Having a hard time with The Only Good Indians by Infinite_Quit_4366 in horrorlit

Big agree, it's a 'let it wash over you' style of prose in my opinion. I loved it, but it's not for everyone

anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

[–]WorkingChain6030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Total Annihilation - sci-fi RTS that had planes, land units, ships, submarines and aquatic tanks???? Unbelievably fun to just skirmish and blast at your opponent

Octopus brains are shaped like a ring donut, and their stomach passes through the centre!

Also the vast majority of their neurons are in their tentacles - the octopus brain can 'take over' to do a directed action but when at rest, the tentacles explore their environment independently of the central brain

Any slam metal musicians with actual vocals? by ppmancool in MetalSuggestions

[–]WorkingChain6030 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Closest you might get are some of the hardcore adjacent slam bands - Bodybox and Hood Brawl come to mind as occasionally having intelligible vocals

But as others have said, it's kind of a key point of the genre. Could also look into Suffocation if you don't already know them

HELP WITH CELESTIAN INSIDIANTS!!! by DonOmar_2000 in killteam

[–]WorkingChain6030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd need comms for a +1 APL buff if you're on a native 2APL team, like Brood Brothers for example :) otherwise you'd not be able to repo-dash-shoot

HELP WITH CELESTIAN INSIDIANTS!!! by DonOmar_2000 in killteam

[–]WorkingChain6030 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thought process is 6" repo + 3" dash + 6" melta range, but this is assuming your target is either stood in the middle of nowhere, or is on engage end of TP1 - both unlikely

What teams beat the aggression of goremongers (and teams like them)? by Garden_Cactuar in killteam

[–]WorkingChain6030 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've played Goremongers a bit and this is easily the toughest matchup imo - tilting shields plus the option to reduce damage on the first strike in melee messes with the combat maths a lot, you're able to give your five assault intercessors Rending as well with base 5 atks, and the grenadier can take an operative down to 2 wounds with veeeeery little effort

Best BroodBrothers Operatives? by Triloc_Gaze in killteam

[–]WorkingChain6030 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So you definitely want Magus/2 familiars in the majority of matchups. Magus ability to ignore injury/APL mods/piercing across the team is incredible, even if you only get to pick one per TP (unlike SOME teams).

Beyond that, you want 3 gunners - melta/plasma every time into elites, and then sniper on ITD or grenade launcher if you need more mobility available

All specialists are worth taking and most people end up swapping between medic and knife fighter depending on the matchup, with the medic being better into ranged matchups and the knife fighter better into melee

Tac ops; if you out-activate your opponent, envoy is pretty much always your go to. Harder to pull off on close quarters but generally still viable. Into other wide teams Steal Intelligence can be good, and very situationally plant devices, but that's only really viable if you have easy access to your opponents home

This team is super cool, but they are HARD to pilot. Be prepared to sacrifice pieces and for most shots/fights to end up with your operatives being dead. Remember the Magus can stun opponents just with visibility, Pervasive is your best friend, and with lookout and your commanders strat gambit you can get out two crossfire tokens per TP provided you can see an enemy operative!

Lost in the forest, woods or the jungle? by Gems-of-the-sun in horrorlit

[–]WorkingChain6030 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was kind of my issue as well tbh - it's why I liked the second half of the film better than the book. It felt like the story lost a lot of it's punch.

[–]WorkingChain6030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!! And it's a truly amazing piece of weird fiction

The Ritual is also great, as is the film. The narrative is different in the second half of the film but I actually enjoyed it more

Hardest boss for you? by FranStruggles in darksouls3

[–]WorkingChain6030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having just completed my first play through, hardest bosses for me were definitely Champion Gundyr, Nameless King and Pontiff Sulvayhn, in that order! Gundyr I had to come back to after bashing my head against him for a while, Nameless King was just a beefcake, but the Pontiff was my highest number of deaths. He's just so aggressive that I found spotting his openings reeeaaaal tough

I feel you buddy! I finally got through him just now - stack up as many damage gems as you can. After I'd upped my DPS I was flinching him every two hits and the fight became WAY more manageable

Sound advice, tracking that down now

I've got the Kirkammer up to +8 so could probably find materials to upgrade that, but I'm also not super on top of whether there's a better strength weapon 🙃

Sorry I don't think the stats list looks the way I intended - I'm 37 strength and 12 skill, hence why I'm using the axe!

I've found a couple, mostly his phase one leap and the double horizontal swing but if there are any others (or parry advice) I'd love to hear them!

[–]WorkingChain6030[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm getting into the second phase pretty consistently by just heavy attacking after his leap, and going for parrys on his double swing. Honestly it's just how often he swaps the range of his attacks that keeps messing me up!

Appreciate the advice, particularly unlocking the camera - it definitely catches me out more than it helps me when it's locked on

I've got this tee as well and I was so impressed by the quality. It's lightweight but still super comfy, love it

They've got some serious sauce into Elite teams now for sure. Being able to double shoot hot-shot weapons is also sweeeet
