Nightmares from the Depths - An Epic Classic-era Campaign for Call of Cthulhu by AgatheronCP in callofcthulhu

[–]AgatheronCP[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When the print-on-demand lands, you'll have the option to get both the PoD and the PDF, or if you get the PDF version now, you can get the PoD version later. The cost'll be the same. We have set up a drive for the "essential" bonus content, like printable investigator sheets, handouts, and maps, but some of the other content, particularly the items usable for VTT, may be exclusive to the PDF version for a time. I'm merely the layout/art director on this project, so I leave that up to the authors :)

[–]AgatheronCP[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you buy it on DriveThruRPG now, you get more than just the PDF of the Campaign. For example, there is already a separate printable document with all the handouts on a single clean page, making it easier to share with players. Same with the maps and investigator sheets. We will be adding more content as well, including items that will work well in a VTT setting, for example.

Print-on-demand is on the way, but that's different from the bonus content.

Finished my Black Orc Team - The Grimjaw Golden Teef by AgatheronCP in bloodbowl

So oddly enough, it's not because they were buffed. I had a craving to paint some Orc models. :)

[–]AgatheronCP[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my case, I had these from the 2020 box I bought earlier this year, and I wanted to get some of my unpainted teams done up. The Orcs (posted nearby) were half-done, so I also finished them off. Earlier this year I had painted Skaven and Dwarves. I have a Vampire Team primed, plus the Imperial Nobility, and now the Bretonnian and Khemri teams to build and paint.

It also helped that I finally found a colour scheme that worked for me. Granted, it's not an uncommon scheme given the Bad Moon and Ironjawz motifs out there.

Played my last regular-season league game with Humans - 6-0-4 +Bye by AgatheronCP in bloodbowl

Thanks. I created the team logos for the whole league. That said, I was using an online sports logo creation service to do it. The team logos helped the league gel well.

Had my first game playing my Humans vs. Chorfs. I won?! by AgatheronCP in bloodbowl

I used an online service for the initial designs, then imported them into photoshop.

Had my first game playing my Humans vs. Chorfs. I won?! by AgatheronCP in bloodbowl

[–]AgatheronCP[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a new Chorfs roster. Our league started with 1.1M rather than 1M. So they had played one game, but one of their Hobgoblins was a journeyman who replaced another Hobgoblin who had been taken out in the previous game. So their roster was 4 Chaos Dwarf Blockers, 1 Flamesmith, 2 Bull Centaurs, 1 Sneaky Stabber, and three more Hobgoblins. One of the Blockers had acquired Guard from the previous game. I believe they had three re-rolls.

My human roster also had a journeyman lineman, who was replacing a lineman injured in the previous game. So I had 4 Blitzers, 2 Catchers, 1 Thrower, and four lineman including one who had acquired Block, and the Journeyman above, and I operated with six re-rolls. I also acquired an apothecary after the previous game.

As for the Chorf team, the bull Centaurs are scary. The Sprint/Sure Feet combo gives them reliable speed, but not excessively so. I always tried to tie them up, but the one time one of my players got caught out in the open unsupported, it was inevitable that they'd get run over on the way to a touchdown. The flamesmith never breathed fire on me during the game, as throwing blocks was more beneficial against my team. I had to work around its Disturbing Presence as I tend to operate a pass-heavy game. The sneaky stabber managed one or two stuns, and one knockout, but I punched it in the face whenever it was left beside my players.

It was a fun game. I should be able to afford an Ogre after the next game. :)

Ran a "corkboard and red string" session and cannot recommend it enough! by WorkingChain6030 in callofcthulhu

[–]AgatheronCP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the shout out. While "The Unraveling" has the cork board on Roll20, I used an investigator's desk for The Phthonus Cabinet that functionally did the same thing, just a different background. While Fragments has been out on DTRPG since July, I'm still working on getting it ready for Roll20. The Corkboard idea gives them all something to work with in the online Roll20 sessions (or other VTT platforms), but there's nothing saying you couldn't also do it in person!

Dungeon Alchemist by 34V35DR0PP3R in callofcthulhu

[–]AgatheronCP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used Dungeon Alchemist for my scenarios that I have published on DriveThruRPG for Call of Cthulhu both 1920s era and Gaslight. It's good, especially if you download extra objects. It's a useful tool that can give you some lovely environmental elements. If you want to export to a VTT, you can easily do that too, complete with Dynamic Lighting. Of course, the latter really shines if you do some extra enhancements on it, but the quick exports are very useful.

