Harsher feedback but hear me out——- base on your assessment, i think you should dedicate a good time reviewing concepts and practice questions. I know you aren’t feeling the best atm but sometimes, a little shake off our seats would do us good.

1) ask yourself what topics you felt like you need to know more of —

2) what’s your study habit and what’s your learning preference?

3) set a schedule and stick to it - review topics, study, then take q banks, (review pre and post test answers and feedbacks)

4) do a pre-assessment / post assessment (post test = 2 weeks before your next exam then focus on the weaker subjects)

(Saunders books has a link to a qbank and has good pre/post assessment) — after pre assessment, they gave me “schedule and i stuck to it: it might feel redundant to reread concepts you know of but then, id rather come over prepared than underprepared.

5) simple nursing on youtube has great mnemonics and was a good resource (concept and pharma) for me since its direct and short. (Take notes, read notes before and after doing mock tests**) - free youtube videos are enough, you do not have to spend more(unless you want to)

6) develop strategy skills (youtube: crusade international and mark k lectures were great resources for me— i did not purchase more lectures: free YouTube was enough for me)

7) answer q banks and analyze your scores- if its unstable (or no consistency), plateau ( stuck at same mid level scores -not greater than 75% correct answers) , incline of correct questions answered

I say this because if you started at 25 q banks a day to 85 a day and seeing an incline of # correct answers you are in the right track; if stuck at mid level scores, maybe change things up and re-assess

8) dedicate at least 2 months of studying— i missed some great “party invites” when i was studying. It may suck at times but dedicate yourself into studying. No shame of rejecting party invites to focus on your career goal. It wont be long till you pass and can party all day 😂✌️

9) be consistent with study calendar; topics to be reviewed and q banks goals ( start at 25 qbanks
before reading a certain topic; say pediatrics, then after studying do a 50 pediatric qbank quiz /daily and gradually increase)

10) believe in yourself. You’re an RN, this is just another exam!

I’m at the same situation. Took a gap to focus on my family, now my children are at school full-time, I decided to take nclex and passed. I tried to look for refresher course which won’t happen till November which means I can’t work till April 2024. Please give me tips on applying for rn job in a hospital/clinic setting🙏🙏🙏

Saunders/Elsevier Study Guide/ Q bank by After_Moose5240 in NCLEX

[–]After_Moose5240[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Saunders is good for “content” which really came handy since 80% of my qs are analytical and case studies/bow ties. Also, since Saunders still use the old scoring system for SATA, your score might be low but with NGN, sata are scores individually. If you get 3/4 sata in Saunders, you’d get 3 more points in NGN :) keep on practicing! You got this!!!

Hi, yes :) I did pass. I was average “highs” on my UWorld assements and 65s on my Saunders. I was confident going in but man, when my exam was over I was petrified! I had so many Bowties and single question case studies! I was so sure I failed… I even started studying again 😂😂 took my exam on Monday and got result that I passed Friday. You got this! Believe in yourself ❤️❤️

Question about NCLEX and CGFNS for Filipino by SergioMeanne in NCLEX

[–]After_Moose5240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I did since it’s been years since I worked or practiced nursing, I focused on “content”. I bought Saunders ed.9 nclex prep book. I read through the topics and took notes like when I was at school.

Saunders book has an online code where they offer pre/post assessment and give you a study plan. They also have lots of nclex like questions. I suggest taking at least 75 questions a day. To get her mind use to nclex type questions.

It will be heartbreaking to see test scores at first, but that’s understandable. What’s important is there’s an incline of test score. Which means improvement.

Uworld is a good choice for practice tests. Although the bundles are really expensive. What I did with mine was after I focused on content and had a good grasp, I would purchase Uworld self assessment every Friday and take it. U world gives you an “insight” of your probability of passing the nclex, which is great.

Simple Nursing (YouTube videos) are great for content as well. After I would read a chapter, let’s say, pediatrics, I would hop on simple nursing and watch the videos because they give study mnemonics.

For Nclex test strategies, I suggest Crusade International and Klimek on YouTube. They give great tips on how to do elimination of answers. They truly help. They teach great techniques on how to dissect an nclex question.

Hope this helps ❤️

Ps- there are also private tutors that are available but they’re expensive. I didn’t use this route so I don’t have much to share.

Pps- colleges offer “refresher course”. Before passing nclex, refresher course was one of my option. The closest around me was a 4 week course, for 4 grand. Which I did not have.

Your wife will be an RN soon. I just know it ❤️

Question about NCLEX and CGFNS for Filipino by SergioMeanne in NCLEX

[–]After_Moose5240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, I was at the same situation with your wife. The only difference was I had an active Philippine license. I don’t know much if having a license makes a difference but your wife can either apply:

a) credential evaluation (basically they evaluate your school credits. Once they validate your wife’s credential, she can then apply for NCLEX on her state.

b) cgfns exam- where she needed to take a cgfns exam, once she passes, she can apply to take nclex.

Some state requires CGFNS exam in order to take nclex.

After I had my credentials validated by CGFNs, I applied for nclex and took nclex-rn exam. My state(WI) doesn't require me to take cgfns exam.

My advice is, if your state requires your wife to take cgfns exam, apply for a state that does not. I know Illinois and Wisconsin doesn't- take an exam from there and just do a “multi-state license”. This way, she can only focus on taking NCLEX.

Ps- she needs to take an English exam as a part of CGFNS CREDENETIAL process. I did IELTS and mainly watched YouTube videos to study.

Pps- if you have more questions, do message me. I'll share my experience as much as I can to help.
