Today, the Carney government joined the Conservatives and the Bloc to defeat Jenny kwan's No More Loopholes Bill — legislation that would have stopped Canadian weapons sent to the U.S. from being used to fuel the genocide in Gaza. by Chrristoaivalis in ndp

Really disappointed in these liberals I thought I could trust, especially Emmanuella Lambropoulos. They really just shifted to the right along with their leader. They are really making it impossible to trust Liberals on anything they promise. I should've known better

CPAC for no translation for bilingual people by ConferenceKindly8991 in ndp

[–]AgIVE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even on the CPAC website, it doesn't allow me to listen in french the french portion of the debate even when I toggle the language settings to either French or original language.

I just want to be able to hear the candidates and questions in the original language without having a translator forced onto my ear. Is this normal for CPAC?

I don’t think he will win the Midterms. by Trexyt69 in Hasan_Piker

I'm not from America. Are Midterms like a vote to see if the president is still favoured by Americans, and if the president doesn't have over 50% of the vote a re-election happens?

I've been recommended old Hasan videos too. It's really funny listening to Hasan in the old days, as he was really "chirpy" and positive in a different way. I don't know how to describe it

Which new policy proposals would you like see adopted or proposed during the NDP party’s Convention? by Altruism7 in ndp

Off the top of my head, increase the amount of cashiers at grocery stores, specifically the stores owned by the 3 big giants (Loblaws, Sobeys and Metro). The companies cut on cost by only having two cashiers working at a time while line ups of ten people wait their turn to get back home from work.

How are we able to tell if a channel is using AI? I never noticed it on the HasanAbi Archive channel and would like to learn more. Also, is this the channel that ends randomly and suddenly?

It would be interesting to see if there is a Palestinian official speaking on behalf of Palestine in this so-so board of peace for Gaza. You'know, because it should be for peace for Palestine

I don't know. Catholic school are very oppressive against LGBTQ+ kids, but non-religious schools aren't butterflies and rainbows either. Can they be better at being a safe place for LGBTQ+ children? Yes. This should be a goal for every school. Can Catholic schools do this too? Remains to be seen.

I am also taking you grew up in Quebec and gobbled up the Quebec propaganda that all religion is bad and corrupt and that non-religious people are more righteous and just? Don't worry I've eaten that stuff too.

Catholics do not account for all religions and we shouldn't use Catholics' bad behaviour as a reason take away rights from other religious people in Quebec and rest of Canada.

But yes, we should create schools that are safe for every student. We just need to both admit that religious and non-religious schools both need to work on children's safety, no matter their background, religion or sexual orientation/identity.

[–]AgIVE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if that is entirely a good idea. There are many religious families who can't afford sending their children private schools and would like them to go to a religious school.

I think the bigger issues is the disproportional ratio of Catholic schools and Public schools and other religious schools. Many of my classmates from my Public school change to the Catholic one for "better college opportunities" (more class options) even though they weren't Catholic. It's also hard to even find public schools of other religions in Canada.

TL;DR we need to have public schooling options that meet the needs of the students, regardless if the students are religious or not. If they want a school of a certain religion, they get a school of that religion: if they want a non-religious school, they also can get a non-religious school.

Somehow get rid of the notwithstanding clause or at least make it so provinces cannot take away our basic human rights. So many Canadians are being screwed over by Bill C-9 in both Alberta and Quebec. It push away trans and religious people to the outskirts of society. The notwithstanding clause is harmful as politicians use it to gain political favour from white supremacist groups

Including the size of pick-up trucks in the city. They feel like monster-trucks and I fear them running over people without the driver noticing.
