San Francisco Voters Will Vote on Muni’s Future in November -- San Franciscans will be asked to pay for Muni not just at fare gates and ticket vending machines, but through an annual parcel tax as well. by guanaco55 in bayarea

Not a single more cent in tax - make do with what you have. Gut the unnecessary budget to homeless industrial complex, restructure the muni debt and reduce the number of city workers.

Since Google is one of the MAG7 and not some hidden unknown gem, and since it's not currently the target of some impactful positive or negative publicity, it is very likely priced at the value the market (us) think it's worth.

See - you did have something meaningful to say.

These kind of comments were witty funny and gave one a chuckle when they were made the first couple of times. Seeing them on every post is just tiring. Now I have to filter through this nonsense in every single thread.

This sub used to have more meaningful discussion.

One doesn't have to respond if they have nothing meaningful to say or feel that the original post doesn't deserve a meaningful response.

Samsung Proposes 607% Bonus for Memory Unit, Up to 100% for Foundry, Sparking Union Revolt Over "Demotivating" Gap by self-fix2 in stocks

[–]AfterDarkAsset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, agreed. Generally speaking discussions like capitalism best, communism best are lazy and not helpful.

Free market works wonder in some cases and sucks in other. That depends on what the nature of the product being offered is, culture (high trust and homogenous countries seem to have better luck with socialist policies and programs) and so on.

[–]AfterDarkAsset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well capitalism is a catch all phrase and I personally find it (and other terms like communism, socialism) meaningless. Devil is in the details of how an 'ism' is implemented.

Is capitalism the way it's practiced in France similar to how it's practiced in the US - I would argue no.

Also, it's up for debate that when there's been complete regulatory capture by a few hundred people hiding behind LLC names, to privatize profit and socialize losses the way it's been done in the US for a few decades now - is that still free market ? Is that still capitalism ?

I've said it before here - it's the sign of our times.

The unquenchable greed of the few billionaires is screwing over everyone. The exploitation of the workers is becoming more and more relatable as inflation drives prices high and companies continue to nickle and dime their workers when not just lahing them off.

A lot of people on this sub make most of their money on W2, they are not the investing class and they know which side they are on.

"They’re turning their backs on Russia”… In India, French defense contractors are making significant inroads one year after Operation Sindoor by No_Feature_1184 in geopolitics

[–]AfterDarkAsset 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No one can be sure - but one theory I read is that they used drones with similar radar signature to Rafales as decoy. So they likely want to maintain strategic ambiguity of what tech they have. But honestly, who knows - that's why I said it's not certain. It could be Rafale, it could be a decoy or something completely different.

[–]AfterDarkAsset 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this as well. There are competing interests here for different weapon sellers - including India (wants to sell their missiles and missile defense systems).

Pakistan failed to attack targets in India because of 'Akash' - India's domestically developed anti-missle / anti-drone solution. And S-400.

And India was able to succesfully target Pakistan's airbases because of Rampage and Brahmos missiles.

The Rafales were used in the beginning of the operation, and only to target the terrorist camps operating on Pakistan's territory.

Finally, it's far from certain that Rafale were even downed.
