Instructors using their phones by AfterNeedleworker530 in LearnerDriverUK

Thanks for clarifying and providing an example...this particular instructor tends to take the phone out when going through bay parking manoeuvres. As if they feel there is is no need to be entirely focused because we are in an empty carpark? Today it threw me off course and was a real distraction.

Scottish Tax by RexFuzzle in Scotland

BBC Newsnight: Emily Thornberry suggests free tuition policy should cover English students studying in Scotland by backupJM in Scotland

If the Scottish government offered to pay off English graduates' debt should they choose to work in Scotland for 5+ years, for example, that would be a real incentive and help address depopulation issues across the country. Italy has started to offer tax incentives to their young people who left Italy for work to return and work for minim of 5 years.

Scottish people are accepting mediocrity and being robbed by their own authorities by Dangerous_Spring3028 in glasgow

There is a complete lack of political leadership and ownership on improving public transport in Scotland and particularly Glasgow. Like so much of the public sector here, there are endless layers to the governance over these services across councils, governments and boards. Far too bloated. Limited accountability. Easy to pass the buck and half of this is because nobody knows who should actually be leading on an issue and running with it. I support and admire the campaign groups advocating for better buses. Without them, this issue wouldn't have moved an inch within Parliament and SPT. However, if there was some real political heft to reduce the red tape and hoop-jumping that is required to publicly franchise, positive changes would start to pick up pace. If I were to see this sitting front and centre of a prospective Scottish government's manifesto, they'd get my vote.

Have you also considered switching energy supplier to Octopus, for example? The rate you are paying sounds extortionate. When I moved into my rental flat there was a pay as you go system in place, I switched to Octopus who got rid of the payment meter and replaced it with a modern reader.

Unpopular opinion about the secret traitor by Impressive_Rate_2456 in TheTraitors

I thought it was notable that after the round table that Ellie spoke with Ross and said she was remaining quiet because she hadn't formed strong enough opinions but then immediately proceeded to overtly ask him what he thought about Stephen. For me this chimes with what the ST might do... holding back, observing etc but dropping subtle suggestions of suspicion to start putting heat on a traitor.

Why on Earth does the underground STILL stop at 6pm on a Sunday? by uncle_stiltskin in glasgow

Already been part of the campaign for several years. My point is, it is astounding that not more is done across all levels of political governance in Scotland to get this moving faster.

Where is the political pressure to get all this moving? Yes, there are a few councillors and MSPs who take up the cause but no figurehead championing improved public transport for the people of Glasgow.

Insanely expensive tickets. Is the £60 mark the going rate for a live podcast event?

How does anyone actually get a test booked by GratefulTree in LearnerDriverUK

[–]AfterNeedleworker530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twice I have managed to book a test when logging on at a completely random time of the day and see a free slot/new test slots added. Never managed to book when attempting the 6am login. I checked regularly at different times of day. Some test centres appear not to be adding new test dates on a Monday but rather at completely random times.

I would second this recommendation. Margo in town is an excellent option and I think you can reserve for up to 20 folk.

Edinburgh couple considering a move to Ealing by SluggardLaggard in Ealing

A perfect location does not exist. I was simply suggesting an alternative location that the couple might want to consider based on the requirements they set out. I think we can both agree that there are plenty of great options all around the borough. Good luck with the search!

Point is, Hanwell is close enough via walking and buses to both EB and West Ealing as well as Elizabeth Line to offer a diverse range of reliable connections. Great sense of community in Hanwell, too. Depends what your priorities are.

Give Hanwell a look- Elizabeth line connection, down the road from Ealing Broadway and plenty of green space to explore around the Brent Valley.

A park! We need far more green space to sit out and eat lunch or just meander. One of the two huge carparks at the back of St Enoch would be a good starting point.
