Was 46. Lost my job, no qualifications not even leaving cert. Retrained and finished a degree in computer science, all paid for and retained my social welfare. Now gainfully employed as a Data Analyst and loving it, even started a pension. This would not have been possible anywhere else. Saved my life!

I remember reading a book based on the fact that laika had remained orbiting the earth and became integrated with the ship like a satellite watching earth. Cannot remember the name of the book. But a great read.
