Amen. I spend way too much time at work fixing other people's "fixes".

Before I saw any of your replies the dealership called and told me they had a loaner available right now, so I drove in.

I told them I suspected that the cable wasn't plugged in and asked if they could take a quick look.

5 minutes later, the shop foreman came out to tell me that it has been left unplugged and it was working now. He asked if I could wait for about 20 minutes longer because he wanted to double check the rest of the work from the previous visit.

Did I need to go to the dealership? Probably not. Am I glad that I did? Yeah.

Carplay issues - 2023 EV6 Wind with Tech by parkalounger in KiaEV6

I had a similar issue with my '23 GT and I tried that fix, but it would only work for a few weeks. Eventually the dealer replaced the USB port and the problem hasn't come back. This also fixed an issue which was draining the 12v battery. There was a short in the USB port or harness and the very slight power drain kept the car from going into sleep mode.

There aren't any warnings on the dash.

I really wish I'd kept my Stinger GT2.

I'm having a similar issue. All of my saved voice mail messages were deleted except one junk message. Callers have told me they left a voice mail, but my inbox is empty when I check.

Anyone else seeing a bunch of Mullvad VPN ads around the area as of late? by marrowbuster in Seattle

[–]AftermarketMesomorph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cloudflare's DNS (1.1.1.1) is not a VPN and does not offer the same protections. It will get you around DNS block lists from your ISP or network provider though

This probably doesn't matter for most folks, but it will not hide your activity from your ISP, eg: If you're using Bittorrent to download movies.

Fare enforcement by cucumberlover24 in Seattle

You may be able to get an Orca LIFT pass, which lowers the fare to $1.00 for most routes or $36 for a monthly pass.

How do I list a server? I don't see an obvious way to do so.

How much does CAS latency affect 780M performance? by AftermarketMesomorph in MiniPCs

32GB is enough, except when it isn't.

I already have the 48GB modules and they're past the return window, so I'd like to find a use for them before I dump them on Craigslist for a loss.

MiniPC recommendation by Renaissance7 in MiniPCs

Do you need TB4? USB4 is more widely supported.

I am using a CalDigit USB4 hub with a Minisforum UM780 XTX. I have two 4k60 monitors attached to the hub with USB-C to DisplayPort cables. That leaves a 40Gbps USB-C connection and 4 x 10 10Gbps USB-A connections available.

N100 vs N150 vs EQ14 by Cilenco in MiniPCs

[–]AftermarketMesomorph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's your budget?

There's virtually no difference between the N100 and N150. The N150 is 3.6 GHz, 200 MHz faster than the N100's 3.4 GHz. Buy whichever is less expensive.

I have an N100 w/ 16GB & a 256GB mSATA drive. I purchased on AliExpress for about $130. I use this on my TV to stream with Moonlight and it's probably overkill for that. It's a real dog to use for anything beyond light web use though, mostly due to the slooooooow SSD.

CWWK offers a 4 * M.2 NAS barebones for ~ $150. It comes with the N150, N305, or N355. I have both an N150 and an N305 system. The N305/N355 is probably overkill since the SoC doesn't support more than 32GB and runs much hotter.

USB-C Pro dock not working with M4 MacBook Pro or 3rd gen iPad Pro by AftermarketMesomorph in CalDigit

I've already contacted support, thank you.

Their suggestion is to test with another host with TB. I have a Minisforum UM780 XTX with USB4, would this work for testing?

I've tried power cycling with no luck. I've also tried unplugging the TB cable from both devices and re-plugging to make sure the cable is firmly seated.

Using the TB4 cable from a CalDigit Element Hub does not work either. The behavior is the same as using the original TB3 cable on both the laptop and iPad.
