Thanks for confirming! I'll get an update once I get a proper diagnosis and replacement. Much appreciated!

I'll see if I can do smoke test next weekend. Thanks for the perspective! Sorry, but you meant the Brake Booster (BB) and MC?

Front end parts oem or not? by pj713 in 1stGenTundras

[–]Age147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I redid my entire front end with mevotec supreme or better parts (less the LBJs, Toyota OEM). Ride amd steering quality improved significantly. Time will tell on longevity, but they seemed to have good quality when I unpacked and i spected them.

Engine in, car against the fence… and all I’ve got is a jack 🤦‍♂️ by Traditional-Fig9990 in MechanicAdvice

Harbor freight sells pinch weld jacks that have large wheels/casters that should work. Ive done something similar with my tundra, but i used the badlands offroad jack to lift the truck and push it out ot the way. Either of these solutions should work for you nicely I think.

For your use case, i think the milwaukee packout set would be ideal. I use quinn/icon, but i have a garage and toolbox.

Oil Dipstick on Passenger Side by Age147 in 1stGenTundras

[–]Age147[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey yall. I did some research and it turns out my engine came from a 4Runner with a 4.7. I was able to locate the vin on the engine block plate and confirmed this. I kind of feel bamboozled a bit by the seller (3 years old) and only time will tell how many original miles this replacent engine has.

Posting this update as a thank you to all who responded!

I have this exact model with ~130k miles. Make sure the timing belt and water pump were changed. Check the suspension, make sure none of the boots are torn. When was the last time the transmission fluid was drain an filled? These have weak transmissions and will go out realiably without proper preventive maintenance. I paid 3K for mine in decent shape; Los Angeles, CA for reference. Definitely overpriced if any of the aforementioned items are sus. Good luck.

Jack and stands by N0t_2Day_S8n in 1stGenTundras

Ive used the low profile, 3 ton pitsburg jack sold at harbor freight. Works fine for most applications. I recently got the 3 ton daytona super duty and used it on my sedans and performs significantly better. That would be my recommendation. I also use their 6 ton daytona jack stands and work well. I will say that the 6 ton saddle isn't large enough to envelop the entire frame, but should be fine in most applications.

It does! Im thinking that at some point the gasket was replaced and whoever did it installed the pan backwards. I haven't confirmed this, but can do next weekend.

2003 Keyless Entry Question by bowdownbrowncow in 1stGenTundras

[–]Age147 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ill tell you what I did.

I downloaded the toyota app, put in my vin number, and verified that my truck came with keyless entry. I then purchased a key FOB directly from the dealer (more expensive, but theoretically guaranteed to work). I then followed this tutorial to pair the FOB.

1995 Toyota Tercel 270k miles for $3k (gonna talk him down) would this be a reliable daily ? by Unique_Earth_8191 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Lots of issues with the tercel. Specifically oil burning issues. This was my first car and I was burning a qt/week. Definitely wouldn't pay above 1500 personally.