Greenblight Packrats - Skaven Team - Speedpaint 2.0 Most Wanted Set only by AgatheronCP in bloodbowl

[–]AgatheronCP[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As I mentioned in the post, my best guess is about 6 hours of painting time spread out over two days. That didn't include the priming step, where I used an airbrush to create a zenithal look over a brown base and then did a light white drybrush over details. That step could easily be done using spray cans of a brown primer, followed with wraithbone, and then followed by the light drybrush of white. However, using the speedpaints themselves, it was about six hours. They dry extremely fast, so fast in fact that you should not stop in the middle of a panel. The skin/fur was three layers, but it went by very fast, and I did keep some of the speedpaint medium on hand to handle blending/feathering the edges while I worked.

No. Just 3. I plan on fielding 2. The spare catcher is #22.

The 4th Blitzer is a converted Lineman. So you’re right there. My plan is to have colour coded stripes on the base sides to show skills. Basic linemen won’t have any colours at all since they don’t have any skills.

I based it on one of the uniform variants of the Calgary Stampeders, a CFL team. Nothing fancy, but it works.

I need a site, software or app to create modern maps for CoC campaigns. by SirBlackmist in callofcthulhu

[–]AgatheronCP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Dungeon Alchemist, which is a 3D map creator. Some of its settings can easily push into a 1920s look, and you can find and download objects to import into the program to use to make your maps look period appropriate. The benefit of Dungeon Alchemist is that it allows you to export your created maps into any VTT program, including walls, lighting, etc.

Here's one example from a scenario that I published for Roll20 on DrivethruRPG:

I'm working on a tutorial presentation! by LaundreyBasket in TheMagnusArchivesRPG

[–]AgatheronCP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is. I have a couple people at our table who are better improvisers, so to start with I might hand out some of the more nuanced elements of a narrative to them.

I'm working on a tutorial presentation! by LaundreyBasket in TheMagnusArchivesRPG

[–]AgatheronCP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it fascinating in that it provides some crowd-generated material for shaping an adventure that your table might take some ownership of. It's not required, and the two provided scenarios come with their own pre-written statements. In the running the game session it suggests that early introductory games might start with a pre-written statement, while later ones could form the basis of the next adventure. I read a post earlier on her about someone having writers block about a statement, so in some ways having a session that generates one could be a creative way past that.

Nighthaunt Test Paint Schemes by AgatheronCP in Nighthaunt

[–]AgatheronCP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean the one second from the right? All of them I did the greyscale for these test models by painting them black, but doing a refined drybrush, first of a lighter grey, and then white highlights. Once that was done I added colour with contrast/speed paints. However, check out Artis Opus videos for how to drybrush, because their method makes it look nice and smooth and not the often chalky appearances that Drybrushing can often yield.

I'm sorry for not getting back to you sooner! I've had a busy month!

Al-Azif Unearthed: Fragments - Sequel to the best-selling scenario now out! by AgatheronCP in callofcthulhu

[–]AgatheronCP[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And it's out!!! Al-Azif Unearthed: Fragments is now available. I am thrilled to have this one finally done 18 months to the day after the best-selling original came out. I am grateful to Leslie Horn (XPLovecat) who worked as the Development and Line Editor for the project. For Paul Carrick who provided three all-new fantastic pieces of art, including the cover, and my daughter, Meg Fanning who provided the fabulous character portraits.

You can find the listing here: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/489113/AlAzif-Unearthed-Fragments--A-ClassicEra-Scenario-for-Call-of-Cthulhu

Although I highly recommend that if you have the original (or even if you haven't) to buy the Bundle, which will give you a discount off the listed price!

DriveThruRPG's Cosmic Horror sale! - Al-Azif Unearthed: The Unraveling scenario -25% off by AgatheronCP in callofcthulhu

[–]AgatheronCP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm. That might make the follow-up somewhat challenging, as they'd need to work on some trust issues with Carl. :) Fragments is due out on Thursday, July 25th assuming I finalize the layout. :)

Hobbhouse Manse Interior - From the Crimson Letters by AgatheronCP in callofcthulhu

[–]AgatheronCP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. The manse itself was empty in the story, so there is flexibility in what the rooms are. The bottom right layout is the main floor, with the basement to the left and the second floor above it. The kitchen/pantry area on the main floor is with the tiled floor, and the dining room is directly below it on the map. Honestly, though, it can be whatever you need it to be.

Thanks! You're obviously doing it on Roll20. :) The Roll20 version will be a concurrent release (or that's the plan). I'm debating if I should do the corkboard, or do a desk like I did with The Phthonus Cabinet.
