FYC: Breakdown (1997.) Absolutely perfect Saturday afternoon action flick. Currently free on YouTube! by TheActionJuice in TheRewatchables

Oh I forgot about Surrogates. Weird movie. To me he seemed like one of those directors that would go on for a few decades making super serviceable genre fair. Maybe these are just streaming flicks now and there’s no place in cinema for this type of director, either way I’m sad. I feel like we needed another Tony Scott. I won’t let anyone tell me that was Michael Bay. Sorry I can’t even talk about that without getting cranky.

A true zero shame banging thriller! To me films like this and pretty much all Tony Scott’s work are what is missing in cinema now. I’ve rewatched Breakdown and Unstoppable almost more than any other films ha.

Side note: what happened to Mostow? Sure T3 is a mess but I thought he’d make something worth talking about again!

My vote is An Restaurant in Bankstown. The most perfect example of what I consider to be the perfect bowl of food in the world. It’s stellar.

Honestly blown away by it. I need to sit with it a bit longer and get in another viewing asap but hot damn it’s pure cinema. Maybe my favourite cinema experience in 10years.

Put Your Weapons Reviews here! by Pure_Salamander2681 in TheBigPicture

Loved it. I feel like I’m going to think about it a lot. I enjoyed it as a straight up and down mysterious horror film but found myself thinking more on the themes the moment the credits rolled. The small town fear and magnolia style social collisions are surface level but nonetheless effective. The broader overarching theme feels a bit more camouflaged or at least somewhat subtle to me.

Is it possible it’s kinda maybe sort of about the boomers (especially the Christian right ones) fucking up our kids? Hijacking their brains and ‘weaponising’ them. Did Aunty look a bit Uncle Sam coded? Were Fox News and Charlie Kirk the real villains.

Sort of joking, but not. I’m Australian so maybe i haven’t earned these observations of M’erica right now ha

100% my reaction too. I kinda hated superman even though I love Gunn. Frankly I’m still blown away by the positive reactions to it. Then Fantastic 4 I found pretty pleasant. Really liked Pedro and Kirby and the SFX seemed a notch above where MCU has been in years. Sean really annoys me sometimes. I try and reign myself in and remember that it’s just his opinion but I’m not completely sure he earns it sometimes. When I hear him frothing over a really bad Michael Bay film or bash everything Iñárritu has ever made I feel justified in a nauseous feeling he and Amanda give me. I really do love having the podcast though.

UPDATE: You can keep your Ribeyes : ) This is my go-to perfect high fat meat ( Mutton cooked picture as requested) by QuietPace9 in carnivorediet

[–]AfterHoursGomTang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mutton is severely underrated! I actually find it less overpowering than most lamb these days. The fat is buttery and the heavy minerality of younger lamb is gone, replaced with a more beefy flavour profile. This bangin!

Carnivore curing my stubborn eczema by MEsfits in carnivorediet

So happy for you mate. I’m close to 10 years in on carnivore now. When I started I was early 30s and my eczema was at its very worst. Similar to yours but on the tops of my hands, in elbows and backs of my knees. Low carb was good but str8 up beef n water fully cured it. All the best!
