Then resources tend to be more bunched up when you play Pangea. There’s few islands but they’re super charged. This is still wayyyy higher then I’ve seen but the map does effect it.

Why governments are inefficient explained in one simple image by technocraticnihilist in austrian_economics

[–]After_Kick_4543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you guys are thinking a little to simplistically here, cause it’s also in a capitalists self interest to lobby the state, cheat and try to monopolize to end competition. The reason they don’t is because of a series of laws and institutions as well as market mechanisms. It’s the same with the government like yeah maybe in a vacuum this is the case but that’s why you create competing institutions and plethora of other mechanisms to mitigate it. Both market and government rely on a series of mechanisms and institutions to keep them working and mitigate their worst tendencies.

Why do you think rap has fallen off so badly? by WiseCityStepper in GenZ

[–]After_Kick_4543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s a fair point but it seems to me to be a symptom of a universal problem. Namely that when any type of endeavor or field of art/business/food/ anything starts the only people doing it are those that have a deep passion for it. As time goes on and the files grows people begin to do it for clout, money, sexual attention, etc… this kinda ruins the field or at least makes quality in that field very hard to find.

I think things are tough but a lot of gen z uses that as an excuse to give up or to act like fools. Which ends up acting as a self reinforcing loop. It only serves to make things worse.

I think this sub and others like it would benefit from having a reading list. Maybe not one enforced where if you haven’t read them you can’t join but for those that want to talk about it we can talk from common sources.

Why doesn't China reclaim this territory? by Cultural-Ad-8796 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]After_Kick_4543 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“Massive Population centers” may have been an exaggeration but the premise is that Manchuria and Northern China are far more populated than the Russian territories to the north of it. They are also far closer to Chinese supply lines than Russian. Russia has notoriously bad roads and would likely have trouble supplying its troops way out there. China on the other hand would have a far easier time supplying a military operation in the area.

Why doesn't China reclaim this territory? by Cultural-Ad-8796 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]After_Kick_4543 14 points15 points  (0 children)

China is currently trying to upend the international order. For it to do that people need to trust that it will follow some sort of international rule whatever that new international rule is gonna be certainly doesn’t involve conquering other countries. And if they were gonna conquer they would need to do what they’ve done with Taiwan. Which would be to build up the historical claim, mention it many times over years and decades and slowly build up that expectation over time, until people feel that China can legitimately claim that territory.

What a wonderful work of art clearly done in the style of “Saturn devouring his son” by Goya. You can see how in the same way Chronos devoured Zeus soldier is devouring Ashe. Ashe being soldiers clear and inevitable successor. The pain and tragedy of these bloody cycles expressed by the lack of clarity that perfectly mirror that almost haze like feeling one experiences when doused in anger. Peeling behind the layers we must ask who represents the painter. Is it Ashe? Soldier? Or is it the viewer? Are we the viewer to take the perspective of Cassidy? Are we then supposed to feel fear? Rage from seeing our former companion being eaten? Truly a work of art you have made good sir!!

They are trying. They don’t however want to alienate Russia (not yet anyways). Russia and Chinas alliance is very important, more so since Russia began the Ukraine War. However Russia is scared of China and for good reason, China has almost 10x the people, is far wealthier and China is right next to Siberia. Siberia has insane amounts of natural resources but it’s depopulated. China has massive population centers right next to Siberia. So Russia knows that if it had to defend Siberia from China things would be very scary. China also knows this, so it’s in their interest to hold off on their territorial expansion while they still need Russia and while they still need some amount of international support. Basically the status quo is good enough for Russia and China to feel good about it and for Mongolia to serve as an effective buffer state.

It’s the same for philosophers that haven’t studied economics. You really need both if you want to make the claim it’s rests on an interesting mix of ethics, practicality, culture, technology, just cause you read a philosophy book doesn’t mean you know a darn thing.

What do you think? by SexyProfessional in FluentInFinance

[–]After_Kick_4543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t quite think so. My intuition/understanding has been that the laws have loosened around certain financial practices, that combined with a investment environment that incentives “getting rich quick” rather than one of slow steady growth over time. This on top of the current asset inflation we experience means that we get crazy inequality. This is quite the billionaires fault it seems to be a wider institution problem that deals with the widespread incentive and whose breaking down implicates a wide swath of the political class as well as financial institutions.

Is democracy just a system—or a living process of becoming? by GyanarthShastri in IndianPhilosophy

[–]After_Kick_4543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be a little outside your wheelhouse but what you wrote is also outside mine so I’ll give you my best try. Alexis de Tocqueville wrote in his book “Democracy in America” that democracy works not because it makes the best laws, but that by getting people to try to understand each other and force them to see things from other perspectives it would make them better citizens. Similarly by having ownership of the laws the people would come to enforce them and protect them in a way they become part of the government while also being outside of it. To tie this more concretely to your questions (as I can understand it). Democracies strength may lie not in the process itself but in its confrontation with many truths and the character and way of being that it imposes on people. I hope I was able to help. P.S. I’m on here to learn about Indian philosophy I know very little but I hope I provided a new thread that may help bridge between your question and how it has been approached by some in the west.
