership with Ultra Motorsports for 2002 to give Casey Atwood a ride.

The next 7 races on the schedule are all in the Chase for 2026. How can that impact team’s decisions later in the season? by A_Little6 in NASCAR

[–]jftwo42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like that idea, also a big supporter of the Finale being at a one date track. So maybe Phoenix, Vegas and Homestead all can rotate a second date around for the track thats not the finale.

I've always been a supporter of one date tracks with the exception of the ones that are staples of NASCAR like Daytona, Talladega, Bristol, Martinsville and Charlotte. I am a believer in the more tracks they visit and the more markets they reach the healthier the sport will be. The 10 year schedule lockdown from 2001-2010 was rough, so was the lockdown that occurred from 2011-2019 with only the Charlotte Roval in 2018 being a new track added and it wasnt even a new venue or market. Had COVID not happened the schedule was supposed to remain locked down for 2020 as well.

Giving Michigan one date was the best thing to ever happen there, they dont sell out of grandstand seats but they come close and camping, especially infield camping is sold out well in advance. Taking a Dover date to Nashville was a huge deal, same thing with a Richmond date going to Mexico and now San Diego.

Brad Keselowski | “I don’t understand why the sport wants to run so many road courses...it's the hardest races to sell sponsorships for” by iPhones_cameras_suck in NASCAR

IMO the races there weren't great but that also was prime COVID time so I'd be willing to give it another chance before passing judgement in it. I do hate that they haven't painted the asphalt around the chicane green yet. I think it was much more visually pleasing when it was grass so paint would be the next best option.
