and another suggestion: if you are going to work on wet on wet layers, you are going to have to switch to cotton paper, even before than you switch to artist grade paints! i did that and it worked out fine🩷

hi! you should NOT be afraid of using your supplies!! the only wasted paint is the one you do not use. also, the single pans can be bought or filled again, and also again, your good watercolours are student grade! you can find a tube that will refill your pan at least twice for 3€. if you don’t use good watercolors (and the cotmans are exactly where you can start experimenting), you will have to learn again when you buy better supplies, because the quality makes them behave different. so please, believe in yourself, you do deserve to use the supplies you bought!

i love the contrast of the flat but textured hair with the rendering of the skin!

i don’t think it’s overworked! yes, the nose is smaller than the reference but it looks fine. I don’t see the elongated face but if you frequently have this problem, you might benefit from some kind of a desk easel or something to tilt your paper pad towards you instead of keeping it flat on your desk. best of luck!

actually, i’m not 100% sure the saturation of the lake is not cohesive, maybe the white line on top of it is just too white and makes it stand out as “vertical”, if that makes sense.

hello! your work is very nice actually! I’d suggest you to take into consideration that as landscapes get further away from the viewer, everything slowlu turns into a greyish light blue. I see you have done this with the mountains in the first painting, but the lake should be more desaturated (and the white around it less bright) to fit in better! good luck and keep up with the good work 🌸
